Antique Passage Lock Surface Mount Brass Knobs Spring Loaded Lift Latch
Antique surface mount passage lock or latch. The knobs are brass. The rest is iron. Turning the knobs lifts the latch. It is spring loaded to return to the locked position. Knobs are 1 5/8" across. Nice brass early mid century door lockset manufactured by Dexter for your consideration. This lockset comes to you nearly complete other than the two brass screws for the strikeplate catch and the original catch for the secondary locking latch that works with the turnkey. Most any brass catch would work for this. The large handle is solid brass and the thumb latch spring feels good for reuse. This set comes with two latches. One for the doorknob handle set latch and the other for the secondary locking latch. Most of the brass will clean up some as well. This is a standard 2 3/8 inch offset although it was taken off an exterior entrance door. There is no key although any locksmith could make one for this lockset. A nice addition for a vintage renovation. Vintage quality at a fraction of the cost with a low start. I've never seen a metal trunk before and when I examined it more closely I saw the English registry mark on the latch along with double lion imprint. See photos. The trunk has bright blue painted interior(probably not original) Measures 24" length by 17" wide and 16" tall. One side is missing the 2 bottom metal straps and there are 2 holes on the bottom side where the screws would have been in place. I have seen the built in cupboards and cabinets that generally held important veterinary medicines and or chemicals that need to be behind a secure door. The"keeper" mounted flat on the door frame and the sliding bolt action latch was mortised or inset into the thick cupboard door. It has a wrap around metal band that is about 1.25"deep. So the door would be at least that thick. It could also have in a kitchen or pantry. I can see that the sliding thumb latch is brass. 1960's Collectible Cross Business Card Case Leather and Brass w/ Sliding Latch
This is a business card case made by Cross. The same maker of the famous pens, sometime in the 1960s. It's a thin case, with a metal frame and covered in black leather. It's is excellent condition for it's age, and doesn't appear to have been used much, if at all. The metal appears to be brass and has some tarnish in places, and the only other issue to report is extremely minor wear under the sliding latch. The latch slides easily to one side, and the spring loaded case will open gently and completely by itself. It has a piano-style hinge that runs the length of the edge. It has two small slots on one side that hold cards just less than 3" x about 2-1/4" It is embossed with the initials G.J. in gold on the inside of the case, above the golden Cross shield emblem. Pulley Cast Iron Antique Porcelain. Very Old Porcelain Pulley Cast Iron Cage Housing Comes With Antique Gate/ Door Latch Pulley Diameter 2" A Mega-Rare Hard-To-Find Piece I took the pulley apart. Gave the pieces a thorough cleaning, and removed loose rust and scale. Finished the metal parts off with high-quality penetrating oil. The unusual gate latch has a spring-loaded closure and measures about 6" in length. I re-frayed the end of the holding pin(axle) of the pulley so that it will not come out. The coins are only photo props to help show size and do not come with the auction. There are no breaks. Cracks, or chips in the porcelain, but may show casting marks. I believe this was a light duty clothesline pulley. Selling as old-timey primitive decor and for the discriminating collector of unique rare artifacts.
