Small Antique Cast Iron Heat Register Floor Grate Vent Working 4"x8" Signed Nice
Here is a very nice antique floor heat register with original parts and paint. I don't know how old it is. We bought it about 18 years ago at an antique store and it's been stored in a closet ever since. It's in great working order and can be used for the original purpose. It could also be used for display since the underside has great advertising marks on it. The pics show it's condition very well. There are a few small areas of missing paint on the top. On the screws, and the flip switch. There is also some surface discoloration-slight surface rust, mostly on the inner flip panel area. It's marked on the underside with: S.M. F. Co. S. MILWAUKEE WIS. on each bottom panel. It's also marked 4 x 8 in four places. It measures 4" x 8" on the bottom(the part that fits into the floor or wall) The top measures about ... more5 1/4" x 9 1/4" It's pretty clean, as I removed the dust and grime with a lightly oiled cloth. Beautiful old cast iron heating grate. Design has grid and scroll work. Bead blasted. Primed and painted with Duplicolor 500 degree ceramic semi gloss paint. The shell measures outside to outside 11" X 13" The damper measures 8" X 10" There are words stamped at the bottom. But all I can make out is"PAT. SEPT. 18 1900. The 1900 is pretty light. Grate weighs nearly 7lbs. Please look closely at photos. There are casting marks and other imperfections. This is NOT a new piece. Thank you!

Antique Cast Iron Window Grate Coal Chute Cross Architectural Salvage Harrisburg
Antique cast iron window grate. Salvaged from an old farmhouse in Harrisburg PA. It was used in the basement as a coal chute since it swings open. It has a nice crisscross design and a cross in the center and is very heavy. It has a handle on one end. The back side opposite of the handle has two holes for hinging it. The grate measures just over 11-5/8 inches wide and is 18-3/4 inches tall without the handle. Including the handle it is 20-1/2 inches tall. The sides are 7/8 inches thick. Thomas Jeckyll Fire Grate/ Basket This antique Aesthetic Movement/ Victorian coal basket is in excellent condition with only some minor wear. Designed by Thomas Jeckyll(English. 1827-1881) Made by Barnard, Bishop& Barnards, Norfolk Iron Works c1875(UK) Thomas Jeckyll is the architect of the famous"Peacock Room" which is installed at the Freer Gallery of Art in Washington DC until December 2015. It features a swiveling bottom grate and decorative lion's paw front pieces. The previous owner had it inside a Thomas Jeckyll"Cast Moth Signature" fireplace surround that was covered by a marble mantle via a recent remodel. He did not want to dismantle the marble work to reclaim the rest of the surround and was only selling the basket. The only flaw is a flat spot worn on one of the back wheels. Which is stuck, and a very ... moreslight heat warp in the back plate(too subtle to show in the photos) This has never been painted but has a fresh coat of stove polish(carbon black) It measures 16 inches high to the top of the back plate. 23 inches at the widest point(front) the back is 16.5 inches wide and the front rail is 9.5 inches high.
