About us. We've taken on the daunting task of selling a collection of items that we inherited from a great friend of ours. After collecting antiques from a young age. She started to sell items for a few years on eBay(juliesbasement) before being taken ill, and sadly passed away early in 2010. She has a wonderful collection of antiques and memorabilia, and we're hoping to carry on her tradition of selling to like-minded antique lovers. PLEASE NOTE: Shipping cost shown is for USA only. Please contact us and we'll work out the best rate for your location. As eBay seems to always show the completely wrong shipping cost. We will also ship internationally. Please also ask any questions about items before bidding. Many thanks and Happy Bidding!

Old Vintage Glass Door Knobs This is a set of 2- or 4 doorknobs together. They're in good. Vintage condition. They are both on their"stems" ... moreOne set has the door plates attatched. They are both glass. But in different patterns. The first is smooth round glass. With an inside pattern. One doorknob has silver colored hardware and a little locking lever, and the other has brass colored hardware. This is a pretty design and in good shape. The second set is in a 12 point star type of pattern. These don't have the door plates. Just the"stem" These have some paint on them- a little on the glass, but mostly on the hardware. These pieces are about 5" long. And each doorknob is about 2" in diameter. There are no chips or cracks in the glass. shipping from me in canada to the usa is $14.90. Canadians please use the shipping calc. I only charge the actual postage based on weight. I sincerely apologize for the shipping cost. But Canada post has recently raised their rates, and this is the lowest possible rate they offer. Thanks for your interest! Powered by

Soldiers would bury their coins and jewelry before going into battle, and many of them did not return. They were also buried to avoid tax collectors and thieves. In ancient times, a ring distinguished an individual in a way that other forms of jewelry did not. Finger rings represented the language of social code, and connoted one’s social standing. Under the Empire, the finger ring was still considered a privilege, conferred for military distinction. As time wore on and attitudes changed, the ring was more freely bestowed. Even so, ... morethe ring retained its position as a mark of dignity, as a rich ornament, as an important seal, and as a token of betrothal. Special caskets were created for holding rings, and it was customary to remove a ring from the casket, to place on the finger of a visiting guest welcomed into one's home. 18th century ring byzantine green glass with hanging pearl. 925 silver & Bronze
This is without a doubt the most unusual ring I've ever laid eyes on. Another purchase at a European auction. One side of the ring has a 925 stamp. Quite hard to read. The other side appears to be made of bronze. There is a green glass stone on the bronze side and white glass with a pearl on the silver side. It is just so fascinating. It weighs 9.3 grams and is a size 5.25 although with the open setting it could be altered. While I'm not sure of it's actual age. It shows great patina and filigree work on either side of the ring.
