I am selling my antique silver plated bronze hookah. It is very well finished with ornate engravings and various adornments. The base of this antique ... morehookah is made from thick copper coins which a google image search indicated where made between 1740-1780 in what is today eastern India. It is almost complete and would only require minimal parts to be operational. There is a slight dent on the bottom from which there is a slight leak so this would need to be sealed prior to operation. A FINE OLD ANTIQUE FRENCH 18TH CENTURY VIOLIN OF THE CHAPPUY SCHOOL CIRCA 1790.
A fine antique french late 18th century violin of the Chappuy school made circa 1790. A rare and beautiful 18th century violin of the french school. Made circa 1790. The table is made of two parts of spruce, the fine grain widening to the edges. The back, ribs and head are unflamed. This violin is a fine piece of the french school, in the style of Augustin Chappuy. The varnish, of a deep brown colour on a golden ground, has a very nice patina. The head is gorgeous, and has been beautifully grafted on a new neck. The button of the neck has been reset with an ebony crown. The violin is in a good restored condition. With a few repaired cracks on table(without any soundpost one though) and a few minor cracks on ribs. The violin has been set-up in our workshop with a rosewood and bone tailpiece, a rosewood chinrest and endpin, and Thomastik Dominant ... morestrings. The rosewood pegs are probably 19th century, and in good condition. The sound of this fine french instrument is gorgeous. Deep and warm, very mature, easy to play and reactive, a gem of the 18th century french shool that you will not find often. L.O.B 359 mm. Insured shipping to US for $79. And to E.C for $50. Old Antique 18th Century Handmade Saxon Violin, Excellent Condition
An Exceptional Rustic 18th Century Saxon Violin Up for auction is a handmade. 18th Century Saxon violin, dating to around 1790. Guaranteed authentic. The top is made of lovely medium-grained spruce. With nicely worked‘f’ holes, inlaid purfling. The one-piece back is maple, a lovely chunk of wood which some unknown luthier decided would make a nice violin. The maple grafted scroll was purposely roughly worked to match the back. This is a solid. Quality instrument, fully lined and blocked, with an excellent selection of woods which results in a truly beautiful, rustic violin. After centuries of play. The resonance and harmonics leap out. It is a very quick, responsive, warm violin with a growling G string, smooth and resonant D and A strings, and a clear, ringing E string. It plays evenly across the strings all the way up the fingerboard, and ... moreis quite suitable for orchestral settings. It is a pure delight to play and treasure; a truly valuable violin. Another amazing aspect of this violin is its condition. Except for over two centuries’ worth of nicks and dings. The top and bottom are undamaged. As in no cracks. Zero. There is one well-repaired ½-inch rib crack adjacent to the end pin(see photo) and a chip repair and shim at the neck button(see photo) For what it’s worth. The violin carries a nice old label– fake, I imagine– of“Lorenzo Ventapane Fabbricante di Strumenti da Corde Abita Calata Borgo di Loreto No 23. It even has some extremely faint letters of a fake signature. The violin is full-sized. With slightly smaller dimensions in the manner of many of the old Italian makers: Total length 587mm(23-3/16) body length 355mm(13-15/16) upper bout 164mm(6-7/16) lower bout 200mm(7-7/8) Vibrating string length is set at 328mm(12-15/16) It has all ebony accessories: fingerboard. New nut, new Parisian eye pegs, tailpiece and end pin, and a Guarnieri chin rest. The new pegs turn and hold well. The strings are new Pirastro Tonicas. Payment by PayPal. The violin will be carefully packed and shipped. Rea

Antique Portable Writing Desk, 18th / 19th Century, Colonial, Civil War, Rustic
Antique Portable Writing Desk. 18th/ 19th Century, Colonial, Civil War, Rustic Here is a beautiful piece of history. From what I have found. This is most likely late 18th, early 19th century, but possibly Civil War era. These first started to appear in the last decades of the 18th Century. This particular Desk isn't as ornate as many of the writing desks that I have seen here on ebay. Or online. This one seems to have been made purely for it's practical purpose. It shows it's age. But is still in good solid shape. It does have a few stains though. But. I guess it could possibly be refinished. Here is a bit of the history and other examples of early Portable Writing Desks: Please examine pics. Zoom in, and ask any questions you may have before making an offer, bidding or buying. I'll do my best to answer. Although this is in ... moregood antique condition. It's still a few hundred years old and is being sold AS-IS. No returns will be accepted. By bidding on. Or buying this item you are agreeing to these terms. Will try to ship same day or within 24 hours of confirmed payment. Check out our feedback and shop with confidence!

