Antique Barn Door Rolling Hinges
Up for your consideration is a pair of antique barn door hinges off an old farmhouse we bought in Vermont. They were on a door and are functional. They measure 11 1/2 inches high and 9 1/2 inches across the bottom with the overlap of the wheel on its furthest position. The groove is 1 and 2/16 of an inch and the depth is 1 and 11/16 inches. They are rusty and there is a 1 and 1/2 inch chip out of one of the wheels that I have tried to show in the pictures.

These hinges came from an icebox located in a house in Aquebogue. NY. The house was built arount 1906 for a potato broker from Connecticut who housed potential potato buyers. The condition of these items is very good. There are no breaks or chips. The hinges are brass with a dark brass patina from age. There are three hinges, a door latch and a door handle and screws that are original. The back of each hinge is marked with the number 14. Each hinge tongue measures 14 inches. Each hinge measures overall 18 1/4 inches. The thickness of each hinge is 3/16 inches. Each hinge weights 3.8 oz. The handle weighs 4lbs 4 oz. The bolt is steel. The original screws are brass slot heads. The weight of the screws is 1 lb. 4 oz.

The rectangular part is 5 1/2 inches x 2 inches. These hinges were salvaged off a barn near Kutztown. Pennsylvania. Offered today is a pair of old hand-forged hinges which are approx. 24" long and 2" wide at the widest point. Complete with 2 mounting pintles which are approx. 9" long. They are embellished with beveled edges and the classical"bean ends" These hinges were hand forged one at a time and show typical. Slight variations-i.e. there is a 3/16" difference in the length of the hinges and approx. 1/2" difference in the length of the pintles(which will be in the wall) They have been lightly cleaned and painted and show a little light pitting on the front and heavier pitting on the backside-not visible when installed. These blacksmith made hinges have forge-welded pintle holes and hot punched bolt holes-1 square and 2 round holes on each. Many possible uses around the house, farm, shop, vineyard, or garden, etc.
