Weathervane - Fire Wagon, 2 Firemen, 2 Horses
This weathervane is a bit of an enigma. It is an original smaller version of a large famous weathervane in New York. Twice this size, and is very famous. The origin of this weathervane is unknown, and experts are having a hard time exactly identifying who made it. What I do know is it was purchased at an estate auction in north central Missouri from a couple that had been collecting for decades. It is in exceptional condition, including the patina, which is beautiful in person. Dimensions are 24" long, 11" high, and 8" wide. Feel free to ask questions.

It is a gorgeous 1950 suit from the New York Design House- Connoisseur Weathervane by Handmacher. In the late 1940's and especially the 1950's ads became appearing in nearly all of the fashion magazines in the United States stating" marvelous clothes for the girl who wants the most for her money. Up until this time. Hamdmacher-Vogel. New York were only custom made couture clothes and particularly in the 1950's. They began production of off the rack clothing- stating that"a size 8 in Albany would be a size 8 in Philadelphia" The off the rack clothing was particularly influenced by the concept of clothing and the women who traveled. ... moreMany of the pieces were featured in Glamour magazine calling them the" Grace Kelly" style. These ads even appeared in color in 1/2 page ads. These sylish suits feature nipped in waists. Peplum jackets and pencil skirts- form fitting and so Fifth Avenue" quotes the August 1951 Issue of the Ladies Home Journal. Page 127. The ad goes on to say that Weathervane.to wear from season to season. With high fashion designs being priced as unbelievable affordable for the discerning woman. In 1951 we also saw, as in this suit, a new" Spring Connoisseur" Weathervane with a scallop collar and bow or belt in the back with a half tab. Continuing the couture line with good looking fabric of Abercyle, cotton and silk. as quoted in Glamour. Interesting. Ads were sponsored by Handmacher-Capital Airline promotions. There is not a concise source to find out much on this company, which closed in the 1990's, but what we can glean from these ads, reviews and the suits that do remain in excellent condition that this was really the genisis of when we begin to see woman in the workplace in visible positions. OLD WOODEN WEATHERVANE MADE TO LOOK LIKE A BIRDHOUSE WITH TIN BACKFIN TO CATCH WIND This is a very interestingly built weathervane that dates to the early 1900's I believe. It is shaped like a small wooden birdhouse and it has a long pole on the back with a galvanized tin fin on back to catch the wind. There is a hole in the bottom of the wooden house where a pole would have been put to hold the weathervane up. This piece still has most of the original paint on it and is very well-constructed. Birdhouse piece measures 4.5" tall by 7 and 1/4" long by 6.5" wide. The whole weather vane measures 19.5" long. Weathervane is in great shape overall for its' age with just natural wear present. Estate found in the attic of an old house near York.Pa. Made from very thick copper sheeting, puffy but hollow in the middle. fairly heavy for its size, weighs about 2 lbs. Has a lovely patina. The joints are all hand brazed.not soldered. Folk art in style, I am not sure just what this pig was used for. There is a hole with a bottom in it but its at the top on the back. What purpose this served I have no idea. It won't stand up so I cannot imagine what was put in this area. At any rate, it has no dents or damage. Measures about 13" long X 7" X 1 1/2" tall. As pictured. Up for auction is this Vintage Black Metal Sailboat Weathervane with an East/ West/ North/ South Indicator base. It will stand approx 21" tall while mounted. It's widest point(arrow) is approx 19" wide. Not sure of the age of the weathervane. However neighboring items from the same estate were from the 1980's and 1990's. It's made of a lighter metal, possible aluminum, maybe a tin, but I can't bend it, so it's strong. It's coupler between the wind directional top and base is clean, straight, and rotates effortlessly. It has a black finish. there's some tiny whitish specks on one side, however no evidence of rust anywhere. except maybe a tiny bit on the screws. There a 4 screw base mount. England Antique Vintage 20" Arrow Weathervane w/ 22" mounting pole
Vintage 20" Arrow Weathervane with 22" mounting pole. The metal arrow had been painted a light blue long ago. The mounting pole has numerous layers of off-white paint. The arrow is mounted onto the mounting pole by a threaded bolt through a hole in the center cap of the arrow. The cap sits on a rotating assembly giving it the rotating ability when mounted. The base of the mounting pole appears to be bolted on(painted) and it looks like the weather vane was forcibly removed from whatever it was originally mounted to(see photo) Weathervane was purchased in England. As you can see it has been painted black and white/cream ON BOTH SIDES to represent a dairy cow. The arrow is iron as well and turns freely 360* in the pivot sleeve that is attached to the solid wooden base. The wooden base has 1911 carved into the top. MILLERS on the front of the base. STORE on one side of the base and PATSY'S on the bottom of the base. The cow is 1/8" thick and the arrow is 3/8" thick. The base measures 12" x 7" The arrow measures 21" long. this is an old weathervane part. it is the long bar that holds the decorative section of the vane and on the opposite end there is the cast iron directional arrow. the design piece is missing but the 2 prong hookup is still on the rod. the center has the double loop for placing on the pole and it is 1 in. wide. the arrow section is 10 1/2 in. long ans 3 1/2 in. tall. haspitting in the metal from age and weather. it is 28 in. long total. i consider this a project piece. view my other hardware and heat register listings. can combine shipping.

