As well as anyone looking for a piece with a well developed patina for a formal dining room. Crafted during the late 18th Century, this English Georgian Hepplewhite Serpentine Sideboard is a visual delight- though not suitable for serious collectors, due to it's light alterations and numerous replacements, it has been carefully preserved and restored over the years and is fully functional. The overall form is sweeping, the top conforming to the overall serpentine shape of the case; the middle section has sliding panel doors revealing a large and spacious storage space. The legs were designed to reduce the mass of the overall case, note ... morethe odd parallelogram shape to the legs that allow the leg to appear thin and sharp when looking straight on at the case. A sturdy and well crafted piece. This is a treasure you will certainly enjoy in your home for a lifetime. Due to the noted replacements, it is offered at a very good value. The carving is just magnificent. As you will notice there is some slight. Easily repairable damage(bad previous glue-job) to be re-glued and there are missing bottom tips of the torches and the snakes. As these missing parts don’t contain any decoration, it would be easy for half confident carver to replace them, thus make these fabulous torcheres whole and useful again.
