Ancient Roman Soldiers Solid Bronze Rings – Lot of (x3) 100-300 AD
About The Roman Jewelry Apart from gold and other precious metals. Romans used glass to make their jewelry. Roman jewelry gives us an insight into the culture of this ancient country. Just like other ancient civilizations. Rome also had its distinct strata of social classes. In the Roman society, jewelry was worn for indicating the social status of a person and attaching pieces of clothing rather than beautification. Gold was used by the artisans and jewelers for carving the adornments and jewelry as it was believed to be the metal of the Gods and supposed to have descended from the sun. Other than gold, the materials used in jewelry making were bronze, Roman glass, bone beads and precious gemstones which were excavated from far off places like Persia, Far East, Indus Valley, etc. Diamonds, emeralds and sapphires found their way from the ... moresilk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. About This Ring This very handsome lot of three ancient Roman soldier’s bronze rings have remained incredibly solid and fully intact. And of excellent, well-preserved condition. Each ring bears its own unique character/carvings, a very smooth feel all around and a good weight, making for very comfortably worn ancient adornments today. These historically symbolic rings were each worn during a period when propriety demanded that the adult Roman male wear only one item of jewellery. Ancient Greek. As well as Roman soldiers would bury their coins for safe-keeping, much in the same way as we today when we place our money in the bank for safekeeping. The soldiers buried their coins before battle and as people were driven from their lands or even worse killed, these possessions would remain where they la for hundreds or even thousands of years on. Today excavations as well as individuals searching these cities and ancient battle grounds yield great finds. A dark. Natural patina is reta
A REMARKABLE SOLID-CAST BRONZE STATUETTE OF A PANTHER
A REMARKABLE SOLID-CAST BRONZE STATUETTE OF A PANTHER Naturalistically executed in solid-cast bronze. This life-like figure of a panther is a remarkable work of animal art. Modeled with great attention to anatomic detail. The strong expression of face and the muscular body make a very powerful statement. Most striking is the pose and the rendering of the action of the hunt, the strong curves articulating the dramatic tension of the moment. The realistic rendering and the expressiveness of the composition are further enhanced by the extremely beautiful deep green patina which supplies the piece with an additional decorative appeal. BACKGROUND: The Panther is a magnificent creature and is symbolic of an intuitive and highly protective power. In mythology these felines symbolize facing and embracing the unknown and were thought to carry a guardian ... moreenergy. The Panther is ferocious and valiant and was believed to be one of the most powerful of all the animal spirits. In ancient Roman art the creature is often represented pulling the chariot in the ritual procession of Bacchus. Surrounded by maenads, satyrs and drunks, commemorating the god's triumphant return from the conquest of India, the historical prototype for the Roman Triumph. A figurine of the animal such as this one might be brought to the sanctuary and installed there as an offering for the deity. The Romans were known to keep small shrines, lararium) For private worshiping in their homes. The range of the statuettes was determined by the choice of family divine protectors. The figures of animals associated with these protectors could be also appropriate for such small sculpture arrangements in the home. Statuettes of Bacchus(or a satyr) and a she-panther might share the same base as it is known from the marble statues. 2.9 inches in length(73.5 mm) Mounted on a magnificent solid mahogany plinth with original labels still attached. This very rare and exceptional piece of Roman jewellery is elegant in design and was created as a symbol of its ancient patron’s devotion of the Roman Goddess. Flora. It is made of solid bronze and its floral-shaped bezel takes centre positioning, consisting of six bronze knobbed petals and its central stamen. Its band is very thick and solid and smooth all around making this a very comfortably worn ring today, as it was when it was last worn 1,700 years ago. This ring would very likely also have been owned by a young Roman woman as a gift of blessing and/or a charm that will give her fertility and children. A dark, natural patina covers the entire surface of this ring, testament to its age and authenticity. In Roman mythology. Flora was a goddess of flowers and the season of spring. While she was otherwise a relatively minor figure in Roman mythology, being one among several fertility goddesses, her association with the spring gave her particular importance at the coming of springtime. This particular piece of ancient treasure is called the’Evil Eye’ ring. Its band is very broad while its bezel is of a large, almond-shape, defined at each end. Hints of its original golden-hued bronze are seen in areas at the bezel. According to legend. This ring was used as a form of protection against evil spirits and bad omens for its wearer. The evil eye, a glance believed to have the ability to harm those on whom it falls, can come from anyone at any moment, or you can draw it to yourself. The cause can be zealo

