I am selling this original copper silhouette weathervane of the drummer boy. Like the one found on the weathervane theatre in Whitefield nh. It appears to be made of copper and brass. It is painted brass. There are areas of the paint off showing the metal underneath. I think it was used very little. I found it in a thrift store many years ago in St Johnsbury VT. Length is 19" and height is 13 1/2" I have added some history of the theater below History Founded in 1966 by Gibbs Murray and the late Tom Haas. The Weathervane continued the tradition of live, professional summer entertainment in Whitefield that began at the Chase Barn Theatre. The Chase opened in 1934 in a barn on the Chase Farm property. William Chase. Arts critic at the New York Times, began importing New York actors, singers, and dancers during the summer to the delight ... moreof North Country residents and vacationers. For decades, the rafters rang at the Chase Barn with noted performers from Broadway, the Met, and beyond. Chase family members and local folks served as staff and audiences flocked there from grand hotels and country roads until 1962 when the Chase went dark. Enter two young men with vision. Energy, talent, and enthusiasm for northern New Hampshire. and the Weathervane Theatre was born. Lucy Chase Sparks introduced them to a property on Route 3 that offered two conjoined antique barns just begging to be transformed into a new stage space. Unusual Red Slag Glass Old Lightning Rod Weathervane
Neat old weathervane that is about 18 inches long. Very unusual front point as noted in photo's one and three. ANTIQUE WEATHER VANE PERFECT FOR THE TOP OF A HOME OR GARAGE OR BARN– PLACE IN A GARDEN IN THE SOIL OR ON A POLE– USE AS A DÉCOR ITEM IN AN EARLY AMERICANA STYLE Acquired at an estate sale is this antique weather vane. Features a goose on top of an unknown metal with hollow body. The goose measures about 27 ½ inches from the tip of one wing to the other wing and 24 inches from the bill to the tail. Great details to the goose with its legs and feet on one side up near its body as in flight. The goose has a hole in the bottom that the rod slides over and allows it to turn to indicate the wind direction. The overall measurement of this piece is 46 ½ inches tall! The measurement of the directions is 18 inches. The bottom shaft measures 19 ½ inches. The bottom larger ball measures about 4 inches across. The spacer in the middle ... morefor the directions is 3 inches. The top ball is 2 inches across. The metal rod between the top ball and the bottom of the goose is 4 inches. Based on the patina and rust of the rod I think it is cast iron or steel. The decorative balls appear to be copper. I am not sure what metal the directions are. The top features a sperm whale measuring 25" by 7" The N/S/E/W spokes measure 18" across. And the pole stands 18 1/2" high. Altogether, the whale measures approx. 26" tall. I have tested the weathervane with WD-40, but it does not turn. The copper has a light green patina and verdigris which adds to the antique character and overall appeal of this piece. The weathervane is in good condition for its age. But the tail section is a little rusty on top from being out in the elements. It has natural green patina on the copper. Very nice original painted wooden rooster weather vane. It is signed along the bottom edge with"IRWIN PAGE" in basic block incised lettering. Carved from one solid 12" plank. It has old style fancy fret work tail feathers coped out with carving marks left unsanded(last photo shows the rough carving to round the feather ends) The eyes are carved out on both sides(Photo 4) Partially paint-obscured on one side. No dry rot, but paint is fairly shabby with some chipping, peeling, and lots of age soiling as in the photos. I tested it with a dowel in the mounting hole: rooster is properly balance and spins very freely. Photo 7 is the mounting hole. Worn but not rotted. Please note that this is the top only of a weather vane. No mounting accessories- I slipped it over a dowel for the first picture. OLD ANTIQUE HOLLOW COPPER GOOSE WEATHERVANE GREAT SURFACE GOOD HONEST PATINA NR!
Fresh from an Estate comes this old vintage weathervane of a goose in flight. The vase has been setting in a barn or on top of a home for some time because the one side is oxidized with exposure to elements and the other is not. Has more of an old tarnished color look. This leads me to believe this is an original and not one made to look old. The lead seams also have the right look and age, there is no enhanced aging chemicals on this vane. Also the rod has a crack from dirt that has frozen and caused the crack. At some point someone has this stuck in the ground in their yard for decoration. Vintage Antique Rooster Weathervane Folk Art Handmade Copper Metal
This auction is for a vintage Rooster weathervane. This is very old and handmade from what looks like copper. There is a north and south sign but east and west is missing. This is all metal and will sit on a pole. Measures 26" tall. The rooster itself measures 17" across and 11"tall. This is a great piece of folk art. Fabulous Antique Vintage Weathervane Arrow with Rooster
For sale is a nice antique vintage weathervane from an estate sale which has a rooster on one end and an arrow on the other. This looks to have been painted black recently and has a repair to the base of the rooster. The size is 23" long by 10" tall and the hole for the pole is 3/4" wide. You are looking at four primitive"decorative" items.weathervane arrow. Barn pulley in iron and wood, metal snow bird and ornate'skewer' type item. All bought over 50 years ago at farm auction. I am 78) I had wall iron items for decoration at one times. The length of arrow is 21" the skewer is 20" the pulley is 10" and the snow bird is 6" The top of the pulley iron is crude.just how it was when purchased. All items are unique and interesting.