Baroque furniture was in vogue during the late 17th Century. Italian baroque architects Gianlorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini had showcased their innovative designs in Rome. By this time, the baroque design was only on the surface of the furniture, but ... morelater towards the last quarter of the century, a lot of changes were introduced into the design. At this time, caryatids and the scroll patterns were introduced. Using the caryatid and scroll patterns in baroque designs means the use of female figures along with scroll-shaped and spiral-turned legs to support the structure of the furniture. By the end of the 17th Century, baroque architecture had been transformed to structures with curved fronts and was first used on wardrobes and chests of drawers. Chairs were designed with high back and rich carvings. Even the cane chairs had high backs with beautifully turned parts in place of the carved areas. These chairs were elegant and exquisite. Antique 18th or 19th Century Ornate Metal Figurines (Jester's) Clock Figurines?
These are a set of very. Very old 19th or possibly even 18th century ornate handcrafted solid bronze/spelter metal figurines. I have never seen anything quite like these pieces. And have done some research and can not find anything even close to these beautiful Jester pieces. Both pieces very ornate and well made figures. The detail on the figures are just phenominal, stunning! As you can see in the pictures there are two holes on backside of both pieces, leading me to believe that they were mounted on either side of a VERY OLD high-end mantle clock. But not 100% sure) These would make for fine figurine shelf pieces. Or to even mount to a mantle clock with great imagination. The dimensions of these figurines are 6 1/2 inches Height from top to bottom. Attached platforms are about 2 1/4in D. Both figurines are in good solid fine aged condition ... morewith no broken or cracked pieces. ITEM WILL BE INSURED AND SHIPPED PRIORITY.
MONGOLIAN ANTIQUE THANGKA SET-5-18th CENTURY!!!
SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA AND THE SIXTEEN ARHATS(Arhat Thematic Set. Mongolian 18 th Century. Gelugpa five thangka set) Size Each: 16.5 inches(42 cm) W X 28 inches(71 cm) Painting Size Each: 9.75 inches(25 cm) w X 15.25 inch es(39 cm) If you are interested. Let me know and I'll send you a complete zip file of all of the photos. The full group of arhats always has twenty-five figures: the Buddha Shakyamuni. Together with the two foremost disciples- Shariputra and Maudgalyayana, the sixteen Arhats, the attendant Dharmata, the patron Hvashang and the Four Guardians of the Directions; Vaishravana, Virupaksha, Dhritarashtra and Virudhaka. In all an extensive set of paintings would comprise twenty-three individual paintings. The two foremost disciples are always portrayed in the same painted composition with Buddha Shakyamuni. The Sixteen Arhats or ... moreArahants are'saints' or sages who have fully realized for themselves the Buddhist Doctrine. And have attained freedom from the cycle of suffering and rebirth. In some texts the Buddha is described as being accompanied by 50 arahants, sometimes by 500 or other multiples of this number(the figure is taken by some simply to mean a large crowd) Only 16 Arahants are actually worshipped, and these are perhaps symbolic of the four Arahants that tradition assigns to each of the four cardinal points(materialized as a region of India or of China and as a special'paradise' Thus. For example, the first of them, Pindola Bharadvaja, is said to reside with 1,000 of his disciples in Aparagodani, to the west; the second, Kanakavatsa, with 500 disciples, in Kashmir in the north; the tenth. Panthaka, with 1,300 disciples, in the Heaven of the 33 Gods. It appears that Pindola, the only one with Mahakasyapa who did not enter Nirvana, became the Arhats par excellence after the disappearance of Mahakasyapa. And that the others are merely replicas. These 16 Arhats. Distinguished by the Buddha, formed part of the 500 claimed by tradition to have attended the First Council in Rajagrha: th

ANTIQUE ENGLISH SILVER 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th Century -Clark Institute
An Exhibition of Silver of the 16th. 17th, 18th and 19th Centuries” Published in Williamstown by the Robert Sterling Clark Art Institute in 1951. DISCUSSION: The very first Clark Art Institute catalog. The exhibition was held at Lawrence Hall of Williams College. As the Introduction notes that the Institute has only recently bought land for the permanent museum building. In 1910. After a distinguished career in the United States Army, Sterling Clark settled in Paris and began collecting works of art, an interest he inherited from his parents. When he married Francine Clary in 1919, she joined him in what quickly became a shared passion. Together they created a remarkable collection of paintings, silver, sculpture, porcelain, drawings, and prints with complete reliance on their own judgments and tastes. In 1950 the Clarks founded the Sterling ... moreand Francine Clark Art Institute as a permanent home for their collection, and the museum first opened to the public in 1955. Since its conception, the Institute has had a dual mission as both a museum and a center for research and higher education. It is in this spirit that the Clark has expanded over the last five decades to become the influential institution it is today” from the Museum website) DESCRIPTION: Softcover. 6.5”x10” 9 pages of text plus 10 black& white plates. RARE ANTIQUE LATE 18TH CENTURY FRENCH VIOLA BY JOSEPH THIRIOT FOR RESTORATION