This exceptional piece of Roman jewellery is elegant in design and was created as a symbol of its ancient patron’s devotion of the Roman Goddess. Flora. It is made of bronze and is fully intact, bearing a large floral-shaped bezel with a pointed nodule which takes centre positioning and a smaller sized decorative floral moulding on each side of it. Its band is very thick, extremely solid, rounded and smooth all around making this a very wearable ring today, as it was when it was last worn in antiquity. A dark, natural patina is retained all over with light earthen sediments that have settled in many areas around the ring. In Roman mythology. Flora was a goddess of flowers and the season of spring. Square-shaped bezel. Its bezel bears a raised border and a raised circle in the middle which represents the evil eye itself. The superstition of the evil-eye refers to holding. That a glance can cause injury or death to those on whom it falls. The belief was found in ancient Greece and Rome as well as in folk cultures around the world, and it has persisted into modern times. Children and animals are believed to be particularly vulnerable. The evil eye is often thought to stem from envy and malice toward prosperity and beauty, and thus in many cultures unguarded praise of one's possessions or children is thought to invite misfortune. CV Roman Bronze Ring ***NEW*** LEGION XI FLORAL CROSS PIA FIDELIS ~Thick & Solid
ROMAN BRONZE RING Awesome ring from Legion XI"Claudia Pia Fidelis" Size 9 Average Opening = 18.88mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. Legionary Power! This ring was found at a Roman encampment site in Ancient Moesia and dates from between 300 and 400 A.D. This ring features the device of the 11th Legion which controlled the area from 100AD until the Empire eventually fell to the Barbarians. Prior to the Emperor Constantine's conversion to Christianity. The Legion had either a dolphin or dolphin and trident for their insignia. After the legion helped ... moreConstantine put down rebellions they adopted this new device. The design on the bezel is a Floral Cross over an"X" and the X is made up of four Crosses and instead of a single line to highlight the inside of each"petal" each one is filled with a row of punched dots. The newer design was adopted by the Legion after the famous battle of the Milvian Bridge. There are also decorations on each shoulder. Each shoulder has the classic"BULLET" escutcheon decoration on them that are on a lot of these Legionary rings especially the Legionary Eagle and pentagram rings. Each one also has a nice X engraved on them. This ring is a nice example of this ring type and is highly decorated. You can tell from my pictures how BEEFY this ring is. This ring is one of the most solid examples of this ring type that I have seen in quite a while. The color and shine are both first rate making this example a highly sought after design which will help to make this ring a wonderful addition to any collection. Look at the shine and condition of this ring. It has excellent color and the surface is highly polished. Above are both side views against a white background I just ha
CV Roman Bronze Ring ***NEW*** SUPERB LEGIONARY SHIELD ~ Extra Solid Condition
ROMAN BRONZE RING Best Yet! Super Legionary Shield Ring! Size 8 1/2 Average Opening = 18.53mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This is one GORGEOUS ring! This is a Legionary"Shield" ring that was found by metal detector at a Roman Battlefield site and dates from between 100 and 300 A.D. This ring features the"E-3" shield design. It's called E-3 because that's what the main engravings on the sides of the bezel most closely resemble. Those archaeologist aren't big on imagination when it comes to naming things I guess. The ONLY ... moreproblem with this name for THIS ring is that the"E-3" design is really more of an"X" and the deepness and clarity of the design tells us that the upper and lower arms just aren't worn away. These rings are a first cousin to the popular"Diamond Shield" designs with the four sets of engraved lines arranged in a diamond pattern. These rings usually had either zig-zags. Lightning bolts, or a double row of dots running vertically through the center of the shield. This example has the double row of dots. Most of you will have seen these design engraved on a round or oval bezel and this bezel is octagonal and measures 14mm X 13mm. The thickness and roundness to the whole design makes this ring one of the best examples of this ring type that I have been able to offer in the last year. Even both sides of the band have some vertical banding remaining on them. This ring is a GREAT example of it's type and these rings are getting rarer all the time. Above and below are two more views of this nice ring in a terrific wearable size. Look at the color and shine of this BEAUTY! The picture above illustrates the shine that I was able to achieve on tonights rin
CV Celtic Bronze Ring ***NEW*** PERFECT LADIES DOUBLE SWIRL ~ Solid Beauty!
