YOU ARE BIDDING ON THE ITEM PICTURED! The founding of Rome goes back to the very early days of civilization. It is so old. It is today known as'the eternal city' The Romans believed that their city was founded in the year 753 BC. Modern historians though believe it was the year 625 BC. Early Rome was governed by kings, but after only seven of them had ruled, the Romans took power over their own city and ruled themselves. They then instead had a council known as the'senate' which ruled over them. From this point on one speaks of the'Roman Republic'The word'Republic' itself comes from the Latin(the language of the Romans) words'res publica' ... morewhich mean'public matters' or'matters of state' The senate under the kings had only been there to advise the king. Now the senate appointed a consul, who ruled Rome like a king, but only for one year. This was a wise idea, as like that, the consul ruled carefully and not as a tyrant, for he knew that otherwise he could be punished by the next consul, once his year was up.Rome knew four classes of people. This division was very important to the Romans. The lowest class were the slaves. They were owned by other people. They had no rights at all. The next class were the plebeians. They were free people. But they had little say at all. The second highest class were the equestrians(sometimes they are called the'knights' Their name means the'riders' as they were given a horse to ride if they were called to fight for Rome. To be an equestrian you had to be rich. The highest class were the nobles of Rome. They were called'patricians' All the real power in Rome lay with them. The Roman Republic was a very successful government. It lasted from 510 BC until 23 BC- almost 500 years. The Roman empire in the end was overrun by millions of barbaria

DETAIL: A bronze ring circa late second or third century A.D. Intact albeit moderately worn and with very light pebbling(porosity) to the surfaces of ... morethe metal. As you can see, the ring is very basic in design, though very bold, handsome, and elegant in design. The"bezel" or face of the ring is engraved with a Roman Legionary Eagle, wings folded, side profile, head to the right, the quintessential symbol of the Roman Legionary Army. However this is not what you might call a“classical depiction” of a Roman Legionary Eagle, which is usually head on or a three-quarters angle, with wings partly opened. This depiction is not even very fearsome, intimidating, or awe-inspiring at all. It seems a rather amateurish depiction, a simplification with little detail(not much more than an outline) perhaps done by someone not very familiar with what a Roman Legionary eagle was supposed to look like, as it looks rather more like a chicken than an eagle. But I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and even if the depiction does not strike fear into the heart of the beholder(but rather amusement) it is still a wonderful depiction, even if quite atypical. As you can see. The periphery of the bezel was engraved with a boundary accent line, suggesting that perhaps the ring might have been used as a sea

Ancient Roman Bronze Legionary Eagle Brooch/Fibulae 1st Century AD
About The Roman Jewelry Apart from gold and other precious metals. Romans used glass to make their jewelry. Roman jewelry gives us an insight into the culture of this ancient country. Just like other ancient civilizations. Rome also had its distinct strata of social classes. In the Roman society, jewelry was worn for indicating the social status of a person and attaching pieces of clothing rather than beautification. Gold was used by the artisans and jewelers for carving the adornments and jewelry as it was believed to be the metal of the Gods and supposed to have descended from the sun. Other than gold, the materials used in jewelry making were bronze, Roman glass, bone beads and precious gemstones which were excavated from far off places like Persia, Far East, Indus Valley, etc. Diamonds, emeralds and sapphires found their way from the ... moresilk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. About This Item This very impressive. Very rare piece of treasure portrays the Aquila, also known as an eagle in ancient Roman times. It is a solid bronze brooch/fibulae which bears a hole in the middle with the deepest carvings of its textured wings and tail. The pin at the back was lost in antiquity and only part of where it catches, remains. This treasure would have been worn with pride by a male legionary officer. An aquila. Or eagle, was the standard of a Roman legion. It was carried by a legionary known as an aquilifer, or eagle-bearer. One eagle was carried by each legion. The eagle was extremely important to the Roman military. Beyond merely being a symbol of a legion. A lost standard was considered an extremely grave occurrence, and the Roman military often went to great lengths to both protect a standard and to recover it if lost; for example, see the aftermath of the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, where the Romans spent decades attempting to recover the lost standard

Ancient Roman Military Stamped Legionary Brick of First Italian Legion - 100 AD
A very rare. Ancient Roman Terracotta brick, impressed with the mark of the First Italian Legion and dating to approximately 100 A.D. The last and best example from a major collection. CV Roman Bronze Ring SUPER LEGIONARY SOLDIERS BATTLE SHIELD ~ size 11 1/2
