Bronze ... moreDimensions with Marble Base:Height 14" x Width 12" Marble Dimensions: 12" x 7" Height without base: 13" Weight: 30 LBS Inventory: 68X802311286 War-weary. The nude Roman legion has collapsed onto the floor. Dropping his dagger to unfasten his cloak, he begins to rest his head against a wall, letting his guard fall. Despite his fatigue, his eyes are open and transfixed, as he unblinkingly recalls the screams and horrors of the war that turn and twist inside his mind. The handmade bronze sculpture was molded using the archaic methods of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown patina finish. He stands upon a black marble base with the European Bronze Finery stamp of quality and the artist J. Debut's signature. The process of bringing a bronze sculpture to life using the lost-wax method is something you'll appreciate after taking this tour- Enjoy. Here Artist original clay sculpture is nearly ready for the foundry. Note the artist is still adding the finishing touches. Most sculptors prefer to work with clay or wax; some however. Do use wood and other mediums. Here the finished original clay is now complete. The sculptor will take it to the foundry now, get a bid then begin the first stages of the lost wax process. The first step can be shocking for some as they begin to decide how this original will be cut up. In order to prepare the original clay sculpture for molding. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Note the registration marks which later in the process will serve to realign the parts. Shown here are the sections of the original clay sculpture after having been dissected. Now the various parts of the original are carefully mounted on clay plugs before the rubber mold material is applied. T

Constantine I & Crispus/ Lot 2 Rare ancient Roman coins/Legion soldiers / Wreath
SquareTrade © AP6.0 s672 Coinstantine I and his son Crispus as caesar Lot of 2 Lot of two Roman coins AE follis 1 8-19mm. Uncleaned as pictured. Well centered rare and interesting nice specimens. Original glossy green patina over ancient silvering. Authenticity guaranteed You are bidding on an original ancient Roman coin as described and pictured above. Flavius Julius Crispus. Also known as Flavius Claudius Crispus and Flavius Valerius Crispus was a Caesar of the Roman Empire. He was the first-born son of Constantine I and Minervina. Birth Crispus' year and place of birth are uncertain. He is considered likely to have been born between 299 and 305. Somewhere in the Eastern Roman Empire. His mother Minervina was either a concubine or a first wife to Constantine. Nothing else is known about Minervina. His father served as a hostage ... morein the court of Eastern Roman Emperor Diocletian in Nicomedia. Thus securing the loyalty of Caesar of the Western Roman Empire Constantius Chlorus. Father of Constantine and grandfather of Crispus. In 307. Constantine allied to the Italian Augusti. And this alliance was sealed with the marriage of Constantine to Fausta. Daughter of Maximian and sister of Maxentius. The marriage of Constantine to Fausta has caused modern historians to question the status of his relation to Minervina and Crispus. If Minervina was his legitimate wife. Constantine would have needed to secure a divorce before marrying Fausta. This would have required an official written order signed by Constantine himself. But no such order is mentioned by contemporary sources. This silence in the sources has led many historians to conclude that the relationship between Constantine and Minervina was informal and to assume her to have been an unofficial lover. However. Minervina may have already been dead by 307. A widowed Constantine would need no divorce order. Neither the true nature of the relationship between Constantine and Minervina nor the reason Crispus came under the protection of his father will ever proba

A Most TERRIFIC Ring! This ring is another Roman Battlefield site find from the Balkans and dates from between 100 and 300 A.D. This ring will be easily recognized by most of you as a Roman Legionary"Scutum" shield ring. This ring has nice engravings with the traditional four sets of triple engraved lines arranged in a diamond pattern with a nicely engraved lightning bolt zig-zagging its way through the center of the bezel. ... moreThis ring's bezel was not just engraved this way. This rings bezel design is CAST this way which is rare for these rings as is the heft and thickness of the ring. It is difficult to tell from my pictures but the central diamond is slightly raised up from the lines of the diamond outline. The finish on this ring is first class. Not only was this ring cast from an alloy that has a wonderful gold color but it polishes up so nicely that you can see your reflection in any part of the band as well as the bezel. This ring is SUPER solid and comes in a size 12 that I have only seen a half a handful of times with this ring style. Above and below are two more views of this nice ring in a popular motif. Although it is possible that the Romans referred to the armour as" lorica laminata" ... moreThe armour itself consisted of broad ferrous(originally iron. But steel in modern recreations) strips(girth hoops' fastened to internal leather straps. The strips were arranged horizontally on the body. Overlapping downwards, and they surrounded the torso in two halves, being fastened at the front and back. The upper body and shoulders were protected by additional strips(shoulder guards' and breast- and backplates. The form of the armour allowed it to be stored very compactly, since it was possible to separate it into four sections. The fitments that closed the various plate sections together(buckles, lobate hinges, hinged straps, tie-hooks, tie-rings, etc. were, however, made of brass. However in later variants dating from around 75-80 A.D. the fastenings of the armor were simplified. Bronze hinges were removed in favor of simple rivets. Belt fastenings utilized small hooks, and the lowest two girdle plates were replaced by one broad plate. P