Fine and rare antique french master viola made by Joseph Thiriot in Mirecourt circa 1780/1790. Fine viola of the french late 18th century school made by Joseph Thiriot in Mirecourt. Proposed for restoration& set-up. The viola is a fresh find, and is a beautiful example of the fine Mirecourt productions at the time, the front made of straight and narrow grain, the back, ribs, neck and head made of faintly flamed maple. This instrument has not been played for decades(probably since late 19th century) and has still two of what could be its original hammer-shaped rosewood pegs, the two others being later 19th century ones, with the remains of gut strings from the last play. The varnish, of a delicate amber colour, is entirely original, as well as the neck and button which are in a great condition. The head is a late 18th century beauty, very ... morearistocratic, beautifully carved in the style of the Parisian school. The condition of the viola is really nice, the only issue of somewhat importance is a long woodworm work running on the table over the soundpost position which has been filled a long time ago, not going through though. This would benefit from an artistical restoration, to give the viola its former beauty. There are also a few very short woodworms works on lower ribs, and the lower left corner on table has been scratched. Otherwise, the viola is in a gorgeous original condition. Once properly restored and set-up, this gem will worth many thousands dollars. A restorer's dream! On the inside back can be found the original fire brand of the master. Thiriot A La Ville de Cremonne" and on the inside top just above soundpost is another"Thiriot" fire brand. Dimensions are: L.O.B: 378 mm. Upper bouts: 176 mm. Middle bouts: 119 mm. Lower bouts: 215 mm. The viola will be sent in a brand new rectangular case. Fully insured shipping to EC $50 and to US $90. Happy bidding!

Antique 18th Century Birmingham Brass Candlesticks
Birmingham Brass Candlesticks" By Jean M. Burks. Published by the University Press of Virginia: 1986. DISCUSSION: An outstanding addition to the published material on English brass. This book goes beyond stylistic chronologies to investigate the brass founders who worked in Birmingham and the patented devices they incorporated into their products. It includes short biographies of Birmingham brass founders and American instrument makers" Ames& Ward) Jean M. Burk's manuscript does an excellent job in discussing the fabrication of brass candlesticks and. More importantly, in discussing the fabrication of the various ejection devices developed with the two-part stem. The latter is material previously unpublished and is important in the connoisseurship of candlesticks of the period. The identification and working dates of sixty ... moreeighteenth-century Birmingham candlestick makers is especially helpful and, even more so, is the detailed information about the seven firms which marked their candlesticks, and the very thorough analysis of their marked examples" John Davis, dj blurb) DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 8.5"x11" 128 pages, 121 black& white illustrations, dust jacket. Antique 18th century silk fragment 1
F ragment of silk damask dating to the late 18th/early 19th century. Very old. And very fragile with splits and tears due to it s age. It looks as if it was used to upholster the arm of a chair at some point in the distant past as it h as some dark staining that woul d seem to suggest it was wrapped around a piece of wood. This is dark cream silk. With a woven flo ral/leaf design in the same colour as the background. Measures approximately 17" x 8" I have other pieces of antique silk listed and am always happy to combine postage. Antique 18th/19th century silk fragment 3
A curious fragment of antique silk dating to the late 18th/early 19th century. I t looks like a purse. But isn't. It has a heavily decorative front panel(pictured) with a light weight maroon silk backing. The layers have been sewn together around three edges and stiffened w ith what appears to be something like buckram. Suggesting that this might have once been part of a crenellated curtain pelmet. There is brown(cotton? tape hand stitched around the edge. It measures 9" wide at the longes t edge and 4" wide at the narr ower opening edge; it is 5" in height. If you know what this might have been. Please do get in touch to let me know. All measurements are approximate. I have other pieces of antique silk listed and am always happy to combine postage. Antique 18th/19th century curtain pelmet silk fragment 4
