Vintage Japanese Kanna Plow Plane hand-forged iron, dble knickers and fence arm
Here we have a Vintage Japanese Kanna Fenced Plow Plane. The Master Craftsman made this plane out of oak and hand-forged the cutting iron. The chip breaker, the double knickers and the fence arm. It has an oak wedge to adjust the fence. The Master Craftsman placed his Maker marks on the cutting iron and the two knickers. The cutting iron is 13/16" wide. The plane body measures 10-1/4"L x 1-3/8" W x 2-1/2" H. The wood has an excellent aged patina. This plane is very solid and sturdy. There are no cracks or breaks in this plane. Apologies: the oak had a small knot in the rear section(see pics) and over time small pieces of wood have fallen out of the knot. This has not altered the function of the plane.

In the Victorian age. Child mortality rate was ... morequite high. When a wealthier family had a child die, they quite often buried the child right on their property. The child would often be buried without headstone and have a fence erected around the area and turn the somber area into a small garden, so the child would continue to bring joy, long after the sorrow passed. Normally those gated cemetery gardens would be short ornate wrought iron fences. Thus making us think that that is what this is. Awhile ago from the same general area this came from we had another much like this with the same type of ornamentation. That was signed by a local blacksmith, John J. Comerford, thus the attribution. We ended up with two sections, this is the first of those two. The overall piece has 5 spear top spikes topped and four sections topped with a decorative Fleur de Lis cap as well as the two end bars. It does have the standard issues any 130 year old outside iron fence would have. It has a fair amount of oxidation. Some bends, old paint in several colors, BUT what an amazing fence section. I am very pleased to offer this very nice Victorian 1800s corner/garden gate end post that was recently found recently in an estate in Western New York. The piece measures aprox 50" tall and is 6" square with original topper and end plate that you could attach to a sidewalk or platform of your choosing. Here is a great set of 9 garden fence or gate decorations from the early 1900's- so very Art Deco. The set is made of a hammered metal- iron? which has highlights painted in gold. Burnished gold and deep red. There are three large[8-1/8" tall by 3" wide] double-pointed decorations which would snap onto another piece of fencing. The snap part[shown in photo#9 and 11] is approximately 3/4" wide. The six smaller inserts are 5-3/4" tall, with the insert at 5/8" wide and about 1-1/8" long. This listing is for a set of 41 pieces of Garden Border Fencing. These are not really an item I am familiar with and I couldn't find any exactly like them to compare. I believe they are vintage. Cast/wrought iron and“powder coated” not an expert, so these are guesses) They are very heavy, not cheap flimsy metal like modern ones. They do show some weathering. I do not have time to detail each and every mark. Most are in good condition, a few show more wear/rust than others(see close up of worst example, maybe 1/2 dozen or less) They have hooks/hinges on the ends to hold together/rotate direction. There are 30 that are about 18” wide and 11 that are 6” Which if I did my math correctly is about 50 feet. This is an auction for 14 cast iron flower garden fence panels. They are 18"x18" total each but depending on how far you put then in the ground they will be 10" at the shortest. Legs are about 8" long. This would be great for a decoration in a garden or a craft project. This auction is for all 14. I do have a total of 11 good ones with no damage a 3 that have some damage(1 missing both legs and 2 missing 1 leg) The damaged can be fixed by brazing rods to bottom which would be unseen when pushed in the ground. Wrought Iron Driveway Gates 11' 5" outside hinge to outside hinge. Beautiful antique wrought iron driveway gates. Both sections are about 4' high at the hinge/post end and 5' 3" at the center end so if you mounted them with 12" ground clearance the center of the gates would be 6' 3" from the ground to the top of the gate where they meet in the center. The right section measures 5' 4" long while the left section measures 5' 5" long end to end not including the hinges which add another 4" each end which gives a clearance of about 11' 4" gate post to gate post. Hinges move easily. These gates are very heavy. you might want to pound the slight bend out of the left section post end 1/2" steel piece. This amazing iron fence set is fresh to the market from a local estate. The set contains three six-foot posts. One six-foot post that unfortunately has been broken. Straight off the farm of the Missouri Foot Hills. An Antique Horse Head Hitching Post Topper. There was a pair at one time, the mate was stolen. This one that is left has been around for 4 generations. Made from Cast Iron, this piece has a single seam down the middle and and signs of hand forging on the face and neck. Its details are so beautiful and the Horses Mouth holds the ring that once tied off horse reins. This relic would make a fine piece of Art to display in your home on a coffee table or Book Shelf. The bottom once was connected to a pole and the fragments of the welding can still be seen on the bottom(picture 6) There is a piece of cast that makes it rock a little when pulling or pushing. The piece is very heavy and stands up fine as is. The base has a very nice zig-zag design to add character and make it even more interesting ... moreas a piece of architectural salvage. Size: 9 7/8" tall. Base- 4 1/4" Nostril to neck- 7 1/4" 3 1/4" wide, ring- 3 3/4" VERY HEAVY! Condition: The iron appears to have the original finish on it.
