The relatively large ring consisting of a round hoop ending in a transversely oval bezel depicting in the mid an altar with a burning flame flanked by two rearing up snakes. Both snakes holding a laurel branch in their mouths. Below the baseline. Between the snake heads and above are letters incised. The inscription is written counterclockwise, the ring was thus determined to seal. Similar motifs were found on engraved stones and coins that were made for a saeculare celebration. I clean them and I put in the hours to do it( one ring can take as many as 5 hours to clean properly. because I feel that they should be seen as their last owners saw them bright and shiny( I leave the inner part of the ring as-is so the new owner can be the first person in the age of the ring to touch it once the"PATINA" wears-off.