A fragment of heavyweight antique silk damask dating to the late 18th/early 19th century. Measuring 23.5" x 7" Possibly part of a curtain pelmet. I would guess for a canopy bed, but it may have been part of a window dressing. This is entirely hand stitched, with stitches and working clearly visible i n the fabric. The right side(pictured) has undergone some fading from ligh t exposu re. But the wrong side is still a lustrous. Rich midnight blue. A really beau tiful piece. And full o f interest for the serious collector of old fabrics. All measurements are approximate. I have other pieces of antique silk listed and am always happy to combine postage. Rolling up the lid reveals matching classical interior, with columns as a frame for open middle, flanked by three fully functional drawers on each side, one over the other. These are most stunning feet, carefully carved with a strong patina- note the legs are added to the piece and are not original. The front of the chair has a sharply turned stretcher, appearing to be later than the chair. This is a lovely very conversational ... morepiece. Early 18th Century William and Mary Jacobean Style Carolean Antique Side Chair
William and Mary Period Jacobean Style Side Chair Early 18th Century. England, Composed of Old Parts Description: This beautiful chair has a gorgeous golden glow to the wood throughout. It features a pierced crest with delicately carved scrolling designs. The crest is joined by two carefully turned pillars that run parallel on either side of the caned back. The pillars turn into the back legs. Which dowel into the frame of the chair before terminating plainly in two squared legs. The frame of the seat is plain undecorated oak, with a partially intact cane seat- the frame is not original to the chair and has been clearly rebuilt. The front legs are turned and shaped. The piece is framed with a turned H Stretcher, with a second turned stretcher running between the back to legs. The patina across the piece is light and even. Due to the rebuilt ... morenature of the chair. It is not a museum quality piece, but is a fine addition for anyone looking for a piece of the early 18th Century reworked for use today. Measurements: 47 3/4" high by 16 1/2" wide by 15 1/2" deep. From the ground to the seat measures 17" Condition: Refinished at one point. Seat is entirely rebuilt. Turnings appear to be later. Turned out of old wood- numerous pegs appear to be new as well. We assume this to be a rebuilt/composed piece, somewhat original but mostly an adjusted decorative piece. Cane is not original, and current caning has damage throughout. Inactive pest damage. Structurally in very fine condition. Repairs throughout. Pair of French Louis XVI Antique Painted Canape Settee Sofa, One 18th Century
Pair of French Provincial Louis XVI Antique Canapé Sofas Probably of Northern European origin One canapé of the period. Late 18th Century Second canapé is a nearly identical copy. Late 19th- early 20th Century Item# 130201HSL27 These are an absolute treasure. A rare find remarkably preserved and executed. They are a Pair of French Provincial Style Painted Antique Canape Sofas. One of the Period and crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century. The other a nearly perfect copy of the first, probably executed during the late 19th to early 20th Century. Any craftsman can attest to the sheer difficulty of what was undertaken in crafting a copy of the original canape, a complex and incredibly time consuming endeavor that was certainly a commissioned project with a skilled cabinetmaker. Without any of the original drawings ... moreor schematics, the craftsman would literally have to measure every carving, build special tracks to lathe the molding, find woods that would adequately support the later"patination" and carve all aspects entirely by hand. The construction is identical to the period canapé. Including the placement of pegs to complete the tenon-mortised joints along the apron and frame. The results of this care are self evident. A very handsome and rare pair of antique canapé sofas in simply gorgeous condition. Both have a fine blend of teal. Cream and grey painted surfaces, flowing smoothly with the cream and light green diamond upholstery. The down-stuffed cushions are thick and comfortable with wonderful dimensions for the seating area that are quite supportive. The crest and apron of both sofas feature a somewhat unusual twisted and flowing ribbon tied in bows, the knees above each leg a deep inset rosette carving of floral inspiration, the legs broadly fluted, tapering and square in profile with upright bellflower carvings. This is a pair of antique canapé sofas you will never see again. A rare find as a pair and in a condition that is above reproach. Entirely crafted
George III Antique Double Back Settee Hall Bench Loveseat Sofa 18th Century
