Antique Roman Green Glass Bottle 4"
This is a lovely 4" tall Roman glass bottle. Probably from 2 BCE. It has a lot of iridescence and a lot of sand from its burial ground. It is a lovely shade of medium green. The condition is excellent- no chips. Cracks or repairs. I guarantee everything written about the piece. I will combine shipping when possible. Please let me send an invoice so I may bill the correct shipping costs. The Ebay invoice may be incorrect. The shipping cost reflects the additional 9% Ebay final value fee recently imposed. I take great care in packing my items and insure all my shipments. I keep my handling costs as reasonable as possible and include cost of materials and insurance in those costs. Please Note: I will leave feedback promptly when payment is received. I lost my top rating when I sold fewer items not because of any selling problems. I want ... moremy Ebay clients to realize the importance of feedback to sellers. A 4 sounds good to the buyer. But it is not good enough for a seller to maintain power selling status, for which they need 4.6 DSR. Sellers must have 4.3 to maintain selling privileges. So, even though the seller may not be perfect, leaving less than a 5 DSR will have a negative impact. If you are unhappy, please email your problem to me and see if we can work it out. Some Plebeians were awarded the right to wear the golden rings for their bravery or special service to the state. But gradually such stringent rules were relaxed during the reign of Justinian I. Women of ancient Rome were more inclined to wear multiple rings of varied materials and designs on their hands without the constraints of social classes. About This Ring One of the most unique inclusions to our collection. This very solid and weighty bronze Roman ring bears an incredibly thick hoop which narrows as it reaches its bezel. Its rounded cup-type bezel is tall and large, and it holds within itself the most beautiful green glass inlay. This glass inla

Ancient Roman Silver Alloy Ring with Dark Green Glass Inlay Very Large 100-300AD
Ancient Roman Silver Alloy Ring with Dark Green Glass Inlay Very Large 100-300AD Apart from gold and other precious metals. Romans used glass to make their jewelry. Roman jewelry gives us an insight into the culture of this ancient country. Just like other ancient civilizations. Rome also had its distinct strata of social classes. In the Roman society, jewelry was worn for indicating the social status of a person and attaching pieces of clothing rather than beautification. Gold was used by the artisans and jewelers for carving the adornments and jewelry as it was believed to be the metal of the Gods and supposed to have descended from the sun. Other than gold, the materials used in jewelry making were bronze, Roman glass, bone beads and precious gemstones which were excavated from far off places like Persia, Far East, Indus Valley, etc. Diamonds, ... moreemeralds and sapphires found their way from the silk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. This very impressive ancient Roman silver alloy ring bears a broad. Symmetrically formed and smooth all over hoop, which makes for a very comfortable fit when worn today. The band opens up into two parts at the shoulders, and soldered firm to the back of its bezel. As additional reinforcement, the ancient craftsman has added a flat, arrow-tipped piece of silver alloy strip, attaching the side of the bezel to the shoulders of the hoop. Its square shaped, shield-type bezel is turned in slightly at the uppermost tip, forming a secure frame for its captivating dark green glass inlay. The Romans greatly favoured the use of stone and glass in their jewellery. This very fascinating inclusion comes from the Imperial Roman era and has survived the test of time fully intact and as strong and captivating as it was when it was first made for its ancient patron. The blue and green molten glass would have been poured into its cup-type bezels by the ancient craftsman. And waited to cool and settle as rounded inlays. The alluring blue and green hues of glass were used to imitate the rawness and exquisite appeal of precious turquoise and emerald gemstones. In ancient Roman times. Turquoise was worn as amulets in protection from harm and unnatural death, while emeralds were worn as they were believed to have stood for fertility and rebirth. Ancient Roman Olive Green Ribbed Glass Flask - 300 AD
A beautiful ancient Roman green glass flask. Dating to the 4th century AD. Free blown. Composed of a beautiful olive green glass, the body in the shape of a ripe fruit hanging from a tree. The neck flaring, the small base slightly concave and with a prominent pontil mark(scar left behind from the ancient production process) The body is decorated with a series of carefully crafted shallow ribs which would have been tool worked whilst the glass was still soft. The style is highly suggestive of an origin within the eastern confines of the empire, likely the Levant. Many examples of this type can be termed somewhat crude. With little care taken or skill implied as to the overall form. That is not the case with this piece; it is the product of an ancient craftsman at the height of his craft and everything about this beautiful little flask is carefully ... morebalanced. Simply a magnificent piece of ancient glass. For a similar example currently with the Corning Museum. Please see: Whitehouse. D. 2001. Roman Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass: Volume One. Pg. 178. New York: Corning Museum. Height: 3 ⅞ inches. Condition: Excellent. Unrestored. A very tiny crack to one side of the body is only noticeable on close inspection. Otherwise free of cracks. Provenance: Formerly in the collection of the French painter. Sculptor, film producer and writer Daniel Lander(1927– 2013) Mr. Lander. A close friend of the noted artist Jean Cocteau, was an eclectic collector of ancient art.
