Antique 1800's Large Copper Running Horse Weathervane / Folk Art Fiske
This rare weathervane circa late 1800's came from an estate in Upstate NY. This is an original Victorian era piece! The hollow copper horse measures an impressive 30” from nose to tail and 15” from head to hoof. I have been told it is a J.W. Fiske weathervane but there are no makers marks so I cannot guarantee this The horse body rotates on an axis above the 18” wind indicator letters. Two hollow copper balls; 4 1/2” and 3 ½” sit atop the indicator. Overall the weathervane is in great vintage condition. With beautiful oxidation and patina. It comes with the original 60" pole, The base has a bend at bottom, from the chimney coming down on it. See last pic. Pictures where taken with& without flash. This item for sale is are 2 antique weathervane glass balls 1 blue in color. There is some minor chipping on each end or mouth of the blue one. But still very much useable.There are swirls in the glass that may look like cracks but i assure you there are no cracks.The white one is complete with its end caps and no cracks or damage.Both show typical wear considering there age.The blue ball measures 5" tall and 14" around. The white one measures 5" tall and 14.5 inches around. If you restore old weathervanes these may be for you.

Zinc Antique James Lightning Rod Weathervane Glass Ball Cone & Finial Old Paint
For your consideration an antique James lightning rod and weathervane. All the parts are authentic and appear to be original to the set-up. I purchase it at an old suburban farm yard sale many years back. The steel cross arrow and James logo are flanked buy a full bodied zinc cow at the other end of the 32-1/4 inch horizontal. It has a 5-1/2 inch. Zinc, cone base-cover and a hollow zinc finial. The dark amber glass ball is 4-1/2 inches in diameter. It stands 33-1/2 inches tall. The black and gold painted surface must be at least 50-60 years old. The condition is very good. I can only see a slight dent in one side of the cow. The glass ball is in great shape as are the cone and finial. It doesn't appear to have any old repairs. It's held together with cotter pins to keep it lined-up. This vane measures about 26" by 18" and when they do come up for auction they are generally two piece with a hollow copper head. It is rare to find a heavy solid Zinc head such as this one, it has one bullet hole several bb dings some seam separation rear leg damage and the tail is currently detached, if you know a plumber or someone handy with a solder torch or possibly a Blacksmith could attach it with lead maybe even JB Weld would be a simple fix to have him back ready for display, email any questions.

Generations from the same family and Homestead have enjoyed this over many years. Horse is considerably good for age. Feet/hoofs some rust and wear perhaps a little seam touch up. Gold coloring shows what you would expect in loss. Horse attached to whats left of the weather vane direction. He was displayed on a wall in this fabulous old farmhouse in Littleton NH and simply a must have since I knew how desirable these are. Barn find. Looks like a handmade weathervane. Do not see no markings. However the base is kind of rusty as you can see in pics. I think the base is cast iron. For your consideration an antique American. James lightning rod and zinc cow weathervane. All the parts are authentic and original to this set-up. I purchased it at an old suburban farm yard sale many years back. The steel cross arrow and James logo are flanked buy a full bodied zinc cow at the other end. The is 32-1/4 inches. It has a 5-1/2 inch, zinc, cone base-cover and a hollow zinc finial. The dark amber glass ball is 4-1/2 inches in diameter. It stands 33-1/2 inches tall. The black and gold painted surface must be at least 50-60 plus years old. The condition is very good. There is only see a slight dent in one side of the cow. The glass ball is in great shape as are the cone and finial. It doesn't appear to have any old repairs. It's held together with cotter pins to keep it lined-up. Old weather vane. One side has old orange paint while the other is naturally aged copper. Verdigris has grown thick in parts. It measures 12 1/2" from feet to top of head feathers. 16" from base attachment to top of head feathers. 13" across from arrow tip to end. Tail feathers are 7 3/4" in height. Both sides are textured with design. Copper side seems more flat than painted side would be nice fit against a wall. It depicts a running horse with a rider on a sulky. American made genre, probably mid 19th century. No maker mark is present. The horse is a swelled body form with raised foreleg, rippled copper mane and ridged tail. The horse's face is copper molded. Ears are tight and forward pointing. This piece has a wonderful natural patina. The verdigris is from years of weathering. The piece has been restored as follows: each sulky wheel was mended using a short copper tubing and a spot of solder; as well. One spoke in each wheel was restored using copper. The rider was re-soldered to his seat. The copper straps on the horse were re-soldered in a few spots; the copper strapping was lightly cleaned ... moreto highlight the straps. This vintage weather vane has been expertly mounted by a craftsman on a copper and wood base. The wood base is two parts: distressed maple hardwood laminates mounted on a piece of solid eastern pine. Antique Complete Lightning Rod Ruby Red Arrow Weathervane Blue Moon & Stars Ball