CELTIC BRONZE RING Awesome Ladies Golden Celtic Swirls Size 5 3/4 Average Opening = 16.30mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. Come all ye Celtic Ladies! This ring was found at a site in Ancient Thrace where the Celtic tribes held sway until they were subdued by the Romans. This ring dates from between 300BC and 100AD. This fine ring features a 16mm X 9mm bezel which is quite thick. The bezel has the 2 opposing swirls engraved upon it as well as some more accent lines and a nice outlining design. These are all well done and I noticed something about this design. ... moreIf you look at it one way. You see the two classic swirls but if you look at it another way, the engraved lines are really the frame for a nice"S" curved swirl that doubles back on itself over the surface of the ring. LOOK.at the third picture and notice all of the teeny chisel marks that the design is composed of. These swirl designs were quite popular among the Ancient Celts and figured heavily in a lot of their decorative work. This ring is in extremely good condition for being of such a great age and the shine and finish of the ring are first rate. The band is triangular in cross-section and mimics the shape of the bezel. I have gotten MANY emails from the ladies out there asking for one of these rings in a size and scale that they can wear. Well. Here It Is! This ring is right around a size 5 3/4. This size as well as the scaled down features of this ring will make for an excellent example for the Celtic Woman who has always wanted a ring in this style. The surface of this ring is FLAWLESS and the clean lines along with the near perfect decorations make this an example of the highest caliber. Above and below are two more views of this ring. The picture shows how

ROMAN BRONZE RING Thick& Heavy ~ Soldier's Star Shield Ring Size 8 3/4 Average Opening = 18.67mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. FANTASTIC! This ring was found at a Roman military encampment site in Ancient Moesia and dates from the first few centuries A.D. This ring is done in a style that is usually seen to have a shield motif engraved upon it. The engravings are clear and sharp and really stand out from the mirrorlike surface of this ring. The design almost looks like a linear and more abstract version of the"Diamond-Star" design. Instead ... moreof the narrow. More delicate engravings, This ring's engraver used bold, deep lines to lay out his design. The whole design is highlighted by the use of many triangular chisel marks. Besides that super bezel engravings. The shoulders have very many deep, linear engravings. The light really dances across the shoulder engravings and the bezel face as you move it back and forth in the sunlight. Look at all of my pictures and you will see how thick and solid the band of this ring is. The bezel is also nice in that it sits up on a flare above the band. A lot of this has to do with how the wax model for these early rings were made and so this type of ring has a more"organic" look to it. This ring is perfect for everyday wear because it is 7mm wide along the whole length and is almost 3mm thick. This ring was also cast from an alloy with a very high copper content that should let it mellow with age into that deep. Plum color with some nice purple overtones. These rings are getting more scarce all the time and finding one like this which has a simple elegance to it and with a military connection is a rare treat indeed. Above and below are two more views of this GREAT ri
CV Celtic Bronze Ring **NEW** SUPER FOUR WINDS BATTLE RING ~Solid Everyday Ring!
