The mantle is about 80" high, 54" wide and 10.5" thick(when looking at the shelves) The mirror is 23" x 13" The shelf height is 23" this is space the space between the shelfs. The mantle fits over a fire place he is 35" x 35" The actual hole size is 35.5" x 35.5" The paint is cracking and chipping from age. It looks like some one tried to white wash the entire piece. Up for auction is a rather rare German Art Deco Machine Age mantel clock. Circa 1920-30. Dimensions are approximately: W- 12.5" H- 10.5" D- 5.5" Maker: Unknown. The manufacturer is not label on the mechanism or case. Mechanism: The clock has an 8-day time and strike spring driven mechanism. The mechanism looks fairly clean and is in working order. The clock strikes once on the half hour and the number on the hour. The pendulum is a replacement. The case: The case is comprised of 2 different woods. Oak and I believe rosewood. Someone told me the base was teak, but I don't believe its accurate information. The case still has the original finish. There is a small slice, approximately 1.5" in the veneer by the numeral"3" Please see the photo. The metal dial and hands are original. The clock will come furnished ... morewith a winding key. The winding key is new and not original to the clock. I believe the clock looks much better in person. Just a real cool Art Deco piece. This clock is being put up for auction in running condition. Base is solid, backboard has no extra holes other than 4 for movement, 2 for gong, 3 for alarm mech. and 1 for alarm bell. Alot of times the backboard looks like Swiss cheese, but not on this one. The door is solid, on it's original hinges, held by the original brass latch. I see no breaks in the top splat, very solid. Outstanding 1880's Brownstone Highly Carved Mantel Top 24.25" Deep
Up for bid is a very sweet highly carved mantel Shelf.however this thing is 24.25" deep so know it could now server another 130+ years as a Bar. A Kitchen bar top, etc. I am told that it came out of the 3rd floor of a Philadelphia Brownstone. There are many forged nails in this mantel shelf helping validate the age of this piece as 1880's period. The carvings on this mantel shelf are beautiful and without loss. The wood appears to be painted Quartersawn Oak, however top is of a different wood species and should tell us this thing was always painted. This is a vintage Sessions mantel clock. I believe it is pre 1920 because the label reads GOVERNOR eight day- half hour strike-cathedral gong- turn back The Sessions Clock Co. Successors To The E. N. Welch Mfg. Co. Restore or early hard to find parts. All of the functions appear to work. The chime and gong do function on their own. The face plate has been painted but everything else appears to be very salvageable. I did not see another one with this label or access cover So i can't be sure of what we have here. VINTAGE 8 DAY VICTORIAN GOTHIC STEEPLE MANTEL CLOCK~NEW ENGLAND CLOCK CO & KEY
8 day spring wound pendulum clock with key by the New England Clock Company. Bristol, Connecticut. The clock has a number on the back 2120 and the directions(see pic. 5) Has a solid wood case in the Victorian Gothic Steeple Cathedral Design. Glass on top and bottom of door are separate, bottom has black border around a vine of gold and then the gold diamond pattern on clear glass makes an inner square. Top panel of door is clear and shows face with black Roman numerals and black clock hands with floral design. It does have some minor surface scratches and a nick or two. Normal vintage wear and does have a plastic label on inside of door placed by previous owner(see pic. 7) The pendulum does swing and is in working condition. It has a very soft chime, chimes two notes on the half hour, and chimes the time on the hour. I will remove the pendulum ... moreand it will be separately wrapped. An antique Sessions Mantel Clock dating to the early 1900's. We are pleased to present this antique Sessions Mantel Clock for your consideration. An estate piece. The Clock is housed in a wood cabinet and has decorative metal trim. A key is included(not original to the Clock) which will fit the two winders. The small end of the key will fit the control at the"12" on the dial which allows the Clock to be sped up, or slowed down, as needed for the best accuracy. We date the clock to circa 1910. The cabinet measures 10-3/4 inches high. 10-1/2 inches wide, and 5-3/4 inches deep. It weighs 7 pounds. The face is marked MADE BY THE SESSIONS CLOCK CO. FORESTVILLE, CONN. U.S.A. We did not see any markings on the movement. Physically. The Clock is in pretty good shape. Wood surfaces show normal age appropriate wear, more so on edges and ... morecorners, but without any