antique weathervane arrow with "starline" tail
a weathervane arrow[19 1/4" long] that has no chips or cracks. However the tail[ 5" tall] was replaced with a stamped pc of old tin that has starline on it. I carefully cut it out and crimped the sides down over the wires to make a good connection. The weathervane is made to fit over a 3/4" rod. Thank you for viewing our"starline" weathervane.

Antique Sulky Copper and Zinc Racing Cart/ Horse and Jockey- Weathervane
This came out of an old estate here in Boulder a few weeks ago. I don't see many of these items here. But every now and then they come up. This weathervane is copper, app. 32" long and 16" tall and the directionals are long gone. I've shown this to a few dealers, one says 1930's, the other said 1900. I'm not sure, I do know it is good, and honest. I took a lot a photos, not blurry ones that make you think something is not honest about it. It's a good piece. Well packed.

ANTIQUE FIGURAL cast iron WEATHERVANE lightning rod ARROW..zinc TAIL !!

Antique Painted Metal Zinc Galloping Horse Sign weathervane- ranch? barn? Patina
An estate sale find. I don't know how old this is. I'm pretty sure it's zinc- not magnetic and the bluish silver color. It has what I believe is its original black paint that has peeled away in several spots. Giving it a very nice patina. From hoof to hoof- 36 inches long. From hoof to top of the ear. 18 inches tall. The metal is about a third of an inch thick. The face of the horse has a great expression. Weighs about five pounds. There are three holes drilled into it where either it was meant to be attached to a sign- or its other half on a weathervane or something similar was attached. CONDITION OF THE ITEM is AS SHOWN- no flaws or damage other than the wear to the paint. But there are some vague dirt or dust spots- I did not try to clean it. Antique Weathervane With Lightening Rod & Glass Ball Zinc Horse
Up for sale an antique zinc horse weathervane lightening rod with glass ball. This is old-I am not an expert but I believe it is turn of the century era. The horse is zinc.The lightening rod is copper and other parts of the pole appear to be cast iron. This is mounted on a wood frame and stands 56 inches tall, and has 3 legs that support it on the wooden base(or for mounting) The horse measures 9 by 7 1/2 inches,the glass ball is 5 inches round,the vertical part with the arrow is 21 inches across,the wooden base it sits on is 20 1/2 inches by 7 1/4 inches and 1 1/2 inches high. ANTIQUE ORIGINAL c.1900 DIRECTIONAL WEATHERVANE LIGHTNING ROD ARROW Antique arrow with old deep blue textured glass tail. All original. This was lovingly removed from the roof of our house when we were remodeling. The gentleman who was reroofing our house is an antique dealer and said"you have a real gem on your hands! The arrow is long and measures 17.5" from tail to tip. There are no cracks or breaks in the glass. It is a Sperm whale on a stand with the letters N. S, W, and E for directions of the wind. It is hand made of copper and has the original natural patina and greenish/blue coloration from oxidation. This is not marked. ITEM MEASUREMENTS The stand for the weather vain measures 41 1/8" high. 18" wide, and 18" deep. The whale measures 23" long. 2" ... morewide, and 8 3/4" high. Above: the open seam that needs soldering. THIS ITEMS CONDITION REPORT This weathervane needs a repair. The whale is split at the bottom and does not fully sit on the stand. Up for auction is a vintage cast-metal horse figure from a weathervane. Previous owner said it was off a lightning rod but I find that hard to believe as the pass-through mounting hole is a bit small. Approx. 