CELTIC BRONZE RING Golden Celtic"Four Winds" Design Size 9 3/4 Average Opening = 19.62mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This is a SUPER ring! This ring was found at the site of a Roman Military encampment but is of Celtic-Thracian origin and dates from around 100 B.C. The highlight is the engraved swirling design of the"Four Winds" symbol. The Celts as well as most other indigenous peoples of the area had a very strong connection with all things natural. Fair weather was a blessing for all and the Ancient Celts would try any method they ... morebelieved would work to try and curry favor with the gods. They were extremely fond of votive rings and amulets. They did double duty. They showed the gods that they really cared and that they looked nice when worn was an added benefit. This design is also great because of the type of ring that is made upon. Most of you will recognize this as a"Battle" ring because of the projecting bezel. This one is a bit different because the bezel is almost a perfect square that measures about 12mm to a side and is about 5mm thick with linear lip decorations. This is only the third or fourth time that I have seen one of these"Four Wind" designs made on one of these rings. Even the"Four Winds" symbol is different than most and almost looks like a four armed tetraskele or swirl. The"high copper" alloy that the ring was cast from. Accounts for the super color and fantastic shine of this ring. There are also great details on the shoulders of this ring. There are tabbed and stepped shoulder escutcheons on each shoulder. This whole ring is thick& solid and would make for a nice daily wear ring for someone so inclined. The band is over 6mm wide and 2.5mm

These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. An AWESOME Design Motif! This ring was found at a Roman site in Ancient Moesia but was made by one of the Celtic Hilltribes and most likely came from Thrace and dates to between 200BC- 200AD This ring features a large. 18mm x 11mm eye-shaped bezel which is slightly raised and is quite thick! The design engraved on the bezel is a"Flying Swastika" There are Four of the crooked arms to this Swastika. These 4-armed varieties are also related to ... morethe Celtic Triskel. The arms are spinning in a clockwise direction. The design looks a lot like a toy pin-wheel. There are small"motion" lines on the outside of each leg which gives it the illusion of spinning. This overlays a nice outlined"netting" or"web" background. These designs go back in time into pre-history and had a magical significance which would change based on whether the Swastika was moving clockwise or counter-clockwise. The band is also wide and thick. The whole ring has a definite"heft" to it as well as a remarkable reddish-golden color with exquisite shine. Above and below are two more views of this ring which has an awesome color and shine all over the surface of this solid ring. Below is a picture that shows the EXTREME shine of the group of rings I am offering tonight Do not miss your chance to add this super ring to your collection of Ancient Celtic artifacts. CELTIC BRONZE RING Tribal Chief's Ring with LaTene Period"Magic Rune" Design Size 11 Average Opening = 20.67mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. Beautiful Shine and a Mysterious Design! Look at this Ancient Beauty that was found near a Celtic settlement site in the Danube Valley and dating from about 300 B.C. during the LaTene Period This is a hefty version of a Celtic Chief's Ring that was given to a trusted tribesman who would carry this ring as a token of his ability to speak for his chief in important matters. This ring features a 6mm thick. ... more12mm X 11mm squarish shaped bezel which has a crisp engraving done in a style that was popular for many centuries before the Roman conquest of the Celtic lands. LOOK.at my pictures and you will see how well crafted and solid this bezel is. When I started cleaning this ring and saw the bezel design I was amazed because I had expected to see one of the typical"Lightning Bolts" or"Tetraskele" designs that are common to these big beefy rings. The center of the design has a symbol that a lot of people think is some type of VIKING RUNES. Even though it does resemble some of the Ancient Runes. I believe that it is some other sort of Magical Symbol or Script and the fact that they look like Runes is a coincidence unless they could be a type of Pre-Hun runes. I have only seen this design once before and it must be of a kind that was used for a specific magical purpose. Although I cannot be sure of exactly what it was used for it does also resemble the symbol that the later Vikings would name the"Helm of Awe" which Viking warriors would draw onto their forehead with ashes before going into battle. The three design on the tips of some lines look spot on t
