Though very simple, primitive Roman bronze bracelet constructed of stock which leans toward square, circa first century AD. It would fit a woman of very slight build, and with that caveat, is completely and eminently wearable. The bracelet was recovered unbroken and intact. As is ordinarily the case, the artifact exhibits moderately heavy porosity(surface pitting caused by burial in earth) Unlike so many smaller bronze artifacts which are completely disfigured by corrosion, this particular piece happened to come to rest in reasonably gentle soil conditions. The consequence is that though you can see clear evidence that this bracelet spent millennia buried beneath the ground, nonetheless to casual examination it is quite pleasant, with the rich, warm glow of ancient bronze. Of course in these photo enlargements. Or to close scrutiny, these blemishes are quite distinct. The entire bracelet bears witness to the fact that it spent

Medieval bracelet ? Roman Antique?
This piece of"jewellery" was dug up many years ago. I've just re found it whilst clearing my Grans loft. It looks like a section of a bracelet made of a gold coloured metal and possibly onyx. I've tried to work out what the picture is of but can't fathom it out. It seems a shame to throw it out so if its of interest place a bid.it's about an inch long and 1/2 inch wide Posted with 5=2.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fvo%7B2d71f%2B%3E5%3D2-13de2074339-0xff-

Ancient Roman and Byzantine Ring Bezels and bracelet Lot (x7) 100 BC - 800 AD
About The Roman Jewelry Apart from gold and other precious metals. Romans used glass to make their jewelry. Roman jewelry gives us an insight into the culture of this ancient country. Just like other ancient civilizations. Rome also had its distinct strata of social classes. In the Roman society, jewelry was worn for indicating the social status of a person and attaching pieces of clothing rather than beautification. Gold was used by the artisans and jewelers for carving the adornments and jewelry as it was believed to be the metal of the Gods and supposed to have descended from the sun. Other than gold, the materials used in jewelry making were bronze, Roman glass, bone beads and precious gemstones which were excavated from far off places like Persia, Far East, Indus Valley, etc. Diamonds, emeralds and sapphires found their way from the ... moresilk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. About The Byzantine Jewelry Byzantine jewelry was a full continuation of the Roman traditions which were kept alive behind the high walls of the new capital. Constantinople. The Roman techniques and styles continued to form the foundation of Byzantine goldsmith's skills who weren't complete copycats; some innovations such as the use of Christian iconography and further specialization of new and old techniques occurred. Production in the old jewelry centers of Alexandria and Antioch gave way to an increased production in Constantinople. Byzantine jewelry had a huge influence on the manufacturing of personal decoration in the rest of the medieval world. The Carolingian(early 742 AD) and the later Ottonian courts(start 962 AD) were linked to the Byzantine Empire and adopted their fashion resulting in the northern European Romanesque jewelry style. In the Byzantine Empire jewelry played an important role. It acted as a way to express ones status and as a diplomatic tool. In 529 AD. Emperor Justinian took up laws regulating the wearing and usage of jewelry in a new set of laws, later to be called

Roman Bronze Voting Stick and Bracelet Set
Roman Bronze Voting Stick and Bracelet Set measures: 131 mm/ 44 mm dia bracelet: 64 mm weight: 43 gm The Roman Empire was the post-Republican period of the ancient Roman civilization. Characterised by an autocratic form of government and large territorial holdings in Europe and around the Mediterranean. The term is used to describe the Roman state during and after the time of the first emperor, Augustus. The 500-year-old Roman Republic, which preceded it, had been weakened and subverted through several civil wars. Several events are commonly proposed to mark the transition from Republic to Empire, including Julius Caesar's appointment as perpetual dictator(44 BC) the Battle of Actium(2 September 31 BC) and the Roman Senate's granting to Octavian the honorific Augustus(4 January 27 BC) Roman expansion began in the days of the Republic, ... morebut the empire reached its greatest extent under Emperor Trajan: during his reign the Roman Empire controlled approximately 6.5 million km2 of land surface. Because of the Empire's vast extent and long endurance, the institutions and culture of Rome had a profound and lasting influence on the development of language, religion, architecture, philosophy, law, and forms of government in the territory it governed, particularly Europe, and by means of European expansionism throughout the modern world. In the late 3rd century AD, Diocletian established the practice of dividing authority between four co-emperors, in order to better secure the vast territory, putting an end to the Crisis of the Third Century. During the following decades the empire was often divided along an East/West axis. After the death of Theodosius I in 395 it was divided for the last time.8] The Western Roman Empire collapsed in 476 as Romulus Augustus was forced to abdicate by Odoacer. The Eastern Roman or Byzantine Empire ended in 1453 with the death of Constantine XI and the capture of Constantinople by the Ottoman Turks led by Mehmed II. Mankind learned to shape and mold glass into works of delicate beauty. It is today known as'the eternal city' The Romans believed that their city was founded in the year 753 BC. Modern historians though believe it was the year 625 BC. Early Rome was governed by kings, but after only seven of them had ruled, the Romans took power over their own city and ruled themselves. They then instead had a council known as the'senate' which ruled over them. From this point on one speaks of the'Roman Republic'The word'Republic' itself comes from the Latin(the ... morelanguage of the Romans) words'res publica' which mean'public matters' or'matters of state' The senate under the kings had only been there to advise the king. Now the senate appointed a consul, who ruled Rome like a king, but only for one year. This was a wise idea, as like that, the consul ruled carefully and not as a tyrant, for he knew that otherwise he could be punished by the next consul, once his year was up.Rome knew four classes of people. This division was very important to the Romans. The lowest class were the slaves. They were owned by other people. They had no rights at all. The next class were the plebeians. They were free people. But they had little say at all. The second highest class were the equestrians(sometimes they are called the'knights' Their name means the'riders' as they were given a horse to ride if they were called to fight for Rome. To be an equestrian you had to be rich. The highest class were the nobles of Rome. They were called'patricians' All the real power in Rome lay with them. The Roman Republic was a very successful government. It lasted from 510 BC until 23 BC- almost 500 years. The Roman empire

