A great matched pair of antique strap/wishbone hinges. The hinges are 18th/early 19th century. The straps are 18-18 1/2" long. The wishbone part is 6"7" wide and 11"12" top to bottom. Up for auction is three sets(pairs) of old cast hinges. These were covered in multiple layers of paint. Some remains in the grooves in a few places. I believe paint residue remains in the"joint" and does not allow some of the pegs to go all the way in. I did not take them apart or force them together in fear of bending/breaking something. Four large heavy antique Victorian Eastlake solid brass hinges with caps from the 1800's in a rare pattern. These hinges are complete but do need a detailed cleaning. Size measures 4" by 4" on the square base. From tip of cap to other tip of cap in length is 6 3/4" I found a treasure box of these antique hardware items in the barn of an old estate. Penn Antique Restoration. Set of 3 Cleaned Antique Copper-plated Steel Door Hinges 4"x4" Beautiful. Antique door hinges salvaged from Northeastern Ohio. Each hinge is made of solid. Heavy, thick steel. The hinges were originally Copper plated, but most of the plating wore off over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. At the point of salvage. The pins wouldn't budge, and the hinges were painted, dirty, and rusty(see last photo) Much time was spent removing the pins, and thoroughly cleaning the parts in attempt them to bring them back to their original splendor. Considering their age. The hinges are in great shape. They have the typical nicks and scratches that you would expect to find on old, used hinges, but there are no breaks, cracks, bends, or gouges. Each hinge has some minor pitting on the insides(the ... moresides which will be visible once installed) and knuckles. The pitting is not structurally threatening, and many people prefer some pitting because it enhances the distressed/antique feel of a piece, but we just want you to be aware of it. Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of Restored Antique Copper-plated Steel"Stanley Works" Door Hinges 5"x5" Rare. Antique door hinges made by"Stanley Works" of New Britain, CT sometime during the first quarter of the previous century. Each hinge is made of solid, heavy, thick steel. The hinges were originally copper plated, but some of the plating wore off over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. Both hinges have a five-knuckle design with ball-tip finials on each end. The"SW" Stanley Works) logo is featured on the back of each hinge. At the point of salvage. The pins wouldn't budge, and the hinges were dirty and rusty. Much time was spent removing the pins, and thoroughly cleaning the parts in attempt them to bring them back to their original splendor. Heavy-duty. Antique, exterior door hinges salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. Each hinge is made of solid, heavy, thick, cast iron and has a steeple finial on each end. The halves or leaves of each hinge is 3/16" thick! About Lift-off Hinges: Each hinge consists of 2 halves. Which are connected in the center by their"knuckles" The knuckle of one half has a pin and the other has a mortise. The knuckle with the mortise sits on top of the knuckle with a pin; gravity holds it in place. To separate the halves, you simply"lift off" the half, which is sitting atop the other half. Once installed, these these hinges will ... moreallow you to simply lift your door off of the jamb; no need to remove the hinges; no tools or spending time. At the point of salvage. Each hinge is made of solid, thick, heavy steel, and has a 5-knuckle design with ball finials at both ends. Originally. The hinges were copper-plated and given a black lacquer finish(Japanned" Some of the copper and finish wore off of the hinges over the years, and the degree of copper ... moreand finish varies from hinge to hinge(see"Group Photos" The hinges were salvaged from a 1907 Victorian home in Eastern Nevada. At the point of salvage. Some of the hinge pins wouldn't budge, some hinges were frozen, and all parts were painted, dirty, and rusty(see last photo) Since then, we've spent hours removing the pins, removing the paint, and cleaning the surface of dirt and rust. There are some nicks and scratches here and there which are typical for hardware this old. However. There are no breaks, cracks, or chips. Unlike the hinges made today. A matched pair of antique strap/wishbone hinges with pintles door hardware
Antique wrought iron strap/wishbone form hinges. The hinges are most likely 18th/early 19th century. The hinges are 11"12" long and are in great condition. The wishbone form is 2 1/2" wide. Normally when you have a combination strap wishbone- the wishbone side is very wide and will not work on a door with a simple door casing- You must have a door and a flush panelled wall- In this case-because the wishbone side is only 2 1/2" wide-a door mounted in a normal door jamb with a minimum 2 1/2" casing will work well- Ask questions if interested Watch for my other early iron items.
