I am now offering some of those I don't ... moreneed for your consideration. This auction is for THREE(3) rectangular antique door plates, I believe from the 1920's or 30's. But I wasn't around back then so I don't know for s ure. T wo plates are plated steel- a magnet does stick to them. The third is not magnetic- appears to be plated brass. The coating is a bronze or copper color. These w ould have been used with an old. Large mortise-type lockset and skeleton key- neither is included. P late A measures 10" high x 3" wide. This is the non-magnetic. Bronze-colored one. I believe this plate would have been used on the outside of the front entry door- possib ly exposed to the weather. Plate B measures 7" high x 2 1/4" wide. It is plated steel- the plating appears to be an' antique brass' color. It is similar in design to plate A. But not an exact match. The previous owner"cleaned" these two plates with steel wool, so there are scratches evident. And some finish loss. Plate C measures 7 1/4" high x 2 3/8" wide. It has not been cleaned at all. And is mostly covered with old white paint. It is also plated steel. I believe the color may also be' antique brass' But I can't tell with the paint. It is. Again, a similar design to the other two plates, but not an exact match to either. I received plates A and B as you see them- I do NOT have any knobs or screws to go with them- sorry. The 4 screws that were holding plate C to a door are includ ed, but there were no knobs on the door. This auction is for only these T HREE door back plates. Photography is not one of my strong points. So I took two pictures to help you evaluate these escutcheons. The doll a r bill is shown only to give you an idea of scale. But you are bidding on. Vintage Mortise Lock From Fort Mackinac Mackinac Island Michigan
This mortise lock definitely shows its age but I wouldn't change a thing about it. I picked this from a friend who used to work for the State of Michigan on Mackinac Island in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. Just something that was getting thrown into a junk pile.I can't imagine the history that was tossed out.This mortise lock is from a door in Fort Mackinac. My friend estimates the age at 1860's to 1870's but it could go back farther than that. A lot of 4 locks. First is marked MADE IN ENGLAND SECURE 2 LEVER. Very solidly built brass. Flush mount for china cabinet or other application. It is 2 1/2" x 1 1/4" Takes a skeleton barrel key. No key found. Second is marked PAT'D MAR. 24. 1868. On the other side. Marked 4 and 597. Also solidly built brass. Open mortise for a desk or drawer application. It is 2 3/8" x 1 3/4" with a 1/2" face plate. Takes a flat key not found. Both of these are in really excellent condition with old patina. The other two are basic brass plated rim locks not too old and unmarked. These are without catches for the jamb side. The first two are. This auction is for a pair of antique/ vintage GLASS and BRASS door knobs and a pair of embossed. Somewhat ornate antique/ vintage door back plates. These plates are BRASS- a magnet does NOT stick to them. The plates have a patinated antique brass look to them now- I think they could be polished to shine. The plates are slightly less than 5" high x 1 1/4" wide. These have NOT been cleaned- there is some white paint residue on the knobs and on the back plates. There is rust and white paint on the faceplate of the mortise-type lockset. The bolt moves in and out. But sometimes sticks with spring return- it needs to be cleaned up and lubricated. I have a rarer"AMERICA" pattern. Hard to find, heavy iron mortise lock made by the Norwalk Lock Co. Mid to late 1800's, for your consideration. Heavy iron box construction with chunky latch and deadbolt slides. Heavy brass drive gear and brass doorknob collar as well. Backplate is cast iron. Pattern marked" AMERICA" 8937. Drive gear engages and disengages latch slide smoothly. I do not have the original key so you will not be able to lock the room while away until you either find a key that works or have one made. Face plate of box is a heavy cast brass manufacture and the strike plate is a heavy brass stamped design. Doorknob is iron with a brass collar. Thumb handle and trheaded 1/4 inch standard drive is iron. The rosette is a pressed steel. Lock box mortise cut is 3 3/8" deep x 3 1/4" high x 11/16" ... morewide. The Brass face plate is 1" x 5 3/8" x 3/16" wide. The offset includeing the thickness of the brass face plate is 2 9/16" To inside edge of face plate is 2 3/8" I included the appropriate, vintage brass stock, installation screws to save you money as well. Really a nice early quality lock for your authentic shop home or garden repair or renovation. Upon inspection, springs are strong and looks intact and ready for another lifetime of use. I have other matching sets of these although I am not sure how many at this point. If interested, I will dig all that hardware out and see where we are. Other wise this is for this one complete lockset, as pictured, other than NOT having the original key. Questions welcome other wise what you see is what you get. Flat ship to the US is 6.60. Old antique vintage door hardware Mortise Lock and skeleton key set L99
Mortise lock has a face plate of 7/8' wide. 5 5/8' tall, 3 1/8' deep. The backset for the knob spindle is about 2 3/8' Distance from spindle center to keyhole center is 2 3/16' Comes with one tested and functional skeleton key. Also comes with the strike plate. I test the key multiple times on both sides of the lock to insure fit and function as well as the knob spindle. The strike bolt can be reversed for doors that swing the other way. The faceplate has a chrome plate finish with some spotting. Auction is for the lock shown. This is a used working antique lock.

Antique/vintage 12-faceted clear glass crystal fluted door knob pair on spindle. With brass shanks and New York style back-plates of heavy-duty stamped sheet brass with skeleton keyhole, but no key. Plates are separated by heavy cast iron black enamel-coated mortise lock, embossed: Sargent New Haven. Conn. U.S.A. Complete antique knob and door hardware set for restoration project or period home. Fluted glass knobs were popular in the 1920s and 1930s. This was recently purchased from the estate sale of a 1930s-era Sullivan County/Catskill Mountains bungalow colony in Rock Hill. NY that was going out of business. A beautiful piece of by-gone Borscht Belt history! Dimensions: Knobs: 2" diameter; Spindle hard to measure in knob. Appears approx. 1-3/4” L x 5/16” Shank diam. approx. 7/16” Back-plate rosette diam. approx. 11/16” Back-plates ... more2-1/2” W x 7-1/2” L; Mortise lock 9/16” thick. 3-9/16” tall, 3-1/8” deep, with lock face plate 7/8” W x 5-1/4” L. Lock will need servicing and surfaces need cleaning up- brass is lightly rusted and tarnished. And there are traces of white paint down mortise lock face plate and along back-plate edges. History of Sargent Manufacturing: Sargent& Co. was known as a high quality manufacturer of locks and door-related mechanisms. The Sargent family entered the hardware business in 1810. Joseph Bradford Sargent and his two brothers operated a wholesale hardware business in New York City and later bought an interest in one of their suppliers.