7/16" Hole is on an angle so the horse is in a rearing position. Item is in well used condition with lots of patina. Multiple coats of flaking paint with lots of loss. No casting breaks. Great patina, 3 free copper twisted wire clamps. BB gun shot to one corner of weathervane(see pic with orange circle) It stands 42" tall. It's 17" wide at the widest point between two of the legs when the legs are extended. And there's ~13" of additional twisted wire rod at the base. The weathervane/arrow is 20" long. My son dismantled this weathervane/lightning rod(and 3 others) off the house of a 97 year old gentleman who had passed away and who had donated his house and adjoining land to a nearby school for handicapped children. The house and outbuildings have now been torn down and construction will be underway shortly. Even at age 97. The man volunteered ... moreat the school every weekday.we can all take a lesson from that man! One of the pictures shows the house prior to demolition. And you can see the lighting rods still attached. The other picture is our handsome son dismantling one of the rods on a beautiful North Carolina morning. The twisted wire moves freely through its guide. So it is recommended to spread apart and affix the three legs of the stand to a piece of wood for display or for actual use so that the wire doesn't slide up and down. The clamp that supports the weathervane can be positioned anywhere you prefer just by loosening the nuts and bolts that hold it to the wire. I will also be listing the three other lightning rods for sale. These. As shown in the house picture, do have the white ceramic ball, but not the weathervane. I also will be listing sections of the twisted wire. Up for auction is this antique"banner style" Eastlake weathervane. Made of all copper(white ball ends are painted wood) This wonderful vane is is excellent condition. Vane has all hand-soldered joints/seams, with a hand cut design in the banner portion. It measures 28-1/2" long overall and is 22" high. The"banner portion measures 28-1/2" long by 10-1/2" high. Although, made of solid copper, it appears to have been painted a dark gold color many years ago. The vane was recently found in the rafters of an old barn owned by a Boston, Mass. roofing company which closed down back in the 1950's. Antique Large Copper Architectural Finial Banner Weathervane AAFA Connecticut
Today we are offering a very rare piece of Americana. We have an architectural finial built in the form of a banner style weathervane! We are not sure if it's base rotated as the wind blew or if it was in a fixed position. Could have been either. This finial bears the initial's C.P. We purchased it from a gentlemen who said he got it many years ago from a sale with items from the Charles Phelps estate in Connecticut. Charles was a famous for being the first attorney general of that state. We have reached out to numerous sources looking for any pictures of his home with this finial in it. We did find one picture of mansion that included a side shot of his gate house. While not conclusive. We believe we can see it on the roof of that building. We do know that this finial was built for someone of prominence and wealth and dates to the ... morelate 19th or early 20th century. This was handmade finial constructed by a craftsman of the day. The whole piece is constructed from copper. We did a small scratch under the green verdigris surface and we can see the copper. The larger tubular parts are made from 2 separate molded copper pieces soldered together as are the various balls. The banner is made from sheet copper. The initials C.P. are cutout. This finial/weathervane has a custom designed museum mount/base that it rests on. We have included some info in regards to Charles Phelps. We want to add that we do not have conclusive evidence that this piece was owned by him. However. We do have verbal attribution from the previous collector. Also given his position with the local and state community, this would certainly be the type of piece someone of his stature would use to highlight his property. Not a piece the common person of the day would have owned. The piece measures 31" wide and about 62" inches tall. BEING FROM THE IRON FOUNDRY MAKES THIS A VALUABLE AND EXCEEDINGLY UNUSUAL WEATHER VANE. NOT VERY MANY STANDARD BRED RACE HORSES WERE MADE OF CAST IRON IN MID 1870s IN THE UNITED STATES. Some OTHER STYLE WEATHERVANES were made in eastern European foundries and are distinctive to that region and are quite identifiable. This one is American. Was installed on, and 135 years later found in a new Hampshire farm barn. The wood stand isn't being sold with the horse.

