1970's Bernat Latch Hook Rug Canvas GOLD MING inc.All Bernat Tabriz yarns & hook
This is a cool find-a Bernat Latch Hook Rug titled Gold Ming that must have been part of a kit. And amazingly, all the Bernat Tabriz yarn required is present and accounted for. High bidder gets all 60 packets needed to complete this project. Three of the precut yarn bundles have slipped their packets, but I believe all pieces are present. I will place the 3 packets that have come loose in three separate Ziploc bags to keep them from spreading around too much. All yarn is in the correct colors and codes/lots for the kit as shown on the label. I am guessing everything was purchased in the 70's. The paper that went over the rug canvas has a date of 1977. I noticed in one of my pictures. The lighting made the yellow gold colored yarn look like two different shades. It is not. They all match color and lot# wise as they should. The golden yellow ... morepackets have the Tabriz number 5575, which shows under the rug requirements as the color Amber. This would make into such a beautiful 29" by 45" rug. The only thing you will need beside the time to make it would be 5 yards of rug binding. Which is not included. I can't get over how nice and new the rug yarn still looks. I look nothing like I did in the 70's. But then I did not spend most of my life in a storage container like these guys obviously did-and a dry, smoke, odor free one, too, because absolutely no bad smells or smoke. Super, super clean. The packaging is the worse for the wear, but everything is legible and the cotton canvas is like the yarn-in as new condition. There is even a hook or whatchamacallit. Bright. Cheery, and funky vintage quilted vinyl patchwork sewing box. This is a nice-sized box with plastic(lucite? handle, metal clasp and hinges, and a removable plastic notions tray. There is also a plastic pocket on the underside of the lid to hold more items. The box measures about 14 3/4"L x 9 1/4" W x 8" H. The plastic notions tray is about an inch deep. So there's about 7 x 14 3/4" space under the tray for storage. The box is in great condition. The inside and outside are very clean and there are no tears in the vinyl, though there are some random loose threads. There is a spot on one corner where some of the orange has smudged off. Late 18th / early 19th c. Blacksmith Forged Wrought Iron Door Latch & Hook

In another listing we have a Victorian era Lightning Rod or Weather Vane copper bracket that came off the same structure that this latch was recovered from. A late 18thc or early 19thc barn that literally just fell in on itself from lack of maintenance& repair. A shame really but keeping old barns in good shape is expensive. And not alot of people who own old homesteads today have the resources, funds or skill to maintain them. This poor barn took too many years of New York snow's, and in the winter of 2013 it just caved in. This early blacksmith wrought door latch was extracted from the frame of a side door. It is complete. Including both iron staples used to secure the latch, the ... moreother being the end that took the hook. I have them wired together so I didn't lose the pieces, but the main latch measures about 4.25" long. The staples are about 2.25" long each. Great shape for being weathered for 200 years or so nice patina to the iron yet still fully functional, not rotted.I love the twist in the iron I wonder if this was done for decorative purposes or for strength?
