Roman Soldiers Helmet Pendant Solid Sterling Silver with FREE silver chain
Roman soldier's helmet. Also called a Galea was worn by Roman Legions soldiers and also gladiators, when action required. It is hard to single out any exact design or type of the Roman helmet. What we tried to deliver here is a combination of most common features of this beautiful and advanced creation of the period of time it was developed. Used, and examined by harsh tests in severe conditions. Design of the helmet varied significantly over time. Between differing unit types, and also between individual examples. Ancient military equipment was made by hand, so it is not certain to what degree there was any standardization even under the Roman Empire. This Pendant/Slide is hand created and assembled with flexible cheek guard. Hidden bail insures perfectly balanced positioning to accommodate FREE 18” long link chain. About The Roman Jewelry Apart from gold and other precious metals. Romans used glass to make their jewelry. Roman jewelry gives us an insight into the culture of this ancient country. Gold was used by the artisans and jewelers for carving the adornments and jewelry as it was believed to be the metal of the Gods and supposed to have descended from the sun. Other than gold, the materials used in jewelry making were bronze, Roman glass, bone beads and precious gemstones which were excavated from far off places like Persia, Far East, Indus Valley, etc. Diamonds, emeralds and sapphires found their way from the ... moresilk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. Its band is broad, bears an impeccable symmetrical form and is incredibly smooth all around, making for a very comfortable fit when worn today. On each side of its bezel are a set of three decorative silver knobs. Its deep, cup-type bezel holds securely within itself the most beautiful orange glass inlay. The Romans used glass extensively to imitate precious stones such as emerald, sardonyx, and amethyst, since glass was much easier to carve. This shade of orange would have been used to imitate the likes of a precious amber gemstone. Because amber both contains plant& animal life. It was thought to be a vessel of eternal youth. Historically, amber is tied to preservation. Roman ladies of the court played with amber, holding it in their hands and stroking it, as contact with amber was thought to guarantee a youthful look. Amber amulets and rings were worn to enhance fertility and served as a magnet to attract joy t

Rare and elegant antique solid silver roman ring; size 10 US; 4.7 grams
Rare and elegant antique solid silver roman ring; size 10 US; 4.7 grams DESCRIPTION: Up for auction today is an antique solid silver Roman ring. Dating from approximately 100-300 AD. It features a bezel which measures 14 mm by 12 mm, which tapers to a very sturdy shank which is 3 mm at the narrowest point. The shoulders are engraved with three striations on each side of the bezel; this was engraved with a design which has largely been worn away with time. It is a size 10 US(or T 1/2 UK) weighs 4.7 grams, and was a metal detecting find in Britain. A very elegant and wearable piece of antiquity, indeed. CONDITION: Very good condition; scratches commensurate with age. And the design on the bezel is only a tantalizing remnant of what was originally present(perhaps the profile of a face or an animal) Nevertheless, this ring is very solidly constructed, ... morehas no flaws in its structure, and could easily be worn daily. Please see photos for condition.
