A very rare set of three ancient Chinese Western Han Dynasty painted bowls. Dating to approximately 206 BC- 9 AD. Of simple. Elegant form, the decoration ... moreon these vessels perfectly expresses the boldly assertive character of the Western Han Dynasty. The minimalism of the shape is beautifully opposed by the vibrant orange-red hue, similar to those found on painted ‘ear bowls’- used during this period for the consumption of wine. The Han Dynasty is notable for its concentration on organised ceramic production. Mass-produced. Functional vessels, some stamped with place names and government offices, suggest that a true nationwide industry had come into existence and that some ceramic workshops were already state controlled. Yet these striking pieces appear to be of a rare and distinctive type. Diameter of large bowl: 10 ½ inches. Diameter of smaller bowls: 4 ½ inches. Condition: Excellent. Unrestored and with beautiful pigment preservation. Provenance: Ex. British private collection. Acquired mid 1990's. This pottery is entirely handmade as these people had no knowledge of the wheel. Height: 5 1/2 inches Condition: Good condition. Unrestored. Section of rim lost. As shown. Provenance: Ex. CLASSIFICATION: Black-Rust Glazed CeramicBowl(Precursor to“Oil Spot” or“Hare’s Fur” Bowls) ATTRIBUTION: In the style of Ancient China. Song Dynasty(906-1279 A.D. But Most Likely an 18th or 19th Century Revival Imitative. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Diameter: 195 millimeters(7 7/8 inches) at top lip; 65 millimeters(2 5/8 inches) at base. Height: 89 millimeters(3 5/8 inches) CONDITION: Exceptionally good. Almost perfectly preserved. There is one rim chip which was repaired by one of our conservators(visible as an unglazed spot along the rim) Normal tiny nicks and dings, all consistent with a ceramic utensil of this age, and the normal potting blemishes(glaze pits, etc. associated with hand production. Glaze is remarkable, almost entirely intact! DETAIL: A splendid. Very large black/brown glazed earthenware bowl in the style of the Song or Jin Dynasty of Ancient China. This particular style was produced using a black glaze, high in iron oxides. In the kiln the iron would oftentimes come to the surface of the glaze, creating brown/rust-colored“oil spots” or streaky“hare’s fur” patterns on the otherwise black glaze. The style became extremely popular in ancient China, especially with Japanese Monks to whom the Chinese exported this unique and rare product. Tea bowls were the most common produce of this technique. This particular bowl is a variation of this style, where rather than a large number of spots or drips, instead larger areas of high iron glaze were used to produce these large rust-colored streaks in the otherwise black-predominated glaze. Both the tea bowls, as well as larger sized bowls such as this are relatively rare. Both styles of tea bowls as well(oil spot” and“hare’s fur” are a very sought after variation of Song

CLASSIFICATION: Blue and White Porcelain Box/Case. ATTRIBUTION: China. Qing Dynasty, Late 1800’s to early 1900’s A.D. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Outside Height: 82 millimeters(3 1/4 inches) Outside Diameter: 131 millimeters(5 1/4 inches) Inside Height: 35 millimeters(1 3/8 inches) Inside Diameter: 114 millimeters(4 5/8 inches) Height: Inside: 35 millimeters(1 3/8 inch) Lid: 41 millimeters(1 2/3 inches) Base: 46 millimeters(1 7/8 inches) CONDITION: Very good. Entirely intact. A little wear consistent with any household item which is over a century in age. A few minute blemishes typical of handcrafted ancient porcelain of the era– almost indiscernible. Not flawless, but certainly in an excellent state of preservation. DETAIL: A nicely preserved very cute little cosmetic case or jewelry box done in the traditional blue and white porcelain so wonderfully characteristic of late Ming/early Qing Dynasty artwork. The glaze is entirely intact. Vibrant cobalt blue, and the condition of the case is exceptionally good. There are of course a few minor scuffs, marks, dings, etc. As well there are the little blemishes so typical of handcrafted porcelain of the Qing and Ming Dynasties; warts, dimples, pimples and pits; but hardly noticeable except with critical scrutiny. All of the preceding almost unnoticeable and very minor, we’re just playing critic here in the interest of full disclosure. The depiction on the outside on the top of the lid is of three men in an idyllic park setting This is as close to as good as one can reasonably expect of a porcelain box somewhere between one and two centuries old. While it’s not perfect. It is about as close to it as you will ordinarily find of an authentic porcelain box like this, and there are no repairs. Of course realist

