Great Vintage Industrial FARIES MFG. CO. Articulating Adjustable Arm Lamp
For your consideration is this great old industrial lamp. It is signed Faries Mfg. Co. Decatur Ill. Patent Date May 10. 98(1898) It is an adjustable arm lamp with adjustment at the base and at the end of the socket. Both of the adjustment mechanisms hold securely. In neutral position the lamp stands 17" tall, the top arm to end of shade measures 8" base to top of arm measures 15 1/2" tall straight up. This lamp has wonderful natural old patina on the brass. The wiring is old, could be original, is stained a bit, but works well and does not look damaged. There is a shallow crease in the shade about an inch long and a few very small dents. The base has a few dents in the brass as pictured. The shade is missing one of the tabs that hold it on the socket. It is on the bottom so it does not really show and the shade still holds ... morefirmly to the socket. Up for auction is a rare Canedy Otto MFG Co. antique pedistal grinder. Its made in Chicago Heights Ill. This is a old belt driven grinder. It's in nice condtion for its age. Spins freely and does have a belt. One of the grinding wheels has some damage. And you would have to replace them if one was to use it. The tool rests show someone has repaired them at one time and are stuck in the down position.If you have any?s please ask before bidding, I will try to answer as best as I can. Vintage Copper Conservo by Swartzbaugh MFG Co, circa 1907
Up for auction is a very unique"Barber Shop" type steamer/ cleaner that has been in my collection for the last twenty years. This is a Copper Conservo Steamer/ Canner by the Swartzbaugh Mfg Co. Circa 1907. The unit has two doors and"would have" four metal racks inside to allow steam to reach most small items placed inside. This unit was usually placed on the back of a wood burning stove top and could have been used for steaming, warming, canning or oven cooking. This unit has a copper bottom base that is to be filled with water. There is a pipe vent in the back that goes from the bottom to the top to let steam escape. This unit measures approx 20" high and is 12" wide with wooden handle grips over metal handles on each side. This particular unit has a Copper Razor Sign on top which would indicate that razors ... moreor other barber items would be cleaned between customers having a shave or haircut. I do not know if this particular unit was actually used in a barber shop in the early 1900's or that the sign was made as a cosmetic identification for someone's Barber Shop Collection years later. The shelves inside this steamer are glass shelves but originally they were metal racks to allow items to be steamed or cleaned. This will make a great nostalgic piece in your barber shop collection. The unit is original from the early 1900's and is in great condition. However, I do not know if the sign is vintage or was custom made to create the idea that this was used for a barber shop. It is definately unique and has looked great with my other barber shop collectibles and will make a wonderful addition to your collection.