ROMAN BRONZE RING Perfectly Decorated Legionary Shield Size 11 1/2 Average Opening = 21.06mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This ring has an SUPERB design! This fine ring was found at a Roman encampment site in Ancient Moesia and dates from between 100 and 300 AD This ring features the Roman Legionary Shield design. There is a shield design in the center of the bezel that is less common. Where the more common rings have a diamond surrounded by sets of lines in a diamond shape or a chevron. This example has vertical panels with alternating, filled-in, zig-zag ... morepatterns of triangles and diamonds that were carved in such a way that they REALLY jump out at you. The design on this ring is in TIP TOP condition. The design is crisp and clear and very well done. The shoulders of this ring are wide and MIRROR smooth as you can tell by the reflections in the second picture of the ring. You can see the nice shoulder decorations which are a little more fancy than we usually see. This is an AMAZING Legionary Artifact. Ancient Rome may have passed into history. But at least we have these artifacts to remind us of Rome's legendary might. It was common practice for Roman soldiers to wear rings that resembled the devices on their shields. There is a little extra wear here and there which adds to the charm of this STUNNING ring. This ring was also cast from an odd. Silvery b bronze alloy as you can tell from my pictures. In some lights it looks like silver but you can also see some golden highlights bounce off it as you move it in the sunlight. This ring has an uncommon design that makes this ring a rare treat indeed. ATTENTION* A few of you have asked me to give you a"heads up" on when a good"everyday" ring comes up. Well.he
CV Roman Bronze Ring LEGIONARY SOLDIERS SWORD STAR-CROSS
ROMAN BRONZE RING Golden Star Sword-Cross Design Size 8 1/2+ Average Opening = 18.60mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. SUPER STAR! That's what this 2000 year old Roman Ring is.SUPER! This ring was found at a Roman site in Ancient Moesia and dates from the 1st Century A.D. This ring features a 14mm x 14mm rounded-octagon bezel. The bezel has a nicely carved"Star-Cross" on it. The Star-Cross was a very early spiritual symbol and in later years was worked into and adopted by the Christians of Rome as their symbol. The designs carving is well done ... moreas you can see in my pictures. This"star-cross" has an added bonus. That the cross at the center is formed of 4 engraved"swords" These more detailed crosses are HIGHLY desirable and this is one of the best examples that I have seen in quite some time. This bezel sits above a nice solid band that is VERY wide for its size. The band measures just about 5.5mm wide along its whole length. The band's finish is mirror smooth as you can tell from my picture above. It was quite common for Roman soldier's to build up quite a little cache of"liberated" jewelry which they would use as a form of currency for their favorite activities. Gambling, women, food and drink. This ring has all the hallmarks of a True Collector's masterpiece! Do NOT miss your chance to own this FINE Roman ring Above and below are two more views of this FINE piece of Ancient History. Above is a picture that shows you the AMAZING shine on the rings that I am offering tonight. TRANSLATE Arabic Chinese French German Greek Indonesian Italian Hindi Japanese Korean Swedish Portuguese Russian Spanish Antique 19th Century Genuine Natural Two Carat(Plus) Hand Crafted/Polished Indian Tiger’s Eye Semi-Precious Gemstone Oval. Contemporary High Quality Sterling Silver Ring(Size 7– Resizing Available) CLASSIFICATION: Polished Indian Tiger’s Eye Polished Cabochon. ORIGIN: 19th century India. SIZE: Length: 10mm. Width: 8mm. Depth(Thickness) 2 1/2mm. Measurements approximate. WEIGHT: 2.11 carats. NOTES: Resizing is available. 14kt solid gold setting is also available. DETAIL: Healing stone of the ancient Egyptians and Greeks. Roman Legionary Soldiers carried tiger’s-eye, often with the forms of lions and hawks carved into the gemstone, believing that it gave them an advantage over their opponents in combat, inspiring courage ... moreand providing protection as well. Tiger’s-eye was worn as a talisman in the Near East as protection against the“evil eye” There was an ancient belief that some evil sorcerers or witches had the ability to transmit evil with just a glance. Certain items of personal adornment(amulets, talismans, etc. were thought to protect the wearer from the"evil eye" by the proviso of an always watchful open eye and tiger’s eye was just that, an always open and watchful“eye” The Assyrians(neighbors to the Babylonians) also carved the tiger's eye into cylinders which were covered with depictions of mythic creatures and names of gods, and the cylinders were then worn about the neck as charms for protection. In nearby ancient Egypt, many Egyptian statues of their various gods were fashioned complete with eyes made from tiger's eye. Here’s a nice quality 19th century antique hand crafted/shaped/polished“Tiger’s Eye” semi-precious gemstone from India. This is an exceptionally nice. High quality specimen, with nicely defined and quite sharp“chatoyancy” eye) Though the feline“eye” is difficult to capture here with a camera(the gemstone simply does not respond well to a flash) i

The dainty ring consisting of a small but solid band ending in decorated shoulders and a transversely oval bezel with the engraved number of Legion VI. Legio sexta Victrix(Sixth Victorious Legion) was a Roman legion founded by Octavian in 41 BC. It was the twin legion of VI Ferrata and perhaps held veterans of that legion. And some soldiers kept to the traditions of the Caesarian legion. The legion saw its first action in Perusia in 41 BC. It also served against the Sextus Pompeius. Who occupied Sicily and made threats to discontinue sending grain to Rome. In 31 BC the legion fought in the Battle of Actium against Mark Antony. Roman Bronze Legionary Key XI
