AN EXCESSIVELY RARE GENUINE VIKING Æ WOLF-CROSS AMULET - circa 10th century AD
An excessively rare genuine Vikingr bronze wolf-cross amulet/pendant. This type of artefact is thought to be an example of religious syncretism. The blending or incorporation of two or more religious beliefs from unrelated traditions, as is argued about the famous wolf-cross/hammer found in Foss Iceland, and is on display in the museum of Iceland. The cross is thought to represent both Thors hammer(Mjolnir) and the christian cross, the bottom of the amulet is zoomorphic and shows the upper part of a wolfs head, the lower part of the wolfs head has been worn away over time. The artefact is a far too rare a piece to clean, we have carefully removed the debris that was attached and lightly cleaned the piece, revealing a desirable glossy patina. It was found, along with other Vikingr artefacts in Latvia. As mentioned above. This is an extremely ... morerare piece, and may be your only chance to acquire such an artefact. Shipping will be free for this item, the artefact will be carefully packaged and sent fully insured. This is a genuine Viking artefact See pictures for condition. Date: circa 10th century AD Size: length apx 31mm Investing in Ancient Artefacts. Ancient artefacts are finite. Less are being discovered as time passes, and of course at some point in the future there will be no more. The quantity and availability of these ancient historic pieces is ever decreasing as collectors and museums purchase these objects and take them permanently off the market. Consequently, investment in antiquities is rising. Of course there are few of us who can afford to bid millions on objects like the Guennol Lioness, but, as availability decreases across the whole spectrum of ancient artefacts, investment is proving to be provident and wise, and most of all, for the sheer pleasure of owning a piece of ancient history.