Antique George III Chippendale Double Back Mahogany Settee England. Composed of 18th Century Elements during the 19th Century Item# 120012FPO13 This is an interesting decorative work. A selection for any interior designer or home owner looking to bring the nostalgia and charm only found in the patina and form from the 18th Century. It is a form known as a double-back settee. Crafted in the George III Chippendale style from elements of 18th Century pieces to bring that natural depth and warmth. The crest flows with a soft serpentine over pierced bell-bottom splats. Terminating at each corner in sharp pointed ears over inward curved stiles that flow directly into the slightly canted back feet. The slip seat is trapezoidal in shape, a geometrical stitched upholstery of period design covering the frame, flanked on either side by curving arms. ... moreThe entire design rests over three square front legs locked together with a box-form stretcher. This is purely a decorative work as a result of the adjustments. But truly is a wonderful decorative work. As a stunning bench for a large hallway, an antique settee between two windows of the bedroom or in the sunroom with a pair of Georgian chairs. There are few limits on the use of a piece like this in a fine home. A piece like this in unadjusted condition would be three to four times the price, as they are very difficult to acquire and quite popular in Colonial style homes, making this a fine and affordable acquisition. In strong and sturdy condition, being fully functional as a regular part of your decor, this is a piece you will enjoy actively for a lifetime. Measurements: 61" wide x 23" deep x 38 1/2" high to crest; 18" high to seat; 17 1/2" seat depth Condition Report: Visually Outstanding Condition Composed of 18th Century Elements- note the crest rail with it's multiple pegs. The added height above each splat and stile beneath the crest. Interior blocking and inside of seat has been rebuilt for strength and functionality- we have not examined ben

The back of the sofa is exposed, held in place with original iron braces that secure the back firmly in place. ... moreThis is a stunning petite settee with a rather remarkable level of strength despite it's age and delicate nature. Antique 18th Century English George II Mahogany Tall Chest of Drawers c. 1750
This listing is for an 18th Century English George II Tall Case Chest of Two over Four Drawers. Featuring original Queen Anne period brass hardware and all original locks, circa 1740-50. It is a beautiful piece with a simple form so successful commercially that it was copied in bedroom furniture for nearly 300 years, the same form being used in case pieces today. It is of outstanding craftsmanship being formed almost entirely of solid Cuban Mahogany, today a rare and restricted wood of incredible cost, known for it's dark and dense grain formations. A carved crown molding wraps around the front and sides. Repaired in numerous areas along, completing the smooth finished top of the case. The sides of the case are two boards that blind-dovetail at the top and through-dovetail at the bottom. The face of the case features two smaller drawers ... moreover four graduated larger drawers, each with full molded lips of the solid and fully original brass Queen Anne brass hardware, an original lock on every drawer(except the bottom) with many secured with original hand forged rose head nails and a few screws. Each drawer is hand dovetailed. Uniquely with graduating dovetails- the top two drawers have two dovetails, the next drawer down has three dovetails, the third down four dovetails, fourth with five dovetails and the bottom drawer with six. The top two drawers are divided by an upright bar with a half-dovetail joint penetrating the crossbar. Each drawer is divided with full dust board divisions, mahogany along the face, pine secondary woods making up the rest of the dust board. The dust board is primarily an English invention, found only infrequently on American case pieces, and conveniently protects clothing and items in drawers below from being dirtied by the drawer action. The back of the case is made up of one original board and the rest replaced. All re-secured with newer nails- a label inside on one of the replaced boards refers to a furniture depository in England. The case rests over four bracket feet, one rebuilt,

Antique 18th Century Birch Pegged Joint Stool Pub End Table Raw Pine Board Top
This late 1700s joint stool measures 22” tall x 15 ¾” x 12” overall with 10 ¾” x 16” replaced scrubbed pine top. The wood appears to be birch and there is nice shrinkage to the turnings and wear to the bottom of the feet. You will note pegs at all joints(suitably raised) and wear to the bottom rails. It was refinished many years ago using abrasion. Which resulted in the pattern of light and dark areas seen in the photos(dark areas are where the sander did not reach. While the surface is not historic, the overall effect is quite pleasant and the surface has a very friendly warm hand rubbed sheen. In the 19th century, the pine plank top was attached(with wrought nails) and it was upholstered many times, resulting in the edge wear, holes and stray tacks. The amount of use it received suggests it may have been in a Pub and there is ... morea branded inventory number on the bottom of one rail as well as the printed name“C B Walker” under a layer of dirt and grime. The glue blocks appear to date from the 19th century when the top was replaced. The owner removed several layers of old upholstering from the top to reveal the old pine board. It is scrubbed, but would blend with the base beautifully with a quick coat of dark wax. WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO SHIP WORLDWIDE IF ALLOWED BY USPS.
