2 SETS! Vintage Antique Victorian/Art Nouveau Brass Oval Door Knobs/Back Plates
Gorgeous brass door knob and back plate set…and two complete sets! Only missing a few set screws. Fabulous back plates with has scrolled elements at the top. Bottom, and both sides. These elegant knobs have a matching scrolled pattern around a central oval button. I started polishing one set intending to install it in 2004. But we moved before I had a chance to finish and get them installed. The back plate is all brass, but has polishing compound that I did not clean up. It will all polish up to a beautiful brass patina. My plan was to find a set for each of our doors. And I had actually found a similar oval set that I am listing…please see my other listings. These are in fantastic shape with only a little rust on the steel spindles and collar. Also. One of the center knobs has some green around the back seam…it should polish out. This set is from an older property built in the late 1800's. I am not an expert in these matters and the information being provided is my best guess. I looked at all antiques knobs being offered on eBay prior to this submission. Yes all 4.000 +) and did not find this pattern design on any currently being offered. I examined the shaft and could not find a manufacturer imprint. The knobs appear to be brass. The set weighs over 11 oz. They each measure about 5cm in diameter and 3.5 cm deep they have the old square cut hand made nuts on the bolts these bolts are about 2cm long, the condition very good old antique condition with one having a small chip to the wood as shown in picture 6.

Not sure if the threads on the glass knob were stripped or not. Currently has a bolt holding it to the shaft but the threads appear to match; seems to be as originally made but will need the set bolt for tightening on the shaft if used. One of the brass nobs has been soldered; the loose knobs do not have the set bolts in them;The knobs with the back plates is fully functional; it has a non key lock which still works. Sorry no screws. They were removed from old homes being torn down. And there wasn't much brass plate left on the faces. I removed the remaining brass plate off with the intent of re-painting them. But never got to it and now Canadian weather doesn't allow me to. The latches come apart easily with one screw and the face plates can be removed by themselves. Two Antique Pressed Glass Door Knobs from Richmond Virginia Home. They are approx. 2-1/2" across the glass part. The dark part on the backs of these does peel off when I scraped one small section so the brass can be cleaned. If desired. That part does have some wear from age and use. The glass is free of cracks. I noticed a few tiny chips which was hard for me to see until I looked at them through a magnifying glass. Someone with better eyesight than mine may notice it more easily though. The narrow part on the back which fits in the hole is approx. 1-3/8" I gladly combine shipping. Up for auction is a 1891 Sarcent& Co. Antique Pair of Ornate Victorian Cast Iron Screen Door Knobs and Lock Mechanism. This set of cast iron screen door knobs and lock mechanism is fully usable and is in very good working condition. There are some light scratches on all faces. Uniform oxidation on all surfaces and some signs of smooth wear from years of use. These knobs have a pewter. Satin chrome look. They are solid brass. The measure 2" across and 2" deep. Very heavy. They are screw on with a lock screw. Set of 6 Antique Vintage Matching Door Knobs, Great Detailing!
These have been cleaned up but could be further polished if that is the look you desire! I currently left as is. In case the buyer is after a more authentic, antiqued look. The metal is non-magnetic. Looks like brass– though one of the door knobs is more silver-colored than gold, see photos, so it seems that the material may vary from one to the other. Two of the sets have connecting hardware. The other two door knobs have screws but no metal bar. All match with beautiful circular detailing on the knob!
