Cool Vintage Lightning Rod Ball in an odd color. It has an overall Gold Color. But has just a tinge of red to it making it look a bit like polished copper. So you can decide. Ball has both collars and tube intact. Gold/ Copper coloring has some very minor wear or imperfections in the form of tiny specks. Was hard to get these to show due to reflections, and the flash. Last picture shows this slightly, It has nothing too too ugly. No BB holes cracks or other damage. Comes from an old collection that has not seen the light of day in over 30 years.

Antique Running Horse Weathervane Late 19th Early 20th C Gilt & Verdigris
Antique Running horse weatherfane made of copper late 19th early 20th century. The rod having ice caps and angled with a support to the rear leg 31 3/4 inches nose to tail. Head is copper. The top of the vane and the rod show lots of old verdigris surface while the remainder is gilt some wear down to copper right side back leg. The tops of hoofs and edges where it is soldered together have verdigris.There is an old patched bullet hole(see Arrow) I did get one buckshot ball out of the vane. ca 1900 copper, tin & cast iron rooster weathervane w. oversized rooster
Offered here without reserve is this ca 1900 rooster weathervane. The rooster and rod he stands on is copper. The arrow and vertical pole are cast iron, the rest is tin. The silver paint appears to be the only coat on this vane. Most importantly, though, notice tha the rooster is over-sized(or at least larger than the cows and horses common to such manufactured vanes) It alone measures 13 1/2" high x 11" wide, whereas the vane overall measures 31 1/2" wide, 26 1/2" high. Picture 5 shows that I've removed(un-soldered) the cone at the top so that the rooster& arroow can be removed for ease of packing. The cone however slips back on nicely and there is no need to re-solder it. I purchased this fantastic piece of Americana from a farm estate sale in Puxico. Missouri. The cow weathervane is made of single thickness galvanized steel. The cow had been painted the traditional BARN RED sometime back in history. The cow does have a bullet hole as can be seen in the photos and does have a couple of dents where it appears some bullets did not penetrate the steel. The cow appears to be homemade and most likely made in the farmer's shop. This fabulous piece stands a whopping 9 feet tall on it's mounting bracket and the horse is 41"long. The horse, the ball, and the spearhead at the top of the Weather Vane still maintain about 90% of the original gold guild paint. Because of the size and weight of the horse, the head is made out of cast iron to balance it while on the roof. Old Rare Original MUNSON Lightning Rod Weathervane & Glass Ball Farm Hardware
Here we have for sale an old original glass lightning rod ball. You are buying the ball on the left only. These are very rare Munson Lightning Rod Co. glass balls. The right ball is complete. With glass threaded tube and zinc threaded caps. The ball on the left is the same but doesn't have the tube or the caps. You can see in the pictures, the stained circle areas where the caps sat. These type balls have extra wide collar openings and little or no collars. This is intentional in manufacturing. The skirted cap screws down over the tube and rides against the shoulder of the ball. This type of glass ball was patented by Alvin J. Munson in 1887. Original zinc caps carry the name and patent date. These are rare balls and you don't find any parts much less complete balls much anymore. This ball was found here in South Central Ky. this ... morepast Thursday. It is 110% original, untouched, as found on a roof. No damage at all. All the staining is as mother nature put it. There was no caps or tube present. This is a rare piece and you won't be disappointed.

this rare lightening rod came off my kin folks house down east in davidson n.c. that was built in the 1850's. i am not sure how old the rod really is. but what info i can gather the rods were installed about the same time the house was built.i had another glass ball but it got broke when i was coming down off the falling in roof.that is where the 2 extra ball rings came from. the rod stands 51 inches tall.Has copper tip. any questions please ask before bidding. i will ship the glass ball seperate. thanks.will ship to lower 48 only.

Antique folk art cow weathervane 1900's James A10B ruby globe copper & zinc
This weathervane has all the character and patina a collector could want. Fortunately it has some old west style bullet holes that gives it an even more unique appearance. The ruby red globe is without cracks or repairs. It is stamped A10B. I have no idea what that means. This piece will be packed with extreme care and sent to the new owner without any shipping or handling charges if it goes to someone in the contiguous United States. Alaska and Hawaii will be charged $30.00. I will answer questions to the best of my ability. The fittings are worn from age and use, so it will need to be tightened up if it is put to practical use. I probably shouldn’t have bought this small antique American Eagle from a 19 th century Weathervane. There are several problems after ... moreyears of being shot at. Since the day the farmer removed this vane it has been displayed on a 5 ½” diameter by 6 ½” tall carved walnut base. The eagle has a 17” wingspan. Which would have been longer, but one wing is in poor condition. It is bent and there are separations on the seams and a couple of bullet holes, one which caused a small piece on the front of the wing to fly off. The other wing has a couple of bullet holes also, but is in better condition with only some slight bends to the copper. There is another bullet hole in the body and both feet are missing. The original owner must have removed this weathervane, before it was complete shot up. If you see the primitive charm in this small American Folk Art Eagle Weathervane like it do, then you’ll be glad to know it is listed without any reserve. Then just hit the BACK button and don't even go any further. This isn't an antique. But it has some age on it, and it was most likely used on a barn roof, most likely a dairy barn. It spins free and smoothly! It measures about 12" tall. 12" wide on the INSIDE of the base. And the turbine itself about 17" across. It's made primarily of aluminum. The big round piece on top is aluminum, the base is galvanized steel, but the small piece in the center of the top is plastic. It has some slight bending/dings here and there. But it's generally in nice shape to be older and used. I'm using the postage calculator on this. And sometimes it charges too much for postage. If you win, expect to pay whatever it states in the auction, and after it's shipped I will try to catch it if there is a substantial difference. If I don't please contact me. Most likely heavy aluminum; as there is no sign of brownish rust anywhere except on the tip of the vertical support rod that goes up insidethe boat and vane.From tip of arrow to end, 18 inches. Ffon peak of roof to top of boat mast, about 21 1/2. Directional arms about 13 1/2 maximum. There are three screws, all original. All three turn so that you can make needed North and roof pitch adjustments. The boat says SPRITE and the Sail has a big 6 and 341 engraved in it. This exquisitely detailed small horse weather vane has all the attributes of the larger size. Only in smaller, tabletop size. Very heavy. I suspect it is copper as a magnetic strip does not stick to the horse, just the support stick and directionals. The horse– or essence of a horse headed south“ the only direction that matters this time of year! measures approximately 14.5” tall from table by approximately 11” from nose to tip of right hoof. I think the tail may have always been“bobbed” But I can’t say for sure. Letters and front hoof tip are missing, but still a very strong classic presentation.