Antique Weathervane Arrow Front Cast Iron Heavy Unusual Lightning Rod
Up for auction is an antique weathervane arrow front measuring 14 1/2" in length. This arrow front is cast iron. Very thick, and weights 1 3/4 lbs. This arrow would probably have had a large animal for the back end. This would have been on a cast iron or possibly copper tube and would have fit into this arrow front and been secured with the set screw shown in a picture. The set screw itself is interesting in that it has a square head and is fused to the cast iron. The hole size is about 3/4" wide suggesting this weathervane fit onto a standard tube lightning rod. There are no breaks. Cracks, or repairs to this arrow front. Nicely pitted cast iron indicating it is very old. Please message me with any questions before bidding. Antique iron Lightning Rod Weathervane Arrow - Moon & Star - Art Deco Red Glass
Offering up for auction an antique lightning rod weather van arrow. It measures 22-1/2 inches long by 4-1/2 inches wide at the glass panel section. The glass panel measures about 6-1/4 by 2-1/2 inches. The art deco style red glass panel is etched with a moon and a shooting star design. This decoration is actually carved into the glass. There is rust and pitting but no sections are weakened by the rust. There are no cracks in the glass panel but there is one 1/4 inch chip. T his is an old vintage or antique weathervane. I can tell the bar running horizontally under the stork/city is copper. The post that goes into the mounting bracket appears to be brass. The mounting bracket(that attaches to the roof) is copper or brass. I think the stork part is stamped out of cast aluminum or possibly zinc. Painted yellow in color some of which is flaking off in spots. Stamped marking on one side says.IPC.938. HACKNEY HORSE ANTIQUE WEATHERVANE MODERN-S FROM LATE 1800's to early 1900's
For auction consideration is a very rare antique Hackney Horse weathervane. It is all original with a milk glass ball and is cast aluminum with the modern-s arrow from around the late 1800's to early 1900's. I think the letters for the north. South, east, and west are extremely unique. I think it has been a couple of colors. I think original color was black. Then it appears to have been brown and finally, barn red. For it's age it is in very good condition. It could easily be redone and used on another structure. It makes a stunning decorating piece for inside the house which is how I have used it. Early Antique Hand Cut Metal Weathervane Directional Arrow AAFA
Up for consideration is this early antique hand cut metal Weathervane Directional Arrow. It measures approx. 21" long. And 3-1/3" at its widest point. If you look at the photos, you can see there are cut outs down near the end of the direction depicting a"Star, Quarter Moon, and the Sun" these shape,though rather close, are not completely symmetrical in form. Which is why I believe this piece was cut and hand forged. In the center of this piece are two attached rings that allowed this directional to slide down over the pole of the Weathervane. These rings are approx. 3/4" in diameter. The metal used here is very light weight the entire piece only weighs 5 oz. I noticed from the tip of the arrow head. And down the shaft, it is comprised of two pieces of metal together, and they are hollow in the middle, while the other ... moreend of the directional is one flat piece. This arrow, when placed on my finger, was balanced very well too. Upon a close inspection I could not find any Maker Marks. I also did not see any damage to report either. As for the provence of this. Piece. All I can say is that my Late Mother found it while antiquing up in New England over 70 years ago. Antique Swordfish Weathervane/Found on Cape Cod/early 1900s
This is an authentic and honest. Antique Swordfish weathervane that dates to the early 1900s. It is sheet-cut iron with a brass or bronze fitting where it would sit on the directionals' pole. This was found on Cape Cod. The form itself is very well done, and has a sleekness to it that only adds to its charm. Size of the vane is 25" long. It has black paint that looks original to the piece. Condition is as found and as shown. Please look at all photos to form your own opinion of quality and condition. There is some pitting(showing rust) to the iron from being outside. There are also pits from what looks like shotgun pellets. The brass or bronze pipe that would attach it to the pole looks like it has an old repair. That said, the vane is quite stable. Super Neat Antique/Vintage Rooster Weathervane! Large~ Great Color~ Large letters~ Made of Cast Aluminum. I believe. 33 inches in total height. The rooster is 10.5 H x 9" wide. The arrow is 23.5 inches long. The directional is about 15.5 inches across. Each letter is about 3.5 inches high. The arrow part with rooster screws in loose, I guess to spin with wind direction. Bottom part is shown in photo. Not sure how this mounts, I do believe this is for a roof. Can be used in Garden or Yard. Beautiful old Rooster straight off an old Wisconsin Farm! Early Indian weathervane antique vintage from Chief Homer St.Francis
Old Indian weathervane. A personal gift to me from the late Abenaki native american chief, Homer St. Francis many years ago.He told me it was"Older than the hills"I am not representing it as Abenaki,even though I personally believe it is. Rather a gift from the Abenaki Chief. He said it was probably beautifully decorated at one time but has substantial loss In some places. When you purchase it I will be glad to share the true account about my inviting the chief to the State house in montpelier. Weathervane is about 12" wide and 15" tall, copper and possibly steel. There is a 3" post at bottom, built into this as you would normally see. The long connecting pole is only a prop I use for photos.

Absolutely astounding Huge Federal Eagle This is1870s at it's very best Study these photos. Gaze at the ULTIMATE DETAIL on this treasure.Eagle was not on a weathervane but said to have come from an Ivy League University in New England many years ago.