significant problem areas. Exterior metal has a significant patina, with some spots of verdigris on the two side decorations which might be copper or bronze. The Clock face shows minimal wear, and the metal trim around the face(protected behind the glass) is still shiny although showing some surface pitting. We rate the physical condition as good to very good. As an antique timepiece. The Clock is offered in as-is condition. We gave it a basic oiling and wound it. The first time started. It only ran a few minutes. However, after starting it the second time, it has continued to run for a period of hours. The gong has not been running as expected at the top of each hour, so we suspect that it needs some service. The movement appears damage free and looks reasonably clean, but please review the pictures closely to fully understand the condition that this Clock is in. This is an older Sessions Clock. In pretty good shape and complete with the various exterior metal trim pieces. It would be a good candidate for a full cleaning and restoration! Today. I have for auction, a really stunning antique Ansonia, Royal Bonn Porcelain mantel clock, marked La Coix. Sadly, it does not work. Comes with a pendulum, but no back plate or key. The ring that holds the glass appears to have been repaired at some point. Wear patterns and aging are shown in the pictures. Clock measures 8 3/4 inches wide. 9 1/4 inches high, and 5 1/8 inches deep. The movement is MARKED with the 1 Million type and the Lenzkirch Mark"AUG" clock experts amoung us know the added value this movement gives to the clock. The movement has the serial number"56/ 728912" Which leads directly to the year of manufactury December 1912-January 1913. This beauty is ... morerunning great and keeps accurate time; Lenzkirch managed to decrease the tick/tock sound to a minimum. Especially with the material(brass) this clock is made of. This quieteness is a luxury. A loud tick/tock would result in an echo. In the front of the clock you find bronze decoration. Which a very deatailed and beautifully shaped. This decorative piece and the(engraved) surrounding of the window. Through which the pendulum can be seen, are made out of 1 piece of bronze! Again a hugh amount of design and workmanship skills. The pendulum is also made of bronze and is richly decorated. The cartouches on the dial are an artwork on its own. The window through which the pendulum can be seen is faceted and extreme thick; the shape it has been made in says it all. The brass. Arabic numbers have been placed in cut marble, a technique which I have never seen before. The hands come in bronze and match perfectly to the pre-Art_deco stye it is made in. Colour wise the bronze hands are"in the middle" of the brass numbers and black marble cartouches. Everything has been thought of when designing this clock. Antique WATERBURY BELDEN Gingerbread Chime Mantel Clock w/ Key Runs Great
This clock works great. Keeps accurate time, and has a beautiful gong/chime. This model is called the Belden. It's in gorgeous condition and has the fancy stenciled glass on front, the original face/dial, hands, and pendulum. The key is a newer one but works just fine. There are just 2 splits in the wood at the 2 and 10 o'clock hour. They are hardly noticable and quite normal for a clock that is 110 years old. It chimes once at the half hour, and the number of hours at the top of the hour. It is all hand carved, not pressed and dates to 1902. The original labels were saved and taped to the back of the case by it's previous owner. We should have shot a photo of the movement while we had it opened up a while back, but didn't think of it.I think we were more thinking about possibly keeping this one! But, our house is really full ... moreof clocks and we just can't keep every one we fall in love with! The measurements on the clock are as follows: 22" TALL x 15" ACROSS AT BASE x 4 1/2" FRONT TO BACK. There is a small brass hinge to open and close the front door for winding. Description This is an exceptional fireplace mantel that was salvaged from a Victorian Brownstone in Brooklyn. NY. It is made of oak and was painted. 80% of the paint has been stripped off. The upper shelf has a serpentine shape and is supported by full length columns that are partially fluted with carved capitals. The top has it's original beveled mirror. There are 2 small carved corbels and a band of carving below the lower shelf. There are return moldings that wrapped around the chimney. It measures 65.5 inches wide by 84 inches tall. It is 15.5 inches deep including the returns and 12.25 without them. The firebox opening is 41.5 inches wide by 41.5 inches tall. Overall it is in good condition.
