It even has columns on each side of the front door. The movement is an eight day with hour and half hour strike on a gong. Note the going time mainspring is broken, so it does need repair. Graduate or that someone special A solid walnut bracket clock case surmounted by a brass lifting handle over a bell-shaped pediment and flat overhanging cornice. The square facade houses a square metal dial above a stepped horizontal base sitting on straight bracket feet with gently scalloped apron. A metallic dial has attached goddess head center spandrels surrounding a circular"silvered" Roman hour chapter ring with closed minute chapter marked with Arabic numerals every five minutes. And carrying stylistic fleur-de-lis half hour markers. The central dial has a matte finish, three winding apertures, open shaped. Its brass-plated movement is a spring-driven. Eight-day time and strike that sounds on the quarter- half- three-quarter ... moreand hour. Its Westminster chimes were made specifically for Howard Miller firm in Zeeland. Michigan. Which also built the solid walnut case. The movement has two jewels and is struck on a series of brass chiming rods with five hammers with a very pleasant and melodic sound. An on-off lever provides the ability to silence the chimes. The case. Dial and movement are in superb condition for this 35- to 40-year-old gem, and the clock keeps excellent time. An added bonus. The movement has been completely restored into new condition with the replacement of all pivots, bushings, and deep cleaned and oiled by a master clockmaker at a cost of more than $200. This clock is being sold at a bargain rate. This same model recently sold on a famous clock site for $628. It is 14 inches high. 10 inches wide and 6 inches deep. My lovely daughter-in-law's french grandfather gave this to her many years ago. She gave several items to me to free up closet space so here it is. The bell is larger than similar bells I have seen online. This bell has a number 140 or 40 as shown. The diameter is almost four inches(4" and the height to the top including the do-hickey used to attach the chain is also almost four inches(4" or about 100MM if I read the tape correctly.
