This auction is for a lot of 4 antique glass door knobs from an Illinois home. They are a solid color and not translucent. 3 are black and 1 brown swirl. All 3 black knobs are made for square hardware inserts and have the set screw holes. The brown knob comes with the original all thread hardware. The threaded piece measures 3" long with an overall length of 4.75" They do show some signs of wear due to their age but are in good condition and are very useable. These are 2 door plates- 2 door knobs and a lock. As you can see the one plate has a nice patina& the other. as well as the lock.is just Amazing to look at. The lock turns but will need some work or fiddling with because not as solid as it should be. I am selling this as is- like I do with some other things and then if I get the chance to work on something or bring it in I do and relist different $) Also as you can see the little groove on the side/lower area of lock must have been made long ago from the patina over it. These door knobs are from the 1890's as well but I do not know the maker. They're patina just happened to match very well and the door lock set that goes with them is loaded with many coats of paint and at this point I am listing and selling with these plates. Lot of 6 or 3 Sets of Vintage Glass and Brass Door Knobs -1 is Nickel Plated
Hello everyone. I'm listing in this auction a nice vintage lot of door knobs. Three sets of two and they are made of heavy brass and pressed glass that has a silvery inset that makes them sparkle and catch that light like facets. One of the knobs has been nickel plated and these were mostly used on the inside of the bathroom door to match the high polished chrome look of the day, it has a surface defect that's small and it may be a factory inclusion or it could be from bumping against something like the wall over the years. T he overall condition is great considering their age. They have no chips, no cracks and no repairs, and only two of the set screws are missing that holds them in place on the threaded shanks. The brass is somewhat oxidized with the desired original patina and they have just a bit of paint that will clean off, ... morewhich is common for these. Expect just the minor issues and some general signs of wear for items of this age that are true vintage and used in a family home for decades. The glass itself cleaned up nice with just a spritz and a wipe with a paper towel after I took the photos. Feel free to ask me any questions before and after the auction. I think there's enough stuff to complete quite a few door knobs, they do have some condition issues, some paint that will need to be cleaned up and porcelain may have scratches or need clean up. Contents: 8 pairs of 2 knobs, 8 locking mechanisms, 2 of which the thumb latch has been removed, so they're essentially a non locking plate, 8 non locking backing plates, 8 latches, 8 strike plates, and a huge bag of screws, tubes, and connectors. May need brass screws to mount latches to the doors, and strike plates to jambs. This auction is for a pair of antique/ vintage GLASS and BRASS door knobs and a pair of embossed. Somewhat ornate antique/ vintage door back plates. These plates are BRASS- a magnet does NOT stick to them. The plates have a patinated antique brass look to them now- I think they could be polished to shine. The plates are slightly less than 5" high x 1 1/4" wide. These have NOT been cleaned- there is some white paint residue on the knobs and on the back plates. There is rust and white paint on the faceplate of the mortise-type lockset. The bolt moves in and out. But sometimes sticks with spring return- it needs to be cleaned up and lubricated. NO skelton key is included. The glass knobs are both 2" in diameter and match. The face of the lockset measures 7/8" wide x 5 1/4" high.