ROMAN 10th. LEGION BRONZE OFFICER'S RING
ROMAN 10th. LEGION BRONZE OFFICER'S RING Hi Folks, This is a Roman Bronze 10.t h legion Officer's ring( I believe it is an offi cer's ring because it is one of the finest ring's of it's type I have ever seen. It is a size 7 1/4. It is in very fine condition, it will make a great addition to any collection! Good luck& good bidding! Peace& blessings. Grover ~PATINA~*On the subject of patina. I have had several emails telling and asking me if taking the so-called"patina" off the piece lessens it's value. In my opinion it is not patina but dirt. Patina is found on bronze statues and forms because of their exposure to the air. Almost all of the items I sell and the items like mine on-line, have come out of the ground. They are found either in flint lined safety boxes put into the ground by the original ... moreowners or in clumps of dirt if the boxes have broken open, which is the case most of the time. The dirt has to be broken away to even see the items and that is not a patina, but dirt. If you look on-line you will see that almost all the ancient Roman and Celtic gold and silver jewelry has been cleaned. It has been cleaned to show its true beauty. Most sellers do not want to do this with the bronze( jewelry or coins) because it is time consuming and hard work with little monetary return for the extra effort. I clean them and I put in the hours to do it( one ring can take as many as 5 hours to clean properly. because I feel that they should be seen as their last owners saw them bright and shiny( I leave the inner part of the ring as-is so the new owner can be the first person in the age of the ring to touch it once the"PATINA" wears-off. As far as lessening the value, most of these items are less than $100 and in the 11 years I have been selling these items on Eba there has been little change in the price. In the end it is up to you, the buyer, to decide for yourselves if you would rather have a clean or dirty ring.

I came across another legionary ... morering a year or so ago that had almost the same exact symbol on it. These sun symbols were extremely popular among many Mediterranean cultures. It traveled west as the symbol of Mithra who was a god that was worshipped in Mesopotamia by various cultures. This symbol was also used in Rome for the worship of Sol Invictus who the Greeks worshiped as Helios. There was also a big cult of Mithra amongst the legionaries of the Roman Legions. The fact that there are typical legion"X" designs on both shoulder escutcheons which leads me to believe in a more intimate legion connection The shoulders have excellent decorations of double-lined X's remaining that really highlight the ring's bezel. The shoulder"escutcheons" on this ring are quite pronounced and one is more worn than the other which tells me that this was a pinky ring which often rubbed on hard surfaces on that side. Look at the picture below which tries to show you a close-up of these details. The ring has an odd shape from being worn by the same person for many years. This ring has wonderful color and shine and will make an excellent addition to ANY collection. Above and below are 2 more views of
Ancient Roman Tenth Twin Legion (Legio X Gemina) Bronze Ring 132-135 AD
Ancient Roman Tenth Twin Legion(Legio X Gemina) Bronze Ring 132-135 AD Apart from gold and other precious metals. Romans used glass to make their jewelry. Roman jewelry gives us an insight into the culture of this ancient country. Just like other ancient civilizations. Rome also had its distinct strata of social classes. In the Roman society, jewelry was worn for indicating the social status of a person and attaching pieces of clothing rather than beautification. Gold was used by the artisans and jewelers for carving the adornments and jewelry as it was believed to be the metal of the Gods and supposed to have descended from the sun. Other than gold, the materials used in jewelry making were bronze, Roman glass, bone beads and precious gemstones which were excavated from far off places like Persia, Far East, Indus Valley, etc. Diamonds, emeralds ... moreand sapphires found their way from the silk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. A fully intact Tenth Twin Legion(Gemina) ring in excellent condition. Its band is incredibly thick and broad and boasts impeccable symmetrical form. With a smooth feel all around. The surface of its large rounded bezel is adorned with two vertical sets of parallel lines and two‘X’ carvings, one on top of the other in the middle(one of the‘X’ carvings has been smoothened down due to excessive ancient use. A dark, natural patina is retained all over with light earthen sediments that have settled in areas around the ring, testament to its age and authenticity. Legio decima Gemina(Tenth Twin Legion) Was one of the four legions used by Julius Caesar in 58 BC, for his invasion of Gaul. As this particular ring was found in the Judean desert, Israel we know that it was the proud personal adornment of a legionary soldier who fought to supress the Jewish rebellion over the Romans. During the Trajan's first campaign in Dacia(101-102) the legion participated at the Second Battle of Tapae fought against the army of the Dacians led by King Decebalus. In 103,