The menorah is described in the Bible as the seven-branched ancient lampstand made of gold and used in the portable sanctuary set up by Moses in the wilderness and later in the Temple in Jerusalem. The menorah has been a symbol of Judaism since ancient times Estimated time line: Judea from 37BC to 70AD and beyond. A wonderful piece of History! This might ... moreresult in small differences in appearance. The original item Found in the Judean desert southern Jerusalem. Israel*Please review my other items* All of items I offer are“aged” reproduction(replicas) of lamps and vases. Originally excavated at the Herodion& Juedah and other archeological sites in the Holy Land. Aged" format means the lamp looks as if it has been buried for 2000 years. In fact, one of the most fantastic facts about these items is that they are being handmade manufactured in the same ancient techniques as used millenniums ago and from the same mix of terracotta, clay, mud, etc. Dear Buyer The distance this item needs to travel is great and unfortunately postage from Israel is expensive. Please note that it might take between 2 to3 weeks for your purchase to reach you. I pack all items individually and make all possible effort to ensure that your purchase arrives free of scratches and breakages. This unfortunately. Means that at times the packaging doesn't look its best. But, as we know, we must not judge a book by it's cover… Your full satisfaction is important to me. Please remember that behind the item you had purchased there is a human being. Not

Roman terra sigillata pottery sherds found at Vechten(The Netherlands) The shard with the cow is repaired with glue. One shard(left) is part of an terra sigillata oillamp. Some information about Fectio(Vechten) Fectio. Modern Vechten, was a fort in the limes, the frontier zone of the Roman empire, situated at the site of the bifurcation of the rivers Rhine(which continued to the North Sea) and Vecht(to Lake Flevo and the Frisians) Numismatic evidence suggests that it was founded by the Roman general Tiberius(the future emperor) during the campaigns of 4/5. It was probably used as a military base during punitive raids. The civil settlement of Fectio was probably to the east of the fort. But excavation is not easy because there is a nineteenth-century military settlement on the site(Fort Vechten) However, the ancient fort itself is, together ... morewith Nijmegen, Vechten is one of the best excavated sites in the Netherlands; in 1894, it was the site of one of the first excavations of a Roman ship. In 40. The emperor Caligula visited Fectio when he was travelling to Lugdunum. The remains of a wine barrel from his personal vinyard have been found. Some thirty years later, the fortress was destroyed during the Batavian revolt and rebuilt as base of a cavalry squadron. The nearby Rhine had already started to silt up, and was later to change its course. Pottery from the kilns of the Tweny-second legion Primigenia at Xanten belongs to this period. During the reign of Antoninus Pius(138-161) the fort was again rebuilt. This time from brick and natural stone. Ancient Roman Pottery Bowl II-Earthenware-Roman Empire-100-200 AD!
ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS Artifacts. Antiques& Fine Collectables Ancient Roman Empire Pottery Earthenware Bowl II Roman Empire c. 100- 200 AD Original. Authentic, and Extremely RARE! This ancient Earthenware Bowl dates to the Roman Empire and is from my personal collection. It is a museum quality example of an ancient Roman terracotta bowl that would have been used in daily life or to hold offerings to the Gods or as ritual tomb object that would hold offerings to the Gods. This 100% original and authentic bowl dates to the Roman Empire circa 100-200 AD and was unearthened in Northern Italy. I purchased it in the late 1960s from a museum that had decommissioned it. This unglazed earthenware bowl measures approximately 3.0" in diameter x 2.5" tall(76 mm x 63 mm) and weighs just 3.2 oz. or 92 grams. The bowl has a footed base that ... morecan be best seen in photo# 6. This is a unique piece of ancient pottery that you can add to your collection. It is truely Museum quality and is Extremely RARE! It would also make a super Gift! Condition: This fired earthenware bowl is in excellent condition for its age. It is solid with no cracks or repairs. It does have one small chip on the side of the bowl that you can see best in photo# 3. It still has the original earthen deposits encrusted on its inside and outside-as would be expected for an item that was buried for 2.000 years. This natural process does not affect the solid integrity or beauty of the ancient bowl, in fact, they help to date this artifact as an authentic piece of fine pottery that is very, very old! I have examined this piece under 10x magnification and it shows no signs of modern tool marks-only human hands worked the clay to make this ancient bowl. I also examined it under Black Light and found no signs of modern repairs. This bowl has not been Oxford Thermoluminescenece(TL) tested to determine its exact age. As that testing cost over $1,200-several times the value of this bowl. But I assure you this ancient bowl is 100% authentic and original and will

Ancient Roman Herodian Christian Pottery Oil Lamp - 100 AD
An attractive ancient Roman oil lamp dating to the 1st century B.C. 1st century A.D. and likely originating from the Holy land. The lamp decorated beautifully with impressed open flower motif. The flickering light of the oil lamp has been man's only means of illuminating the darkness for millennia, long before gas-lamps and modern electricity. Length: 3 1/4 inches. Condition: Excellent. Minor chips and age related encrustation. As shown. Unrestored. Provenance: Ex Israeli private collection. Legally exported from Israel and probably found in the Holy land. Ancient Roman beautiful decorated pottery shards
Roman pottery shards found at Vechten(The Netherlands) Some information about Fectio(Vechten) Fectio. But excavation is not easy because there is a nineteenth-century military settlement on the site(Fort Vechten) However, the ancient fort itself is, together with Nijmegen, Vechten is one of the best excavated sites in the Netherlands; in 1894, it was the site of one of the ... morefirst excavations of a Roman ship. However, by 200, the river had become silted-up and Fectio was no longer accessible by water. The military settlement was destroyed in 275 and not reoccupied. See also my other items.
