What we have here are a set of andirons with a story. Back in 1954 in a house on Staten Island The house occupied by the Thatcher family caught fire. Next door at the home of the Raymonds. Father,a fireman leepped to his feet and ran to his neighbors in need. The night ended happily when fireman William Raymond rescued the Thatcher Boys without harm. It was in the remains of the burnt house that Fireman Raymond found these andirons and restored them the best he could. The andirons do not have the bar that goes back and gives you a place to put the log. A weight was added to one side so that the andirons will stand on thier own. These andirons have been in my family since 1921. They are solid brass with cast brass covers on the fire dogs. I can find no makers mark or numbers on them. They have not been cleaned up or polished but if you want to they would clean up very nicely as they have no defects. Height is 17-1/2" Width at feet is 10-3/4" Depth is 21" They will be shipped dis-assembled as shown in the picture for safe shipping. Each one weighs 11 lbs assembled. They are designed to hang on a wall and with a ring to hold flower pots, candles or lamps. They measure approximately 10 ½” x 20 x 6 ½” They are decorated with swirls in a Celtic design. Vintage 8 Piece Set Brass Queen Anne Style Andirons Screen Tools Log Basket
Up for auction is a vintage Queen Anne-style brass 8 piece fireplace set. The set dates from the late 1950s. My family is the original owner. This has been in storage for a few years. The set consists of a pair of andirons. A tool set, a fireplace screen and a log basket. They are nice and sturdy, esp. the log basket. Notice the more graceful shape to the urn-shaped andirons. Many produced later are clunky and not as graceful.There is a mark on the screen that says Flexscreen, Norwich NY. That is the only hallmark of any kind that I find. Now, about condition. They need to be polished, as you can see in the photos. The screen has a small area where the wire has come loose. It needs to be re-attached to the inside. That is the only damage that I can find. As far as I know, these are solid brass. I don't know if the basket is solid brass ... moreor not. It is very sturdy, unlike many brass log baskets of more recent vintage. The tools consist of a poker, a tongs and a long handled shovel or dust pan. Here's the measurements: screen: 38 inches long by 30 1/2 inches tall. The feet stick out by 4 inches. The andirons are 19 inches tall. The feet are 8 inches apart and the andirons are 6 inches deep. Thetools stand 28 inches tall, the basket is 23 inches long, 16 inches tall to the top of the handle and 9 inches tall to the edge of the basket. I am willing to work with you on shipping. Brass fireplace andirons made by Puritan Company,19" tall
These are a pair of solid brass andirons made by a company called Puritan Company. They were made in Connecticut. USA many years ago. These andirons are still in good condition. They do have small scratches and tarnish marks on the brass so please look at my photos as I took many to show this. But they are still a handsome pair of andirons. You would never see the tiny scratches if they are sitting in your fireplace. They are 19" tall, 17" deep from the very front to the back of the shank. The width from foot to foot in the front is 8" wide. The black cast iron shank is 13" deep and the shank is 3" tall. Beautiful pair of American made andirons.

DESCRIPTION– Estate fresh and rarely found Federal period(1790-1830) brass andirons with matching tools and tool jambs. They have double urn tops and finials with beaded banding above round columns that sit on spurred cabriole legs with hoofed or slipper feet in the Chippendale style. Most likely a New York or Boston foundry. The former owner was told these were by Richard Whittingham. Since I am not an expert in this area I am selling them as Federal period. CONDITION– They are in very good and sturdy condition with age related wear. There are possible old areas of repair/reinforcement to the ends of the iron dogs. A tear to the edge of the shovel, and a separation or repair to one of the log stops. The brass needs to be polished/cleaned. In the photos the legs may appear splayed out as they sometimes get. These are a pair of period brass Chippendale or Federal andirons(18th to early 19th C. With spurred legs, ball feet, and the original iron dogs. The andirons are constructed in sections with full seams. They retain an original dark patina. Each andiron is approximately 17.5"H. 9"W, and 16.25"D. They are in fantastic shape for their age with no visible dents or repairs. Neither andiron is perfectly upright, but I would be surprised if they were. They appear to be from at least the first half of the 20th century but could be older. 19" Tall. 10" Middle Length without ball& legs, middle of ball width 121/2. PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER ITEMS!
