Dates to 1st/2nd Century AD Originally had a short iron scribing tip which broke away in antiquity probably whilst being used as a small section of silver broke off with it. The complete length of the silver is still there and measures 71mm. The short iron tip would have only added another 5 to 10mm and would not have survived because it was ferrous metal but still retains traces of the tip. Roman bronze lamp with mask handle 1st– 2nd century AD. L. 15.1 cm(6 in. H. 9 cm(3 ½ in. Perfect condition- without any restoration. Fine green and reddish brown patina. The lamp with pear-shaped body. Flaring nozzle with broad rounded tip, on a ring base with concentric circles. The body surrounded by a flat rim band with a ridge. With an ivy leaf-shaped hole at its center, with an incised coiled stem. An arched handle attached to the back of the body. Terminating with a theatrical mask, facing toward the nozzle. The mask wears a large cap, under which protrude a row of stylized curls and double screw-locks falling down on each side. Description: A small lot consisting of a Roman knife blade and Roman coins. 1) 1st-2nd century AD Roman Bronze knife blade. Measures 5.5 inches in length and covered in a nice greenish patina. It roughly dates from the time of Jesus and is about 2.000 years old. Very nice piece to have in a collection of Roman weapons or Jesus-era artifacts. 2) 8 Roman coins probably dating between the 1st-3rd centuries CE. They all contain some details(as you can see from the scans) Some are still covered in their original patina and are all attributable. They are uncleaned coins. All items guaranteed authentic! A very rare. Huge, genuine Roman bronze military/cavalry phalera decoration. This is the first phalera of this size that we have acquired that is complete and unbroken, as you can see from picture 2 all the lugs/loops are still intact on the reverse. Far too rare an artefact to polish to its original lustre, we have cleaned away debris revealing a glossy patina and the remains of some silvering.
