And was made by Druce& Company of London. Measures 95.1" high, 67" wide, and 14.2" deep. Inspired by the designs of Boulle under Louis XIV, this ebonized mahogany cabinet features extensive ormolu bronze mounts and brass marquetry. Lower cabinet doors open to reveal two shelves with old red velvet and the Druce and Co. nameplate. The upper cabinet features glazed and curved glass side panels and glazed doors and two adjustable shelves. Overall condition is good. There is a crack with losses to the brass in the upper left section of the lower left door, and other minor cracks to the brasses. There is a narrow vertical crack on the left side of the cabinet, and a few missing mounts, including the reed-and-tie border to the upper window on the right side, and the glass is cracked in the upper panel as well. We have a glass conservator standing by the replace and install this section at our cost. This item is being sold as-is. 18th C French Provincial Enfilade c 1780 This is a stunning French enfilade made from English oak. The entire piece has 18th century craftsmanship with dovetailed joints and peg nails. A few interior areas have been re-inforced with screws. There are four cabinet doors and four deep drawers. The cabinet door on the far right has compartments that have been customized to hold flatware and serving pieces. The far two left doors have anterior section that is not divided so it can hold larger pieces. The hardware and key are original to the piece. The enfilade measures 21 1/4" deep x 38" high x 8 1/4 feet long(99 inches) The cabinet offers a tremendous amount of storage and I have used it in my home office for a very long time. I never intended to part with it but unfortunately I need more storage and I'm having built-in bookshelves ... moreinstalled. When I purchased the piece I was told that this was brought to the United States by a very wealthy family along the Main Line in Philadelphia. ITEM: Up for auction is this true early 18th century antique. All original without any restorations. Very dark rich wood, solid construction with dents, dings and scratches from age and usage. The bronze drawer pulls are the originals along with the original locks and door hinges. I recently came across the key and although the lock does not move much, I am sure with some oil it will be moving freely in no time. The top and back are put together with a type of tongue and grove type of construction with square peg nailing. Carved Fruitwood 1700's Antique Country French Provincial Sideboard or Buffet. This wonderful Country French or Provincial sideboard or buffet was hand hewn and carved in the mid to early 1700's. Solid wormy fruitwood and walnut are well worn and have a rich old finish with warm antique patina. Wrought brass hardware and lift off iron hinges appear original on this imposing rustic furniture from southern France. Three drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and chamfered bottoms. Behind the doors is a later shelf. There are remnants of old wallpaper lining. As is typical, feet were rebuilt many years ago on this historic cabinet. Every surface shows hand work and distinguished workmanship from centuries ago. Dimensions are 61" wide. 24" deep and 49" tall.
