Vintage 1930's Purple Slag Glass Candle Stands Sticks - Corinthian Columns
This auction is for a pair of antique purple slag glass candlestands/candlesticks with Corinthian columns. Very highly detailed overall. Minor mold roughness is felt. But mostly around the bottom base. Not too bad. Definitely older as described and most likely dating to the 1930's time period. I believe it may be Syroco/Dart but the only marking is Made in USA stamped on the back plus the number 4827. There is residue of a sticker. But it is no longer there. Measures 30" tall x 22" wide x 1.25" deep. Mirror is 19.5" tall x 13.25" wide. Some scratches on the surface at the bottom of frame. A few black pinpoint spots on the mirror. Hardboard back. The finish is clean and shiny. There are a few nicks consistent with age. The lower backboard has a partial Seth Thomas label. The board under the case is stamped in red ink 9981 E. Which indicates that it was made in May 1899. The dial has been repainted as the original paper dial had a rip in it. The dial plate. Bezel, glass are original to the clock. The movement is an 8 day ... moretime and strike#89 brass movement. It strikes once on the half hour. And counts out the hour on a cathedral gong. The clock has been running well in my home for a few weeks. As it has been in storage for over 30 years. It should be service and is thus being sold'as is' This clock has all it's original parts except the pendulum and key are appropriate replacements. The original dial pan has been repainted. As you may know, the Toltec people lived in central Mexico between c.750-1000 AD and are considered the direct forebears of the Aztec civilization. My parents brought this statue back to the U.S. after one of the Mesoamerican cultural tours they took in Mexico and Central America from 1965-68. It’s in clean. What I REALLY like about this vase is that the iridescence really runs along and around the pattern in a most complementary way! AND LASTLY what I like about this vase is that IRIDESCENCE ... moreis NEON! I'm a sucker for bright iridescence on my marigold pieces! I took quite a few photos for you on this one so you could see how pretty the iridescence coloring is. Hard to show interior iridescence but GREAT colors inside too! Mike For sale is a very nice example of a Seth Thomas adamantine six columns mantle clock. It has the 89 movement. It is eighteen inches long. Eleven inches high and seven inches deep. The clock was built around 1913. Key and pendulum included. This clock is in extremely nice condition. One slight defect on the top left corner. The clock has been cleaned and detailed. Runs great. The movement on this clock is in great shape. No worn out bushings. Nice clock! I have sold quite a few antique clocks lately so check my feed back ... moreand see what other buyers say!
