Appears this chest was handmade by a talented person. Not mass manufactured. It came from the estate of a watch/clock collector whom also repaired them, so he may have used it to store his parts in. You do not see machinist's chests in such nice condition very often Would be great for your tool collection or to be used as a jewelry chest. There is no felt in any of the drawers. There are no cracks or splits to wood of the case or drawers. The top of the case and the top of the door have brass corner protectors on them. ... moreAnd are securely in place. The front oak piece is attached to the front of the case by hinges. Does not slide under the drawers like a typical machinist's chest. The bottom and back of this case are also very intact. A pair of very vintage copper or brass and iron hinges
Here are a pair of hinges extraordinaire! Intense! They're big and bad and weigh 4.8 lbs. 7 x 3.5 inches I think they are copper and or brass but I'm not sure and so I'm making no claims. One of them has heavy duty spring action on both sides where you have to pry it open with a screw driver. The other one has that on one side but the other side easily opens by hand with no spring action. They're the coolest hinges I've ever seen!

Set of 29 Vintage AMEROCK Brass Tone Offset Cabinet Door Hinges, Retro, 1970's
Measuring a little over 3¼" from top to bottom. These offset cabinet door hinges feature a distinctive curl at each end, like commas. If I've counted them correctly there are 29 of them, even though only six showed up for the photo shoot. And if I'm measuring correctly, they are designed to fit 3/8" thick doors. On the inside of each handle is the old Amerock logo(an"A" in a circle) but nothing to indicate their age. They look like brass, but a magnet sticks to them, so I'd guess they're a brass coating over steel. The backs are black. Each has six screw holes, however we don't have any screws for them. 2 Door Hinges 3 1/2 X 3 1/2" old vintage BALL top restored shooting vines These hinges would be great for renovating an old house that needs some nice matching hinges. Good old vintage cast iron is stronger and harder than the new soft reproduction stuff they make in modern hinges. These have a nice sharp. Clean and fancy casting. The pattern is also on the back of the hinge and shows when the door is closed. The hinges were stripped of all the paint and wire brushed. The hinges were sprayed with clear acrylic lacquer finish made by Sherwin Williams that is specially made for cast iron and exterior applications. This is a better finish than a hardware store spray paint. This clear finish has superior scratch and water resistance. They are 4 5/8" long from steeple tip to steeple tip and they are 3 1/2" wide. The pins are loose ... moreand removable.
