Hello. You are viewing my auction for a pair of Antique Cast Metal Andirons. These andirons have a Gothic Look to them. Are they Mid Century Modern Arts& Crafts Movement Andirons? I am unsure. They are made out of some type of cast metal however I am unsure of the exact metal that they are made from. They each weigh 16.4 pounds and measure10 and 3/4" wide by 18" tall by 20" deep. Up for sale is this beautiful pair of Virginia Metalcrafters cast iron George Washington andirons with VMC log racks. This pair has the original paint on them. On the back of George Washington is the authentic VMC mark along with 1020. Both log racks has the authentic VMC mark as well. The log racks slide into the back of George Washington by a tapered dovetail design. They stand approx. 14 1/2 inches tall. The log racks measure approx. 15 1/2 inches long and 3/4 inch thick. It appears that they were never used. The paint is in excellent condition on both. The pair weigh approx. 26 lbs. for everything. There are some green spots on the back and on the sleeve(ref. pictures) We're unsure what this is. The rear piece we will call the log holder measures about 9 1/2" and appears to be partially missing the part that would turn down. The same piece has a tapered end where it fastens to the back of the owl and is removable. Will be shipped removed. The owl is marked on the back side P.S.W Co. These were made in the late 1800s to early 1900s. We believe the eyes are glass. They are all in good condition.

Antique Early 1800's Federal Era Hand-Forged Brass and Cast Iron Andirons
These Antique Hand Forged Brass Cast Iron Andirons date to the early 1800's in a Federal Period Blacksmith shop. They have spurred cabriole legs and slipper feet that are hollow in back; the feet and plinth. The brass dressed cast iron billet bar with log stops, and the beehive/acorn/lemon steeple are typical of the Boston craftsmen in that period. They have the knobby baluster and pencil thin-stripe from top to bottom on both sides that date them to the 1820's era. In that era. Andirons were made by half casting the brass and brazing the parts together with a brazing material that left the thin line. The craftsmen changed the brazing material in about 1830. The supporting iron rod is hand forged and the thread at the upper end where the top screws on was crudely cut by hand with a file. See Pic#4 and#5. The 3 1/2" slab of brass ... moredressing at the front of the each plinth(log holder) is not marked but it does add to their authenticity and beauty. Their condition is excellent vintage with a nice patina and no dents or dings. One is just a little less tight on the rod. They stand a little more than 17" tall and the log holder is 15" in depth and 4 1/2" from the floor. They weigh about 14 pounds.

Wonderful set of very old brass and cast iron dancing lady androns. Each stands 16" tall x 6" wide x 17" deep. Each of the andirons depicts a different dancing lady. Brass fronts and cast iron supports. Purchased at a Mt. farm estate sale. Unsure of the age and find no markings. Great origional condition with no problems other than normal use, some"greening" as shown in the pictures. The andirons will be disassembaled for shipping as shown in pic#9. To reassembale you just need to screw on the threaded leaf piece and attach the front to the legs. The last picture is of the nut and bolt to reattach. Very easy but you will propably need a adjustable wrench or pliers to tighten. These are quit heavy, I'm guessing 10+ lbs each, thus the high shipping costs. An original pair of massive wrought iron fireplace andirons or fire dogs. I got from the ruins of a slave cabin in Rapides Parish Louisiana 50 years ago. The irons are approximately 17 x 17 x 5" and are sturdy and still functional despite heavy rust and pitting. The cabin was near the Bayou and located between Cheneyville and Lecompte, Louisiana, the same area where Solomon Northrup spent his early years as a slave. Nice pair of Harvin Brass Classical"Hand finished" Dolphin Andirons. Harvin was the Baltimore company that made all the reproduction brass andirons for Colonial Williamsburg. After merging with Virginia Metalcrafters they went out of business in 2006. The andirons are both marked on the back and have the numbers 1004A and 1004B. They are about 22" long by 15" high by 10" wide. They are as found and have not been polished so they have some dark spots mainly toward the lower parts. The smaller dolphin logcatchers which are often missing are intact and the have a dark patina. The iron supports have areas of oxidation from use. Pair of Antique 19th C Brass Bronze Patinated Art Nouveau Fireplace Andirons
Up for sale is an antique decorative art nouveau brass or bronze pair of miniature fireplace andirons recently found at auction in the suburban Phialdelphia PA area. The brass or bronze front are heavily patinated and very stylish. They do not attract a magnet. The back of the andirons are made of iron and do attract a magnet. They could be cleaned or left in their present patinated state. The backings are loose but the original hardware is there so they could be tightened. They measure approx. 6 1/4" side by 8" tall and 15" long. The other condition issue is one of the tops is folded over more than the other and is a bit different. These are an excellent example of 1920's vintage Arts& Crafts Andirons. The were made in New England by the C.M. Howes company who manufactured Wood Stoves and Accessories from the Mid 1800's until about 1930. The Andirons are hammered steel and were recently repainted. They are about 17-inches tall. 11-inches wide at each base and about 20-inches deep.

They stand 34" tall; 21" wide at the base and weight each approx. 75# Provenance: Were used by the Wurzburg Family in Grand Rapids. MI during turn of century. Wurzburg's were the 1st Department store in Grand Rapids. These were then purchased by the new owners who bought the mansion in 1960. So these andirons have only had 2 owners. Sold unassembled in two seperate boxes.

Dolphin Bronze Brass and Iron Andirons 14.5 inches tall. This a pair of antique Dolphin Andirons. They have never been cleaned and measure 14.5 inches tall by 9.5 inches wide and 12.5 deep. I'm not sure exactly the metal but they probably date to late 1800s or early 1900s. They are in great condition except the the vertical"leg" piece on the very back right one has become detached and is taped on as in the photo. It will stand up fine without this piece. It could be left off. Welded back on, or left or left like I have it with tape or glue.

Elegant Cast Iron Fireplace Andirons
Each of these two substantial andirons is 20 inches high. 18 inches long(length is the part that holds logs) and 7 inches wide. I cannot see a manufacturer name. Both of the andirons have the numbers"64 1/2 64" on the inside. The style looks to be Chippendale to me. A bolt is used on the bottom to connect the log-holder part with the decorative part.
