Antique Vintage Large Weathervane Arrow & 18" Long Directionals (Brass & Copper)
Antique/Vintage Weathervane Arrow and Directionals Arrow was broken in half near the center. I had a professional solder the two pieces back together using real silver solder. He did a great job! Arrow measures approximately 21-1/2 inches long. It has a set screw. Post hole measures approximately 1/2" in diameter. I believe that the arrow head is brass. Pole is brass, and the"feather" of the arrow is Copper. Directionals are a matching set. They each have set screws. Both measure approximately 18 inches long. I believe they are brass. I am not 100% positive. Please judge for yourself. Post holes measure approximately 7/8" in diameter*This set had a huge old molded copper eagle on it. I sold the eagle a few months ago. It measures about 10 inches tall and the tin tail is 8 1/2 inches long by 4 3/4 inches tall. The pump portion is brass, and as you can see we did not clean it, or do a thing to it. The tail swivels but it is somewhat stuck and we did not want to force it. It is also missing the fan type blade that goes on the front. The over all condition is just like you see. This would make an interesting conversation piece for sure. It may even go along with your whirligig or weathervane collection. We see no signs of additional painting on this piece. Classic. Eagle weather vane. Hollow, copper construction. The Eagle is standing on a ball, it comes with the directional arrow and North/South, East/West directions. There is a short 2 1/2" pipe bellow the ball. Does not include the roof mounting rod on which the other two balls are placed. Wing span is 23 1/2" the height from the bottom of the tail to the top of the wing is 16" Arrow measures 21 1/2" long. Everything together weighs 6 pounds. We found it at an estate sale in San Diego. A very nice antique large horse hollow copper weathervane. Measuring in at approximately 31" long and 16" tall this A. L. Jewell styled running horse weather-vane is a very impressive piece indeed. We're not sure 100% of the exact age but we do believe that it is late 1800's or early 1900's. This was just discovered at a 5th generation farm on a small gulf island in British Columbia. Canada.