Roman Bronze Legionary Key XI measures: 75 mm/ 30 mm weight: 32 gm The Roman Empire was the post-Republican period of the ancient Roman civilization. Characterised by an autocratic form of government and large territorial holdings in Europe and around the Mediterranean. The term is used to describe the Roman state during and after the time of the first emperor, Augustus. The 500-year-old Roman Republic, which preceded it, had been weakened and subverted through several civil wars. Several events are commonly proposed to mark the transition from Republic to Empire, including Julius Caesar's appointment as perpetual dictator(44 BC) the Battle of Actium(2 September 31 BC) and the Roman Senate's granting to Octavian the honorific Augustus(4 January 27 BC) Roman expansion began in the days of the Republic, but the empire reached its greatest ... moreextent under Emperor Trajan: during his reign the Roman Empire controlled approximately 6.5 million km2 of land surface. Because of the Empire's vast extent and long endurance, the institutions and culture of Rome had a profound and lasting influence on the development of language, religion, architecture, philosophy, law, and forms of government in the territory it governed, particularly Europe, and by means of European expansionism throughout the modern world. In the late 3rd century AD, Diocletian established the practice of dividing authority between four co-emperors, in order to better secure the vast territory, putting an end to the Crisis of the Third Century. During the following decades the empire was often divided along an East/West axis. After the death of Theodosius I in 395 it was divided for the last time.8] The Western Roman Empire collapsed in 476 as Romulus Augustus was forced to abdicate by Odoacer. The Eastern Roman or Byzantine Empire ended in 1453 with the death of Constantine XI and the capture of Constantinople by the Ottoman Turks led by Mehmed II. Inland diameter- 18mm WEIGHT- 4.53 grams About This Ring This highly impressive and boldly handsome ancient Roman bronze ring is indeed a very rare find to say the least! It is incredibly large and weighty. And boasts a smooth textured surface all around. Its band starts off thick and expands even more at the shoulders, where a series of alternating decorative linear carvings are made. Right before the bezel, the perimeter of its base is decorated with a series of fine linear etchings. Its bezel is very thick, large and rounded and bears the symbol“X” which is carved deeply into the surface. ... moreThis symbol represents the Roman numeral 10, which is symbolic of the Legio X Equestris(Roman Tenth Legion) Across the middle of the bezel and through the‘X’ symbol, a row of deep linear etched filled carvings is made; bordered by parallel lines on each side, giving this bezel’s surface a shield-like impression. A rich layer of dark-natural patina is retained all over this ring, revealing its original bright golden hued bronze which may be enhanced if cleaned further. Legio X Equestris. The Tenth was the first legion levied personally by Caesar, and was consistently his most trusted. The name Equestris was applied after Caesar mounted legionaries from the Tenth on horses as ruse to parley with the German King Ariovistus in 58 BC. Legio X was famous in its day and throughout history, because of its portrayal in Caesar's Commentaries and the prominent role the Tenth played in his Gallic campaigns. CV Roman Bronze Ring AMAZING LEGIONARY EAGLE INTAGLIO SEAL RING
ROMAN BRONZE RING IMMACULATE BRONZE INTAGLIO SEAL RING GOLDEN LEGIONARY EAGLE Size 9 1/2 Average Opening = 19.41mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. SCREAMING EAGLE This ring was found at a Roman encampment site in Ancient Thrace and dates from 200- 400 AD This is one of the most highly sought after ring designs by collectors of Roman Antiquities. These rings were ONLY worn by soldiers in Rome's Legions. Get your piece of Legionary history by bidding high and bidding early. Or better yet, use the"Buy It Now" option to make sure you win this beauty. ... moreThese ring are getting EXTREMELY hard to find. I have many long time customers and I hope one of them sees this BEAUTY and snaps it up. The details and the SHINE of the superior alloy it was cast from makes it one of the best rings that I have EVER restored. The alloy has a special color to it and polishes up so nicely that I believe that it was cast from the same alloy that was used for the breastplates of Roman Centurions. This ring features an oval. Flat bezel. The bezel measures 13mm X 10mm The center of the bezel has a nicely engraved LEGIONARY EAGLE. Now the actual Eagle design is one of the best that I have ever received to work on. Most of these rings have an engraved outline or picture of an Eagle but this example is an intaglio carved into the surface of the bezel to be used as a seal ring in wax to seal letters. We also can tell that it was made as a seal because if you look at the ring the eagle is facing in the opposite direction that most are shown. However. When used as a seal the design comes out the correct way. You can still see the minute details like the veining of the feathers and the features of the eagles face. As you see in my pictures. There is only
