Vintage Antique Cast Iron and Brass Andirons Complete Nice
Here we have a pair of antique cast iron and brass andirons. They are complete with back log racks. They are in excellant condition as I have brushed the bottoms and painted them a flat black to protect the iron from rust. The brass tops need a lot more brass polish put on them but they will shine up nicely. The andirons stand about 20 inches tall. The base is 8 inches wide and about 3/4 inch thick. The log rack is 16 inches and are 3/4 by 3/4 thick. I will take these apart so they will mail in a Large flat rate box.

Antique French Hammered Brass Iron Andirons Fire Place Wood Rack Fleur de lis
I am pleased to offer for auction this week a very early set of brass and iron hearth Andirons in excellent condition. These are solid metal not like the newer made sets and their condition is a testimony to the sturdy design structure. Both functional and beautiful to behold. There is floral raised reliefs in addition to the Fleur de lis designs, overall hammered stucco texture of surface design. These measure approx 19'H x 22 1/2'W and have a faint set of numbers imprinted on the bottom side of the iron"tines" I was told these were brought from france and date to the mid to late Victorian era. They are also quite small, measuring just 8 1/2" tall. They are heavy for their size. The back of the spiral foot is signed with a manufacturer's name, I can only read three letters, F- R- A. early American, hand wrought iron & brass ANTIQUE ANDIRONS, c 1720, 16" H.
These andirons measure aboutn16 1/2" in height. 9" across the feet and 18" in depth. The iron trestles and columns are hand wrought. As are the brass heads. The log stops are not an exact match. However this was obviously not a recent repair. The log billets have been worked over.the original back sections removed and replaced with the long sections underneath. We have found a very similar pair exhibited in EARLY AMERICAN ANDIRONS. Kauffman& Bowers, p 35. This set was part of the Colonial WIlliamsburg collection. Extremely few examples are known to have survived. These andirons have the penny feet with low trestle. Circa 1720, a precurser to the more sophistacted designs found later in the 18th century.

DETAILS* These are a Lovely pair of Cahill Ironworks cast iron andirons with bronze and brass finish. They are is hand hammered. They are marked Cahill in diamond pattern and also have the number 82 on the back. I ... morebelieve the ANDIRONS are circa 1900, super Mission or Art& Crafts design, beautiful. Iron Cross like pattern decorates the base and moveable decorative handle of each piece. Cahills Architectural Brass and Iron Works was an ironwork's company out of Chattanooga, Tn. which was in operation from 1875 to 1922. They are 18 1/2 tall and 9.50" wide. Total depth is 19" with log holders. The top point and handles are brass finished, they contrast nicely against the bronze finish of the body, beautiful. The log holders are attached with bolt, will remove for packing. They will need to be reattached when you receive them. Easy to do. Finish shows light wear considering their age would consider condition very good, no rust on decorative piece's. Log holders do have light rust from use. This is a wonderful set of polished steel andirons or firedogs. Attributed to the great English Arts& Crafts architect CFA Voysey. Like his American contemporary, Frank Lloyd Wright, Voysey would design, if the budget allowed, not only the house but all the furniture and furnishings, including lighting, carpets, textiles, wallpapers, and fireplace equipment, creating an seamless and integrated interior experience. Unlike Wright, at least at this period, the 1900s, Voysey also had a thriving business designing for commercial production. This fine example of the skill and talent of the artisans of that time can be showcased on your hearth today. Included in this substantial handcrafted set is the fireplace screen. Andirons, tool holder with four tools and log holder/carrier with handle. In each piece the heavy yet intricate scrollwork and the artistic twist of the metal is repeated. The squirrels in the andiron design will be enjoying the acorn they hold to their mouths. The blacksmith who forged these squirrels has them perched with their famous bushy tails in full display. Very imaginative! The fireplace screen has handles on either side for ease of moving it. It is well-balanced with the scrolled feet projecting 5-inches forward and the stabilizers projecting 5-inches ... moreback. The screen is a heavy mesh and good condition for its age. There is one tiny disruption in the mesh as shown in the photo. The original blacksmith burnt oil finish still fills in a few openings in the mesh as shown in the photo. The log holder/carrier has scrolled edges and is supported on scrolled feet and the handle is movable. The tool holder is well-balanced and holds the brush. Shovel, poker and tong. A welded repair has been made to the shovel to support the metal which had fatigued over many decades of use. Description Super fabulous pair of antique brass andirons-chenets with ornate designs of swags with lions heads on the bottom of the large end and flame top finials. Each measures 20" wide and 17-1/2" tall and extend back 6" They are heavy. Each weighs 17 pounds. I have shown them with a can of coke so you can see how large and impressive they are. Details are shown on the top under the flame and on the sides. The andirons have recently been polished but still retain a deep, rich patina. There is a hook on the back of the bar I have shown in the last picture- there may have been a bar as part of the set at one time. The dolphins are in great condition with an attractive design with scrolled tails facing each other and a untouched natural patina with very little of the original paint remaining. PAIR SET OF ANTIQUE CAST IRON GEORGE WASHINGTON ANDIRONS COMPLETE FIGURAL
Here is a set of antique cast iron George Washington andirons. Complete with log holders. The front figural piece is 20 inches tall, and 9.25 inches wide at the base. Thickness varies from 1 1/8" at the base to 1/2" at the top. The log supports attach to the front uprights by sliding into a bracket; they extend 17.5 inches to the rear. There is some erosion of the brackets so that the log supports do not fit tightly and will need a shim if they are put to use in a fireplace. I have carefully cleaned off surface rust and dirt on the uprights(wire brushed) There was no evidence of any former paint. The set has no cracks or breakage. There are small holes in the area below the back bracket which may have been for pins to anchor the log supports. This is definitely a very old set judging from the wear and patina. Outstanding 19th century antique solid bronze Revolutionary War Hessian soldier fireplace andirons in excellent condition. Original patina with forged iron support legs. These measure 20" tall x 9" wide at the feet and weigh over 40 pounds. The bronze Soldiers are up to 2" thick at the widest point. Support legs are 18" long and have some expected and customary extremely light surface rust. One leg has an ever so slight twist from heat mentioned only for the sake of accuracy.
