Old French Style Barn Doors
A pair of old forest lumber French style doors that were taken out of a barn that was built by Charles Ward(owner of Brown and Bigelow) in the thirties. He built the barn for his prized Arabians. Each panel measures 81 inches tall by 29 inches wide and are solid oak. The windows measure 16.75 inches tall by 6 inches wide. As you can see two of the windows are broken. At sometime in the past the doors had been white washed but once planed the beautiful grain will come out. This is a LOCAL PICK UP sale. Antique Late 18th Century French provincial Armoire Doors w/ Iron Flowers Basket
Even though these old doors show some wear and damage I absolutely love the look of them and think they would make a great decorative item. You could hang these on a wall. Put them in a garden that is protected from the weather(I wouldn't want to leave these outdoors and damage them) or just a number of things. I believe they probably originally came off an armoire or something similar, they do have a lot of age to them. I think they might be as old as late 18th century. There are iron rods that run the length of the doors. You can obviously see in the pictures that they show some wear and one of the doors is missing a section on the bottom. For your consideration- Wonderful set of vintage etched glass French doors. These were reclaimed from a house that was built in 1910. Each door has a etched basket of daisies in them and a large star at the bottom. The border around each of the doors is also etched glass. The wood appears to be oak and is in decent condition. Description This is a beautiful door that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of walnut and is currently painted. Each door has a panel of antique distorted Florentine Glass at the top. The bottoms have a raised panel with fluting. The moldings around the glass and panels are ornate Eastlake beveled. The back sides are less ornate with a raised panel at the bottom. The doorknobs will need to be replaced. The brass hinges are bent but can be straightened out if you want to use them. VINTAGE SOLID WOOD INTERIOR FRENCH DOORS - lot of 4 - from 1920's
These four French doors are from my colonial house in Spring Glen In Hamden. CT built in 1928. Original doors from when the house was built. They have been stored in my basement for 25 years. Three of the doors are 30" wide by 80" long. They are almost 2" thick. The 4th door was cut at one time or another. The fourth door measures approximately 80" x 30" and is about 1 1/2" thick. I am unsure of the type of wood. From looking at others I think they are maple because that was the wood used in that time period but, again, I am not 100% sure. Local pick-up is in Cheshire, CT. Each door has a solid Douglas Fir core covered with 1/16" birch veneers and features 5 wavy glass lites. Although the 2 doors look like a pair when placed side-by-side. They need a bit of work before they could become a true pair. One door has a lip on the edge of its lock stile and the other doesn't. The hinge stile is wider than the lock stile on the door without the lip. The extra wide stile would make it pretty easy to cut into to create a groove for the lip of the other door to fit into, and make the doors a true pair. Complete/original door guards for beautiful set of double doors(see last picture) Solid brass in fact everything is brass. Even the screws. Only thing that the magnet sticks to is the screw on the reverse that holds the handle in. Look at the pitina/age on the round handles, I know I've opened them up a few hundred times, and I only lived there 10 years,out of their 150+ years. These came from a old farm house in Bucks county Pa. I have the doors too, but to big to sell on ebay. I found a picture of a Chrismas a few years back that has the double doors, on the left door on the top&bottom you can see them.Beautiful doors with all those etched glass panels, can you believe after all those years every piece of glass is Original, not one replacement,or crack
