Antique Eastlake Dresser with Marble top, Glove Boxes & Ornate Mirror
This is a gorgeous Antique Eastlake walnut dresser with a white Carrera marble top. Ornately carved pivoting mirror, and glove boxes. The 3 drawers below have beautifully carved acorn pulls, and the glove boxes have porcelain knobs. There are burl panels on the front of each drawer under the pulls. The drawers have"pin and cove" joints. There is a crack on the top of one of the glove drawers as shown, but other than that, this is a very well preserved piece of furniture. The size is 33 1/2" high to the dresser top x 37" wide x 18" deep. The top of the mirror measures to 69" high. The glove boxes are 17" x 10" x 5" This is a solidly built, beautifully detailed piece of furniture that will last generations to come! This cast iron Victorian lamp hook is 5- 5/16" long overall. With a 2- 1/2" long hook and a 2- 13/16" long screw. This auction is for a complete set of late Victorian Eastlake style door hardware. I recently removed them from the front door of an old farmhouse that we purchased the salvage from as it was to be bulldozed. Everything is there and works but there is wear to the Japanned finish on the inside door plate as we had to strip white paint from it and the lock edge. Normal scratches and darkening. Both the knobs and plates are steel. A very attractive style for either the entry or inside doors. No key.

This is a hard-to-find Victorian Eastlake design by P.F. Corbin. This is the"Canton" design. c1905. Very ornate. This is a pressed steel plate with bronze plating. The bronze plating is now warmly distressed. Condition is very good. No cracks or breakage. No chips. No paint. No rust to the face. But there is miniscule oxidation on reverse. No bending or warping. Design is crisp and clean. Door knob collars are nice and round(no bends/chips) key holes are clean without rips or tears. Measure 5 1/2" tall. They are 1 7/8" wide. Up for bid is a super nice old brass latch/lock for pocket doors mad by K&D Co. I believe they are 100 years old. All in good working condition. The mortise for latch is 4 ½” high. 5/8”wide and 3 ½”deep. The mortise for latch face plate is 7” X 1” X 1/4” The mortise for the pulls is 4 3/4” high, 2” wide, ½” deep. This fabulous Victorian sideboard features an abundance of beautiful carvings from top to bottom.from the center raised panel adorned with raised fancy scroll carvings. Beaded trim across the top, carved half sunflowers, incised carvings, pierced geometric carvings and foliate carved supports. We believe this piece to have its original finish as well as the original marble. Mirrors and fancy brass drawer pulls and also has its original wood casters intact on the base. The locks are all intact but we do not have the key and the right top drawer features a divided section with remnants of the old blue felt lining inside. This beautiful Victorian buffet/ ... moresideboard is in wonderful antique condition, very solid and tight and features fantastic carved details. The right front corner of the marble does have a small chip on the underside, not an issue by no means but just wanted to point it out. I fell in love with this etagere immediately. I still can't tell what the wood is. But I think it's a light colored mahogany. It is missing one finial on the bottom left, and there is a chip on the bottom decorative piece that runs across horizontally. Very strong and sturdy though definitely not intended for use as a bookshelf. 58" high x 27" wide. Top shelf is 6 1/2" deep and bottom shelf is 10" deep.bThe shelves get gradually wider. Up for bid are 5 ornate antique 4" x 4" door hinges from the Victorian Eastlake era plus another different half hinge and another ball top pin.They look to be solid brass. THIS SALE IS FOR A GREAT CLAUDE HOWELL POST CARD OF THE MITCHELL ANDERSON HOUSE IN WILMINGTON. NC. THESE CARDS ARE VERY RARE AND HIGHLY COLLECTED. THIS CARD IS UNUSED AND IN GOOD CONDITION. IT HAS BEEN ARCHIVAL FRAMED IN A LATE VICTORIAN EASTLAKE STYLE WALNUT FRAME. THE SITE SIZE FOR THE CARD IS 5 1/4" X 3 1/4" THE OVERALL SIZE(INCLUDING FRAME) IS 14 1/4" WIDE BY 12 1/4" WIDE AND 3" DEEP. About the Mitchell-Anderson House 1738 Oldest surviving structure in Wilmington. Georgian style house built for Edward Mitchell(d. 1744) native of Charleston, SC, carpenter and planter. Purchased in 1828 by Thomas F. Davis(1778-1846) Clerk of New Hanover County Court. Inherited in 1860 by Margaret Anderson Davis(1814-1889) sister of Dr. Edwin A. Anderson(1816-1894) physician and Confederate Army surgeon, who resided here as early ... moreas 1850. Remained in family until 1911. Operated as boarding house until 1963 when saved for preservation by Thomas H. Wright, Jr. 1918-1993) president of Wright Chemical Corporation; and wife, Elizabeth Labouisse(1933- Founders of Historic Wilmington Foundation, Inc. information from historical marker) About Claude Howell From North Carolina. Claude Howell was a painter in realist but not photo-real style of marine genre, especially fishermen and docks, and expansive seascapes. Before beginning to work, he made many sketches and notes about the light, color, and subjects. Howell was fully devoted to fine art painting and took odd jobs to support that interest. HIs only formal education was highschool, but because of the regard in which he was held, he was hired to be head of the Art Department at UNC-Wilmington when it became a four-year college. He taught there for twenty-one years before retiring in 1981. Exhibition venues include The Corcoran Gallery, Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as Wake Forest University.
