Rare Antique, Victorian Brass Front Door Bell Pull
Very Rare. Solid Brass Antique Victorian Front Door Bell Pull Mechanism. This is an original piece. Quite rare to find one of these. I have had this one for about 40 years now but have never had a place to use it. Would look great in an early or mid Victorian house. I would date this to the late 1800's but that is just my opinion. It is in perfect condition with a very solid mechanism all in solid brass. I spent 10 minutes cleaning the brass this morning and it came up shiny straight away. Needs more work to make it pristine. The Brass is a little pitted in a few spots which is common with this age item and I suspect it was like this when new. The pitting is clearly shown on the enlarged photos but not nearly as noticeable on the actual piece. The brass section measures 175mm x 55mm. Antique Vintage merchants black metal bell, 4 1/8 inches wide and the frame is 11 1/2" longs 5/8 inch wide. It has a loud clear ring! Easy to attach with two holes. Good for back doors or a place of business when you want to hear anyone that comes in. It's in good shape and in vintage condition. No damage or dents. Just a little normal wear and minor paint loss. It's a charming merchants shop doorbell that you hear in the old movies. The leather rope has worn out long ago and will be easy to replace. This is a historic piece. An inexpensive and a dying archaic breed of alarm system. This was a boom town area years ago(copper) and there are a few old merchants bells floating around.

When you turn the knob back and forth it will ring in both directions. It is a continuous fairly loud ring. The rod that goes thru the door(not incuded) is simply a piece of 1/8 inch square which you would cut to length depending on the thickness of the door. The knob is copper, the rest is mostly steel. This bell operates by a pull chain– thus eliminating the need to drill through your period Victorian Door. This was on the back door of an old Victorian home sadly being torn down due to neglect. There are three patent dates on the back– July 4. 1871– April 12, 1877– July 2, 1892 The Bell measures 5” X 3 ¾” and is 2 ¾” from the back to the top of the bell. The pull chain I believe has been replaced. The bell still works very well and has a good ring to it. It is in great condition with very little rust present. This is a antique Mechanical Doorbell with a patent date on back of April 23.1874. The base is cast iron and the bell looks to be bronze but maybe brass. The bell is about 3 1/2" in diameter. It does not have the lever/handle that would go on the outside of the door to make it ring. It is missing the 2 springs that would go inside and mount on the post inside the bell to put pressure on the mechanical parts inside Please see Photos. Antique Vintage Victorian Rotary Door Bell Made in Japan Architectural
Up for auction is this Victorian style antique rotary doorbell. It has a rotating knob that goes on the outside of the door that connects to a bell on the inside via a pin that passes through the door. It was salvaged from an old house that was to be torn down in Baltimore. The exterior section is all brass. Including the two screws. The interior section is all steel. The brass exterior is stamped with some nice decoration, that is easier to see in the photo of its reverse. This doorbell has a great aged vintage look, or could be cleaned and polished to be the finishing touch on a beautifully restored entryway. It is in fully operational condition.

Antique Door Bell Doorbell From Old New England Victorian Estate Pat Asrud Dcr?
I found this antique bell in the basement of an old Victorian in New England. The estate sale had many antiques as the home was owned and occupied by four generations and many pieces were from the 1800's. I don't know much about this piece except that it is a bell- most probably a doorbell. It seems to be brass and wood and there is a mark on it but I cannot clearly read it. It looks something like"Pat Asrud. dcr" The piece is about 7 1/2" x 3 1/2" and as I found it at the estate. Some rust/corrosion? It is made of brass? and wood.