GENUINE ROMAN BRONZE CHILDS BRACELET
THIS IS A FANTASTIC BRONZE ROMAN BRACELET.PROBABLY MADE FOR A CHILD BECAUSE OF ITS SMALL SIZE.IT IS STILL IN GOOD WEARABLE CONDITION.I HAVE REMOVED THE GREEN PATINA TO REVEAL ITS GOLDEN COLOUR WHICH IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WHEN FIRST MADE ALMOST TWO THOUSAND YEARS AGO AND I HAVE TAKEN THE TWISTS OUT AND PUT IT BACK TO THE SHAPE IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE.THE DIAMATER OF THE BRACELET AT ITS WIDEST POINT IS-47MM BUT IT COULD POSSIBLY BE OPENED OUT, OR CLOSED IN A LITTLE BIT TO MAKE IT BIGGER OR SMALLER.THE WIDTH OF THE METAL AT ITS WIDEST POINT IS-9MM.THERE IS A SMALL INDENTATION IN THE BRACELET WHICH CAN BE SEEN IN THE PHOTO BUT APART FROM THAT IT IS STILL IN GREAT CONDITION FOR ITS AGE.THE BRACELET IS A BIT LIGHTER IN COLOUR THAN THE PHOTO SHOWS. Roman Bronze Bracelet and Bronze Key Set
Roman Bronze Bracelet and Bronze Key Set weight: 35 grams dia bracelet: 58 mm measures: 110 mm/ 27 mm The history of the Roman world is an epic story which stretches out over the course of more than two millennia- the story of an small group of villages which went on to dominate a major part of the western world and was to substantially define its culture. It is obviously impossible to summarize the entire history within a few lines. However. Most chronologies distinguish between the following phases: Origins and Roman Monarchy(753- 509 B.C. A somewhat less familiar period, at the end of which Roman territory was only one small area, Latium, which remained threatened on all sides by Italic and Etruscan peoples. The Roman Republic(509- 27 B.C. paved the way for the institutions. Administration and organizational structures that were to sustain ... morethe force of Rome. By 264 B.C. Rome controlled the entire Italian peninsula. Its ambition would then be to dominate the Mediterranean. Following the destruction of Carthage in 146, this was achieved for the western part. Macedonia, allied with Carthage, was then defeated, and Greece was“liberated” from the Macedonians in 194. Rome occupied what is today the Turkish coastline. Julius Caesar was at the origin of the change which, within a few years(49-29 B.C. would change the Roman institutions into an empire which covered almost the whole of the Mediterranean shores, plus Gaul and present day Spain. The Roman Empire(27 B.C. 476 A.D. increased the grasp of Rome on the Western world even more so. However signs of crisis increase from 250 A.D. onwards. With the rise of new peoples who threaten the borders of the Roman empire. Within the empire, Christianity progresses and the Emperor Constantine converts to it in 324. In 395, Theodosius shares the empire between his two sons. The Western Empire fell in 476, whereas the Byzantine Empire remained, with many trials and tribulations until 1453. However things are not that simple. The rise of Rome and the fall of t