Beautiful Complete Weathervane with Barn Roof Stand. Copper Rod, Ruby Red Glass Insert in Tailed Weathervane, and Blue Glass Moon and Stars Ball This is a great primitive to place in your home or decorate your garden. This complete weathervane is from an old barn in upstate New York. Where it protected the barn and foretold of the weather for years. It is the perfect size to fit on your mantle over your fireplace, on your hearth, sofa table, or end table. The base measures about 15" high. 14" across(from tip of foot to tip of foot) and about 6 1/2" deep. The base has three feet with appropriate holes for anchoring it on the roof of the barn. The base is beautifully rusty but still sturdy. The feet do not sit exactly flush on a flat surface, but hold the rod upright in a secure manner. However, if you have children, pets, or ... morecurious adults in your home, I would suggest you firmly anchor the piece and place it up so it can not be reached. In addition to being breakable, The tip of the rod is very sharp. The lightning rod stands 26" tall. The lightning rod is marked on its base"BOYLAN" It has the opening for the wiring to be run through it that connects all of the rods and is used to ground them. The rod is made of copper. And is aged with a beautiful verdigris(green) patina on the rod. It also shows signs of wear from the copper shaft that enables the arrow to fit securely on the rod, while spinning freely. This area is rubbed to the metal, with flakes of copper showing through. The tailed cast iron weathervane measures about 18" in length. And 4" high. Like the other pieces, it has aged to a wonderful patina with pitting and rusting from years of exposure to the elements. The ruby red glass insert features the fleur de lis pattern etched into the glass, which was used to represent many things including: French royalty; symbol of perfection, light, and life; flower of the lily; and the Holy Trinity. Description ANTIQUE LIGHTNING ROD WEATHERVANE FINIAL Striking and unusual antique solid brass lightning rod or weathervane finial measuring 4-1/4" tall by 5-1/4" wide. Featuring a three-dimensional fish(guessing salmon) Complete with fins, gills and fan tail, it is covered in tiny scales and mounted to a sturdy pike with solid foot- I don't think the mount hole is threaded. Bearing original old gilding, paint has worn and darkened with age to a rich, bronze color. Condition is very nice with no breaks, chips or damage- one side has lost more of the gold paint and is a bit more dull- there is verdigris within the lines of the tail and here and there within the tiny scale edges- lots of fine scratching, scuffing and general wear associated with being exposed to the elements- I removed the white spot on the fin after the photos ... morewere taken(it was a dot of paint) Heavy, solid and so unusual, this would have mounted to the top of an iron spike on a barn roof top to protect the building from lightning strikes. Large Antique Iron Horse Buggy Fire Department Weathervane Wind Vane Folk Art
This is for a Large Antique Iron Horse Drawn Buggy Fire Department Fire Fighters Firemen Weathervane Wind Vane Folk Art. It measures 36 1/2" inches by 16" inches. It is in absolutely great condition but has been shot a few times with a low powered BB gun because it did not penetrate or dent the weathervane. It Just barely knocked the paint off of the horse around the heart area. It is not warped or bent. It say Pisgah VFD. I Do not Know if it is Original Paint or not and all of The paint shows signs of age and there is minor surface rust here and there, Very Minimal) It was found in the NC Mountains in a Hay loft of an Old Barn. Rare Life Size Antique !9th C Architectural Copper Lions Head Weathervane Style
This 19th century Architectural copper lions head has wonderful original deep patina and verdigris which tells me that it has spent most of it's life outside in the elements. It has never been cleaned or polished. It dates around the 1860's and has nothing missing. It's all there and complete. The only thing I can see that has been done is the seam on his nose was probably resoldered once upon a time. Notice the great life like detail to it. Measures 13" x 12 1/4" and it protrudes about 6 3/4" out from the wall to the tip of his nose. if you look closely at my pictures you will notice that this lions head was made from several pieces of copper seamed together. These do not come around every day so don't miss your opportunity. I am offering it without a reserve.