Rare Antique Weathervane Gabriel Blowing Horn
This is an antique rare Gabriel Blowing Horn Weathervane with directional.2 balls and a newer shaft. It has its original patina. In researching this weathervane, I have only seen this Gabriel style being sold by companies making new ones, I found other styles of Gabriel that where antique but yet to find another antique matching this one. Besides sending pictures to different people that are that deal with antique weathervanes and getting different answers back from them, I decided to make the trip down to Decature and I met with Halsey Munson in person because its hard for people to judge a piece by looking at pictures. He said its an early 1900s era with original patina and very nice shape. He gave me some insight about what the older ones from the 1800s would look like and how they were made. I showed him what looks like a J and a L on ... morethe directional to see if it was the markings from J L Mott company. He didnt know and said probably not. The 2nd to last picture you can see the J really good and the last picture you can kinda see an L. The measurements are, from tip of horn to tip of foot is 27" and 14" from top of wing to bottom of dress. The directional is 18" across and the whole thing stands about 48" tall with the newer shaft. Rare Antique Large Copper Weathervane Goose Body Duck Bird - Never mounted
This is a bit unusual: What I have here is one-half of what would be a hollow copper weathervane goose. In full flight. Nicely detailed, the bird is 31" from bill to tailfeathers with a 32" wingspan. The upper wing is soldered to the body, the rest is all one piece. It has never been soldered to its opposite side and, while nicely aged, it's never been hung outside and is in remarkable condition. It has a cool patina but no oxidation. Two brass hangers have been attached to the back, so it can be hung on the wall- inside or outside. It's a very neat and one-of-a-kind piece. Antique Lightning Rod Weathervane Arrow Ruby Red Glass Tail
This antique lightning weathervane is made of cast iron with rudy red glass tail. Please see in picture 2 there is damage to the tail. Where one of the iron decorative swirls came off at the bottom. Measures 18 1/2 inches long. There is some rusting. There is slight damage, imperfections to the glass two corners of the glass has been chipped, slightly noticeable, but not large enough to have major damage. There is also an area at the edge there is a spot where its a clear glass that has formed a slight appearance of clouding, it appears to be either manufacturing imperfection in the glass or it got hit by lighting? Please see photos. If you can't spot the areas where there is imperfections please let me know that you would like to view it and i will post a photo.

antique 21 1/2" weathervane with replaced glass and tail
A 21 1/2" antique weathervane that is 4" wide[up and down measuring] on the glass part of the tail. This weathervane is in excellent condition. No missing chips or cracks. I would have to say that the glass is not original. This weathervane was carefully rebuilt 25 years ago right down to the colored paint on the tail. Vintage Weather-Vane Nautical Table Lamp This is a very interesting lamp. How to describe it.it is a lamp shaped table lamp. The lamp would work great in a rustic or nautical decor. I've never seen a lamp like this before! Dimensions: 26 inch height x 6 1/4 inch width Condition: Fantastic interesting original lamp. This lamp is in working condition. For your consideration is used older set of brass weather vane directionals with set screws. They have a nice patina look from being used. There are no repairs but they do have a slight bend as seen in pics. They measure approximately 18 1/8" at the longest point and 3 1/4" at the tallest point with the center inside being 3/4" in diameter. This is a LARGE Antique copper weathervane or lightning rod featuring the classic folk art horse in motion. The item comes with everything shown in the photos; includes the roof mount.
