Antique Smuggler Horse Weathervane Primitive Copper Farm Equestrian Memorabilia
Turn of the century weathervane 33" long of the famous horse Smuggler. He generally was depicted in weathervanes with his ribs showing so he is fairly easy to distinguish from others, small bullet hole in his right leg, numerous bb dings and a small dent in his front hoof, early rod ends are angled 45 degrees and capped proving age, a hundred years ago it was gold gilded with yellow sizing underneath, I can only speculate what it has gone through since but I can tell you it is has not had a recent applied gilt to look old nor is it a Good Direction fake as so many are these days, email any questions.

Antique Mid 19th Century Gold Gilt Flag Pole Topper Or Weathervane Eagle Finial
This is a mid 19th century gold gilt flagpole topper or weathervane Eagle finial. I don't know exactly how old it is. But I'm sensing 1850s to 1860s. The wingspan of the eagle is 10 7/8 inches wide(27.6 cm) The height of the entire piece when attached to the hollow ball is 9 1/2 inches(24.1 cm) The height of the piece without the hollow ball but with the nail is 9 inches(22.9 cm) The eagle part with the small attached ball but without the nail is 5 3/4 inches tall(14.6 cm) The hollow ball measures 4 inches wide and 3 3/4 inches tall(10.2 cm x 9.5 cm) I'm convinced this is real gold gilding. But like my shipping description says. If I'm wrong, I'll pay both sides of the shipping to return it. I believe the Eagle is made of solid lead or something similar to that. The ball is fairly light and hollow and probably made of ... moretin. It looks like the tip of the Eagle's nose is damaged. This may just be missing gold. But I do believe something happened there(please see photos) There is very little gold left on the back of the Eagle. The Eagle doesn't stay securely in the hollow ball. It just sits there. The Eagle and nail part weighs 1 lb. 10 oz. 736 g) The hollow ball alone weighs 3.7 ounces(106 g) I have a feeling this is a pretty rare piece.

ITEM: Rare Vtg or Antique Mini Table Top Weathervane. Brass and Copper 12” DESCRIPTION: This neat piece was found at a farm estate sale in mid-Michigan. I am not sure of its age. It is a miniature version of a horse weathervane. To be used as a table top decoration. It stands just under 12” tall. The horse is about 7-3/4” wide and the base is 4-1/4” wide. It appears to be made of brass and copper. There are five pieces: The horse top, the round copper ball, the North/South, the East/West and the base. When put together, the pieces spin around. CONDITION: The brass has some tarnishing and there are some little dings in the horse here and there. The detail on the eye of the horse is clearer on one side than the other. The round copper ball is in great shape with only one tiny little ding that's hardly noticeable. There is some dark staining ... moreon the base. There are some areas where it looks like some pieces may have been re-soldered. But I'm not sure– it's possible this is original. The back end of the horse on the top is coming apart slightly but it does not detract from the attractiveness of the piece. Great vintage patina! Up for auction is my beloved puffed bull cow weather vane. I planned to keep this forever. But recent medical bills make this auction necessary. I bought this from a local years ago they had a vast collection of weather vanes from back east from a dairy farm. The rod, directional, and vane are included in the auction as well as a custom weighted stand used for display on my mantle. The vane is made of copper with lead soldering. The bull cow is 31" long overall and 21.5" tall. with the balls and directional it is 34" tall and with the stand is 56" tall.

Here we have for sale a lightning rod finial that has a very rare crown point with letter"G" Rod portion is made of copper. Lightning rod portion is 13.75" in length. Has some green patina throughout the whole piece. The rod has some black paint it looks like? Tip is a brass( at least I think it's brass& not copper? it has. 11 point crown point with a letter"G" in the center. I've been told this a rather tough tip to find. This particular crown point is bigger than any other I've seen. Nor have I ever seen it with this letter inside of it. This is an antique high quality full bodied hollow copper Dexter running horse weathervane. It is made from about 26 separate pieces of copper. Each leg is 3 pieces of copper. Two for each side and one for the bottom of the hoof. There also multiple pieces that make up the body and the head. It is about 28.5 inches long 17 inches tall and 4 inches wide. It has a nice patinaThere are some loose metallic pieces inside of the weathervane that rattle around when it is moved. There is some damage to the front leg and has a separation at the the seam. The leg is strong and displays well. There also looks like there may have been some repair to the rear left hip area at some point. There is a small dent on the right front shoulder area. This original vintage floor lamp dates from the early 1900's. Has an unusual original BIrd weathervane bridge-arm(usually cast-iron) Working socket on adjustable swivel mount. Lamp has twisted brass tubing and a cast iron pierced 3-toed base. Lamp is in as found good used working condition with older vinyl wiring. Lamp has a great darkened patina overall. Now this was a cool find! Up for bid is this AWESOME ANTIQUE. COPPER WEATHERVANE of a DUCK FLYING/ LANDING. I am not an expert but I think this is Copper from what I can see. Has great Patina and Verdigris Look. I cannot find a maker on it anywhere. The Duck itself measures about 17" wingspan and about 11" high. Overall with the roof bracket attached to the top it is about 27" tall. Has two Lightning Balls. I think they are copper. I wish I knew how to tell this is for certain Copper. it sure looks like it to me. Light weight due to Hollow design. I would not think its Tin. Was told this came off of an old barn out in Kansas and was moved back here years ago to Altoona. The Duck spins very free. really cool. The North South East West spins but a little tighter. I did not adjust or anything. There is one" newer" screw ... moreon it. Very old. I am guessing 80-100 years? Such a great piece of Art. I see one similar on Ebay. Antique Large Eagle Weathervane Found In NH Barn With Original Copper Patina Here is a Full-bodied Large Eagle Weathervane. The wingspan is approx. 25" With the arrow approx. 23" long and 2 balls. I don't have the N. S. E. W. directionals. This piece was found in a NH barn. Nothing fake here. This has all the natural patina just as it was found. I'm not sure of the exact age of the piece or it's maker. So I'll leave that up to the pros to determine that. And I hate to even sell it but I really don't have a place to put it. And it's time that this thing sees some daylight and is displayed properly. The visible flaws I found when inspecting it. Can be seen in the pictures and are as listed. It does need some repair. One wing needs the Soldering repaired on a small split. The other wing has been pushed in a bit on the body. And needs to be pulled out and reset and resoldered. Genuine Antique WEATHERVANE TAIL GLASS - Ruby Red "Hearts & Balls" Cut to Clear
THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL. ORIGINAL, ANTIQUE PIECE. This fine. Cased, ruby-red, cut-to-clear piece of glass was used in an authentic antique lightning rod weather vane. Measuring 4 1/2" x 2 1/8" it was either soldered into the tail of a cast iron weathervane or was held in by clips on the opening. This particular one shows signs of having been soldered in including faint stains on the edges and very small chips on the corners, but it would work in either type without showing those flaws. The drawing above shows the type of vane it was made for, but it will work in many other styles.
