Antique VERY LARGE Patent Dated Rim Lock Cast Iron WITH Key!
Offered is an antique large cast iron rim lock. The lock has its key. And the lock is fully functioning. It is missing the receiving end. The lock is patent dated, which appears to have the dates"Dec. 17, 1842" and"Dec. 14, 1876. The lock has a cracked and missing section on one side- see pictures. Other than that, it has normal wear and tear from age. There were several springs loose on the inside- their function is unknown, as the lock works without them. The dimension of the lock are: 8.5" x 6" and the key is 5.5' long. Antique Cast Iron "Eagle" Rim Lock Door Latch w/Brass Throw Bolts Good+Condition
This unit could be better or worse than Good Plus condition. I don't know the rating standards, but this lock would work fine as a(no door knob or latch) bolt lock with the right key. As far as the missing door knob and latch goes, they're not here so this could render this gem as useless, don't know. No cracks or breaks to the cast iron. But as you can see by the pics the key hole has been sawed(or torched) larger and there's that cut-out spot on the corner of the rear backing plate, I don't know what that's all about.a really bad lock pick job? 5 inches high X 3-3/4 inches wide and 5/8 inch thick for the main body(not counting the thickness of the eagle) and the jam side face plate is thicker at about 15/16 inch. The lock is 98mm tall externally and 125mm wide- all measurements approx. The handle operation works and the latch is nice and free. There is a makers name that I can but I am unable to make it out. The internal lock parts have been cleaned and checked to make sure they were in good condition and working properly. The exterior was painted in a high quality oil based gloss black paint that is very close to what the original finish would have looked like. Of course you can always ... morerepaint it in a color of your choice. This has a keyed deadbolt and a levered deadbolt so you can lock the smaller deadbolt without using the key. This will come with a non-original working antique skeleton key, cast iron rosette, cast iron key escutcheon and antique but non-original cast iron rim lock keeper. The lock is reversible for use on the right or left side of a door. No mounting screws come with it but you can easily pick them up at any home center or hardware store. The approximate measurements are 4 ¼” high x 3 ½” wide with the keeper being 4” h x 5/8” w. The backset is 2 ½” That is from the front of the lock to the center of the keyhole. My pictures are large because I not only want to tell you what you’re getting but also for you to see what you’re getting. NOTE: Be very careful when buying antique hardware. I’m seeing more reproductions showing up at flea markets and sales then ever before. Remember. If it's too good to be true. About half of what I sell on eBay is antique hardware most of which I bought before eBay was even someone’s dream. First I bought it for the Victorian home I had and then I just started buying it because I liked it.

Salvaged Edwardian Pattern Rim Lock - Brass Door Handle - Cast Steel Keep
Period Rim Lock& Handle. Here for auction is a salvaged traditional Edwardian(or later) pattern thumb rim lock. Brass handle and cast steel keep, which are in good working condition. The rim lock has an attractive oblong case with a spring loaded latch and thumb dead bolt actions. I have polished the exposed brass retaining its aged appearance. The brass handle dates from about the same period as the lock. With each knob fitting onto the ends of the spindle and are secured with grub screws. The knobs have some knocks to them but are not that noticeable. The later cast steel keep compliments the lock. The rim lock measures approximately 128 mm(5“ wide. 115 mm(4 1/2“ high. Antique Rim Lock& Black Porcelain Door knobs. Complete Set with Key From 1880's home. Comes with rim lock. Rosette, catch and 2 knobs. Lock works great. Stunning flawless set. Only very minor small scratches that are hard to see. You will have hard time finding better. Knobs are 2 1/4" across. All paint, foreign matter, tarnish removed and glass polished. I have been selling knobs for years and only list the good ones. All knobs will be packed in bubble wrap and packing peanuts. I always pack to ship before they sell and if you pay at end of auction i will ship the next morning.
