ART NOUVEAU 1920s WALL SCONCE/LAMP w/ORIGINAL GLASS SHADE ~ NICE ANTIQUE LIGHT
This is a simple but stunning electric wall sconce or table top accent lamp dating from 1920-1930 in the Art Nouveau style. The lamp features the original opaque glass round shade. The glass shade is a lovely vanilla color(picures don't show actual color-it is like an old pearl. Softly aged with a gloss finish. The globe interior is white. A softly curved reeded brass arm connects the lamp to the backplate and an on/off switch on the backplate finishes off the piece. The sconce measures 7.5 inches tall x 4.75 inches wide and projects about 9.5 inches from the wall. There is a turn-key on the shade that can adjust the shade forward or backward. This small light looks just as nice used as a table lamp. Just the right size for an accent or anywhere you need a small lamp. The lamp is a"plug-in" design with a fabric cord dating it ... more1930 or before. Rewiring is necessary-I left the original soft cord intact to show age but cut the plug off. Because of danger from exposed wires. The light could easily be hard-wired for a wall mounted sconce(nail-hole plate for hanging is on the back) or wired for use as a table lamp. Uses a low wattage(common Edison screw-base style) light bulb. The brass on the lamp features nice patina but there is an area on the backplate where someone started to clean it? The rest of the metal shows wear and is pitted in places but still nice overall. Please see all pictures to help you judge condition for yourself. This lamp was purchased at an estate auction in the foothills of North Carolina and has not been altered since purchased(other than wiping off some dirt and dust) A beautiful hallway or alcove light-hang it wherever you want soft lighting. Edison patented Bryant socket. With mica insulator. The rarely found patent dated fitter(July 14. 1903) is permanately secured to the Bryant socket body. Usually if you see these Edison patented sockets at all, they will have a clamp on fitter attached. A lovely fixture that is very easily mounted to any existing mounting bracket. Their colors are very soft and natural and they are very detailed. This came from the estate of a heavy duty collector of mexican mid century and earlier items. Rare Victorian Cast Iron Wall Sconce Late 1800's
This is a rare and quite beautiful cast iron wall sconce circa 1890's. This 12" tall. 14" wide(from wall bracket to end of holder) with a 6" wide holder. Likely used to hold a lantern, this piece could now hold a large candle, or oil lamp. The screw is still present, and in good working order. Offered is a rare find as I have only seen this one a couple of times. Its a very large vintage 60's Syroco wall hanging candle holder/ sconce. If you are not familiar with Syroco, Homco or Burwood products they are made to look like wood products usually ornately styled but they are a mixed resin materal not wood. This peice is Ornately decorated with chains and 9 arms/ cups for holding single tappered candlesticks. This particular peice could work for many styles, its gold in color now so it would be great for shabby French/ Paris chic or Hollywood Regency. It could easily be painted Black for a wonderful Gothic style or a crisp white for the ever so popular Shabby Cottage Chic. Lots of potential decorating possibilities. This peice has brackets on main candle bar to mount on wall then drape the chains up wall and theres a bracket on ... morethe round medallion/ rosette to mount it above on wall. There is some loss to the gold gilt but otherwise its in nice condition with no breaks or chips. I purchased this at an estate auction and am uncertain of its age but my guess is 1960s.
