Very Nice Vintage KEY Collection ~ Lot. Skeleton Keys ~ Decorative Keys! Sizes vary in this lot- I think the larger key is simply decorative; but I cannot guarantee this. All of the others appear to be true. Usable keys that had a purpose- possibly old antique furniture drawers, doors, other vintage locks, etc. All appear to be mostly brass. The largest one measures approximately 7 3/4" in total length. The next longest key is about 4 3/4" long. The rest are about 2 1/2" to 3 1/4" in length. All are nicely ornate in their own way. There are 6 skeleton keys in this lot and they are all approximately 2 1/2 to 3 inches tall. All in good condition. One of them is slightly bent and some of the metal on this same key is turning white. All the others have no issues. Lot of 5 old Skeleton keys; one hollow shaft. 3 flat shaft and 1 solid round shafts I am neither a locksmith nor a collector so I probably won’t describe these as they would. I don’t know what they were used for or how old they are. But I suspect at least a couple of them are very old; one bears an 1880s patent date. The keys were found in a box of old things packed at my grandparents’ home and not opened for more than 50 years. The skeleton keys range in size from about 1-7/8” long to nearly 3” see photo with ruler. The shortest key has a round shaft with hollow barrel at the business end Three of the keys have flat shafts and solid round barrels at the business end One key has both a round shaft and a solid round barrel One of the longer keys is marked“6” and“Sargent& Co” on one side and“Pat.
