The back cover is a rock poster- advertisement for the Doors well known performance at the Continental Ballroom in Santa Clara on Nov. 3. 1967. Artwork by Monk. Poster-ad measures 11 1/2" x 15" 8 pages including cover. Overall condition is excellent. A few frayed edges(see images for cond. specifics) The Continental Ballroom was in operation from late 1966 through 1967. Anything from this venue is considered rare and I haven't been able to locate any references to this in house publication. Great piece of Bay Area Rock& Roll history.

This is a high quality litho reproduction of the poster used to promote the Toronto Rock& Roll Revival concert in 1969. This one day. 12 hour historic festival was notable for many reasons. The originally listed performers for the festival were Whiskey Howl, Bo Diddley, Chicago, Junior Walker and the All Stars, Tony Joe White, Alice Cooper, Chuck Berry, Cat Mother and the All Night Newsboys, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Vincent, Little Richard, Doug Hershaw and The Doors. The appearance of John Lennon, Yoko Ono and The Plastic Ono Band was not publicly known in advance and was not listed on the poster. Eric ... moreClapton also appeared with the band onstage. The Plastic Ono Band's performance resulted in the release of their Live Peace in Toronto 1969 album. It was at this festival that audience members first lit matches and lighters to welcome a performer on stage. Kim Fowley. The Master of ceremonies, came up with this as a means to ease John Lennon's stage fright. Fowley appeared on stage just before introducing the Plastic Ono Band and had everyone get their matches ready whereupon Lennon and company took the stage to a spectacular show of lights. This has since become a tradition in rock and roll, but was first experienced here. Also, it was at the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival that the Alice Cooper"chicken incident" took place. A chicken was reportedly thrown on stage and thrown back into the audience by lead singer Alice; a photo of which was sent by wire around the world. Various reports ranged from Alice biting the chicken's head off before returning it to the crowd, to Alice's own claim that audience members in the front of the crowd tore the poor bird to pieces in a frenzy of rock and roll pandemonium. Vintage 1967 THE DOORS Original Poster Silk Screen RARE
Original Original Orignal THE DOORS 20x13 inches original silk screen poster published in 1967. By my father, Howard Morseburg, Esoteric Poster Company. This is an original silk-screen print. NOT a litho. Each poster was hand-pulled. The poster was designed by Robert(Bob) Wendell, and published on a silk screen press he had set up in his garage. There were a limited number of these printed, because it was such a labor-intensive process. All in all. A few hundred were printed, and they were distributed locally(Los Angeles) and in San Francisco. Bob Wendell passed away a couple of years ago. And my father last December. They collaborated on many poster projects together in the 1960's. These are very rare and quite special because of the uniqueness of the silk screen process used. The ones that we had stored and saved were wrapped in kraft ... morepaper and stored in a drawer unit. So they have not been exposed to the light and are in pretty great condition for being 45 years old. There is a little discoloration on some around the edges. But the colors are still bright. 1991 The Doors "Movie" Promo Standee w/Poster **Rare/Vintage/Very Good+**
For your consideration. I have a Nice*Vintage Original/Rare/w/Poster* 1991 The Doors"Movie" In-Store Promo Standee in Very Good+ Condition! Item has Great Image and Color; Couple Minor Issues. Most Notably the Bottom Foldout needs Taped to the Backer and the Front Tabs are Missing(pic#7) for the Topside Bottom Assembly to Fully Secure(Bottom Side is Fine and Slips Easily into the Standee) and a Couple Creases in Bottom Assembly(pic#8) This Item was Used in our Towns Video Store back in the early 90's and they gave it to me after the Promo Period. It's Never been Displayed since the Store(been sitting in dry storage for 20+ years) They also gave me the Poster too, which is in Very Good Shape(NO Tape/Tac-Holes; just minor wear and a Couple Icicles) Items aren't Perfect, but as you can see they Still Display Very Well and ... morew/Some Minor Time& Attention it could be Good as New. October 12, 1967 This night the club had pulled major coup as they booked The Doors at the height of their popularity. The Doors were to play two shows this evening but arrived late and only give one performance at 8:30 pm. It was said to be a powerful show containing most of their first album that concluded with an amazing version of"The End" that blew the crowd away. The Surf Nantasket was a beachside club on Nantasket Beach. Nantasket Beach was also home to an amusement park. Paragon Park, which then featured the world's largest roller coaster. The club was very active in the sixties and the Friday night dances were a year round tradition from the late fifties. Great groups played every week. This show took place on a short tour of the eastern USA during August of 1968, before heading to Europe in September.
