Vintage Marble Lintel pediment cornice Architectural fragment
Handsome Vintage Marble Architectural fragment from Pediment Cornice Eyebrow Most probably a type of high quality Carera Marble with handsome patina. This Architectural accent came out of a very old pre 1900 building in Montgomery Alabama. MEASUREMENT-Approximately 20 inches long and about 8 inches WIDE. Very heavy. MORE are available if interested. PRICE IS FOR ONE PIECE I can only assume that it was originally a lintel of some sort. It has an Urban relict feel to it and could look great in a garden or some modern Office or home. This was originally some sort of an exterior lintel facade. Most historic commercial buildings have cornices to cap their facades. Usually found in buildings constructed before 1900, approx 70 years old or more and each piece is an great vintage Architectural element. Many like these could be used as art displayed ... moreon interior and exterior walls. As you can see in the photos there is aging but nothing out of character on such pieces. These have been outside for 50 plus years. The cornice could possibly even be polished-I have not tried it to clean them or polish. Although this old patina is handsome as is. An Architectural like this could be used for various purposes other than what it was intentionally made. I am not certain of its original use but I think it originally would fit originally across the top of the window. From research I found that heavy lintels. Like droopy eyebrows, ostensibly were originally used to protect the building, and to decorate it. During the last century. Cast stone was commonly used and even in the 19th century. for exterior window and door surrounds or lintels, copings, parapets and balustrades, cornices and friezes, and sculptural ornament. This architectural fragment is one part of this Southern Antique collector's possessions. Who as the old homes were destroyed back in the 1930's- 1950'd, this collector carefully salvaged the old architecturals and stored in for more than half of a century. NICE SHABBY 'N CHIC PEDIMENT W/ APPLIED CARVINGS
This is a very nice sponge painted pediment with applied carvings. It measures 35 1/2" wide x 7 3/4" high in the center. It is a newer piece most likely 5-10 years old and the corners are cut at an angle. Other than some minor paint loss it is in good condition. It is available for pick up or can be shipped by Fed Ex ground for 13.80 including insurance. We will gladly combine lots whenever possible to save on shipping costs.

c1850-60 VICTORIAN style pediment PITTSBURGH, PA hotel CHECKERED design 108x39"
Great door pediment- salvaged from a circa 1850-60 Pittsburgh hotel. I'found' this in my barn- hanging in the rafters were I was placing gable pediments. I thought for the longest time I had this piece listed- but alas it was not. I bought this piece about 5 or 6 years ago. Has a great checkered design in the triangle pediment area- the green paint is creak. Nice crackled finish. The top of the peak is unpainted- it must have been covered as the green paint was NEVER applied to the piece. The bottom edge needs to be trimmed- it has some soft spots on it- I tried to capture this in the pictures. I would estimate about 1 to 1.5" needs to be trimmed on the bottom edge for a smooth. Even edge. Measures 108.5" long is 39" at peak& 8.5" deep. Old square nails are studding the backside also. Has metal flashing on ... moretop edge. Up for purchase are a super rare and beautiful antique 18th Century(1780s-1790s) pair of French gilt window valances or pediments. These incredibly ornate museum quality crown window cornices are hand hammered gilded metal- I believe it's brass. But I am not a metal expert so it could be tin or copper- most likely not bronze(the feel is heavier than an old tin ceiling) Would work beautifully over doors, transoms, or other places where you need a grand impact. These are definitely vintage from the time period and region specified. THese were purchased by me years ago at a high end estate sale where the bulk of the woman's possessions were from 1790s France. ... moreThese were represented by the reputable auction house as 1790s French brass window cornices. Very rare- where do you find them? If you have the chateau or grand estate. Then these will fit the decor beautifully. Overall condition is excellent- there is some spotting discoloration all over each header panel. Consistent with age. There are also a couple of small holes where I think they were drilled to hang- you can't really see them though(see pics) Beautiful European old world lustre and patina. Extremely fine craftsmanship! Each of these eyebrow architectural pieces is mounted on old wood(with old fabric still intact in places) and has modern hinges hardware for easy hanging installation. Measures 12.5" tall at center. 7" tall at lowest point& 11" tall at end caps. Has been painted and the stripped to bare wood. The top has a nice carved sunburst. There are corbels and nicely carved moldings. It measures 28.25 wide. 14.5 inches tall and is 5.75 inches thick at the top molding. Overall it is in very good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. Two large finials stand at either end on bases, and the central smaller finial.The larger finial can be removed, and I do not believe they are replacements as there is a lighter coloured wood underneather where they have been. English Chippendale Broken Arch Hanging Corner Cabinet or Cupboard Blind Doors. Late 18th Century c. 1780-1800 Item# 130001GHP27 This is a very fine solid mahogany English Chippendale Hanging Antique Corner Cabinet or Cupboard with a Broken-Arch Pediment. Crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century c. 1780-1800. Of outstanding construction. It features thick planed and carved crown molding along the Broken-Arch, raising the visual plane of the cabinet quite intensely to culminate in a turned finial over a plinth scroll cut of the solid. The sides of the case bevel to soften the edge before joining the wall, these flanking two blind doors. The doors are constructed using a through-tenon mortised frame locking in the inset chamfered panels. Each with shapely notched crests and edged by cockbead molding, both functioning smoothly on ... moreoriginal brass hinges. Inside of the doors, the original hardware remains untouched, the hand forged iron latch on the left door locking the panel in place, the original steel lock on the right door still in place. The interior is four shelves, all but the second-to-top shelf backed by a silk upholstery. The back of the case is entirely dovetail construction. The quarter-sawn oak secondary woods locking into the top and bottom boards without the use of nails or screws. Over the years, this has placed some strain on the back-most corners, as the oak is not thick enough to create an indestructible joint, resulting in some light cracking and looseness where the two boards come together. The cabinet is meant to be mounted using multiple screws through the backboards, coupled with the original hanging tabs at the top of the cabinet on both sides. Some of the best victorian Gingerbread salvage we've had. I bought these fascia pediments from a salvager in NY state almost ten years ago. We originally had three of these. And a# of other great pieces from this grand circa 1870 home in central NY state. Has great pink and creamy white victorian paint with a nice crackled surface.
