Antique Victorian 16.5" English Wooden Shell Motif Pediment Walnut / Mahogany
This is an Antique/ Vintage 16 1/2" Wooden Shell Motif Pediment. The pediment was purchase in England. We assume it was probably made there. But we do not know for sure, nor do we know specifically what its age is, but appears to us to likely be 19th Century Victorian era piece. The pediment definitely appears to be hardwood. The appearance of the grain strongly suggests the wood in probably walnut but it could possibly be mahogany or other hardwood. The pediment a great looking piece with a graceful. Very deeply carved shell design. We do not know for sure what specific type of piece it was originally part of. The measurements of the pediment excluding the 3/8" pad at the top center and the two pegs on the bottom are 16 1/2" wide x 6 1/4" high x 3 11/16" wide. The pediment is built up from three layers of wood as ... moreseen in the photo of the top. The pad on top is 3/8" tall with a 7/8" deep x 7/8" diameter hole where the peg for a finial was inserted. As found. The finial was no longer present and the pediment is offered as found in that regard. The two pins on the bottom are 3/4" long x 3/4" in diameter. The pins are on 11 1/4" centers. The pediment is a very solid. Substantial piece and it weighs about three pounds. Condition The pediment is in excellent condition with beautiful. Uniform finish, and no chips or other damage. The only, very, very minor issue I noticed is a couple of tiny circular white paint droplets on the back as seen on the photo of the back. There was a finial in the middle but it is missing. The body has a crown molding trimmed in reel and bead. There are repeating festoons with flowers and ribbons. Nice looking piece. It measures 64.5 inches long. By 14.5 inches tall and is 3.25 inches deep. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. Original. Victorian era, architectural piece just dying for an imaginative re-use. Unknown wood type but great condition and patina. Inscribed carving on the middle raised panel. It may be some type of burled wood because the grain is much different than the rest of the wood. To the left and right are Eastlake flower medallions that have ebonized petals. Wood buttons surround each flower. Below are dark stained squares which may have had something in them at one time. Overall, this panel measures approx. 41 inches by 14 inches. Fabulous Vintage Wooden Pediment Crest Grape Winery Motif
As pediment crests go. There is no finer one than this. It is finely carved exhibiting grace and balance throughout its design. It is as if it"caresses" whatever it rests on or above. The grape motif would lend itself well to a winery, restaurant, etc. It is 33.75" x 8" x 3/8" This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. Some pieces were removed from furniture that was in disrepair other pieces were left over stock from architectural design projects.

QUEEN ANNE/COLONIAL ERA STYLE OAK PEDIMENT FAN/SHELL DESIGN
This is a nice piece of architectural salvage which I had hung above a double window in my breakfast room. It is now up for auction since I no longer need it. It measures 30" Wide x 7" H and is 2" thick at the top since it has an applied piece joined to it. It is wired and ready to hang or whatever use you have. I believe the shell or fan design designates this piece to be Queen Anne or the American Colonial period. The fan or shell at the top has a small piece missing which is barely noticable when hanging on a wall. I'm sure a little wood filler could take care of it. This is a stunning and a particularly pretty mid 19thc walnut wood carved pediment. The attention to carved detail is really excellent with all of the carving in deep relief. This pediment is carved with sunflowers and Scottish thistles and with a decorative frilled ribbon flowing the length. GORGEOUS ANTIQUE OAK & WALNUT FURNITURE CARTOUCHE & PEDIMENT SHELF
Up for bid is a gorgeous antique solid walnut and oak cartouche and pediment shelf. Standing 11-1/2" high x 8-1/2" wide and having a profile of about 5-1/2" deep. This solid looking shelf makes a bold statement wherever you decide to hang and use it. It hangs by two brass hooks, fastened to the back, so that when something is set atop of it, it will not sway to one side of the other and the shelf will set firmly on the wall. The back has been hollowed out to reduce some of it's weight, though two properly positioned screws into anchors in the wall should allow a good amount of weight to be placed upon the shelf. The top of the shelf is a nicely crafted solid oak board with nicely cut edges along the front and sides. The cartouche itself is a gorgeous hand carved acanthus leaf with a drop down finial at the bottom supporting ... morethe shelf. Little to no original finish is left, so I believe a natural or dark finish is all that's needed to make this piece pop. These Pediments have a look of Futuristic Victorian. This is some sort of an exterior lintel facade. Most historic commercial buildings have cornices to cap their facades. Usually found in buildings constructed before 1900, approx 70 years old or more and each piece is an great vintage Architectural element. Many like these could be used as planters. Tables, and as art displayed on interior and exterior walls. As you can see in the photos there is aging but nothing out of character on such pieces. MATERIAL: It seems that the terrazzo mixture has dark green granite or marble chips. It has a definite green tone. I cant tell for sure the material but it seems to be terrazzo cast with granite or marble chips. These have been outside for 50 plus years. The cornice could possibly even be polished-I have not tried it to clean them or polish. Although this old patina is handsome as is. Cast Iron Gothic Victorian Parlor Stove Pediment Trent N.J Tile 1890's Eastlake
Late 1800's Cast Iron Parlor Stove Pediment with Trent Stove Tile. Victorian parlor stoves were very ornate and often decorated with ceramic tiles that were custom made to fit into the cast iron. The 2-piece cast iron pediment exhibits stylized Gothic Revival motifs. It is nickel plated.With wear and surface rust.A little elbow grease with OOO steel wool may bring up more of the plating. The tile is marked Trent(Trenton,NJ) and has chips as seen on some high points,but no cracks. The crescent shaped notch is moulded into the tile at the factory to prevent round tiles from spinning,as it sits around a pin in the cast iron. Elaborate 30 inch Pediment Crest with Carved Birds and Fruit
This gracious open-work wooden crest is delicately carved featuring an abundant vase of flowers and fruit with a pair of feasting love birds. It is carved hardwood and measures 30.75" x 7.25" x 1/2" This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's.