This very attractive and handsome ancient Roman bronze ring was once the proud possession and symbol of loyalty of an ancient Roman soldier of the Tenth Legion(Legio X Equestris) It is a very weighty piece and of a large size. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This ring has an SUPERB design! This fine ring was found at a Roman encampment site in Ancient Moesia and dates from between 100 and 300 AD. This ring features the Roman Legionary Shield design. There is a shield design in the center of the bezel. Where the more common rings have a diamond surrounded by sets of lines in a diamond shape or a chevron. This example has a super design that was done in such a way that REALLY jumps out at you. ... moreThe 13mm X 15mm octagonal bezel has a SUPER decoration on it. There a wide, vertical"strap" through the center of the bezel. There is a series of lines in the form of an"X" behind the strap. The design on this ring is in TIP TOP condition. The design is crisp and clear and very well done. The surface of this ring is as smooth as glass. The bezel decorations are also nicely framed on each shoulder with impeccably done"Reed& Column" decorations. Ancient Rome may have passed into history. But at least we have these artifacts to remind us of Rome's legendary might. It was common practice for Roman soldiers to wear rings that resembled the devices on their shields. It was common practice for Roman Legionaries to carry pieces of"liberated" jewelry in their purses for use as hard currency when on campaign. They would use them as money for their favorite off-duty activities. Namely, wine, women and gambling. This is a simple yet elegant ring that will complement any wardrobe nicely. This ring has that"CLASSIC" Roman styling which is HIGHLY sought after today. Above and below are two more views of this SUPER ring. The color and shi

CV Roman Bronze Ring **NEW** FULLY DECORATED FANCY 10th LEGION STAR size 10
ROMAN BRONZE RING Awesome 10th Legion"Diamond-Star" Design with Superior Decorations Size 10 Average Opening = 19.83mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. MAGNIFICENT! This ring was found at a Roman site in Ancient Moesia and dates from 100- 300 AD We'll start out with the alloy from which the ring was cast. This ring was cast from a rich. Golden alloy which is the finest that you are likely to see in a ring of this type due to its very high copper content. The design on the trumpet shaped 13mm x 15mm raised. Table bezel, is a nicely done design ... morewhich is HIGHLY detailed. This type of ring usually had a"shield" device engraved on it but instead this has a"diamond-star" design. In the center, there is carved a very bold and deep"X" which often stood for the 10th Legion. There are nicely done, radiating light lines around edge of the bezel to really highlight this ring's bezel. The REAL STAR of this ring though are the shoulder decorations. These shoulder decorations are known as"Strap& Buckle" decorations because they look just like a"saddle strap" going through a"belt loop" They are not just casually engraved either. They are perfectly modeled and give a beefy. Masculine look to this design. There are the remains of two very deep indentations on the buckle shaped escutcheons. I have added two pictures that feature a view of both shoulders below. You only find about 1 in 300 of these rings with such nice decorations and especially in a nice wearable size. The ring isn't a perfect circle but easily fits a finger that is right around a size 10. Not only is this ring highly detailed but it's surface condition is second to none and it has an amazing co
CV Roman Bronze Ring **NEW** HIGH FIGHTERS LEGION "X" w/ Palm Branches sz10 1/2
ROMAN BRONZE RING Golden Bezeled Fighting Ring with"Legion X" and Palm Fronds Size 10 1/2 Average Opening = 20.19mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This is a GREAT example of this ring type! This is a great ring that did double duty for it's owner. On the surface it appears to be just a nice ring with an interesting bezel that would catch the light and be an attractive piece. These rings had a more practical and sinister use though. Because of their shape. They were quite good to have on your hand in a fight. The protruding bezel could inflict ... moregreat damage and pain to an opponent. The pictures show how the band strengthened the design and gave the bezel support when dealing an opponent a blow, instead of just being a round band of bronze that the bezel sat upon. This rings bezel rises steeply to a square bezel with two side flanges on each shoulder which protrude greatly. There is a nice and clear"X" engraved right on the tip of the bezel. The letter"X" was often used by the 10th Legion. This"X" is much fancier than we usually see. It has a nicely done palm branch or frond on each of the side slopes This ring has a VERY architectural look to it and the picture which actually gives you the best idea of how nice this simple ring looks when worn on your finger. It was difficult to get a halfway decent picture of this ring as there are so many curved surfaces and the shine is so excellent that I almost always got a glare or shadows on one part or another. It is very rare to have one of these rings that still has such nice color AND nice details engraved on it which will make this ring a perfect addition to any collection. Above and below are two more views of this SUPER ring. The picture bel

These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. Legionary Power! This ring was found at a Roman encampment site in Ancient Moesia and dates from between 300 and 400 A.D. This ring features the device of the 11th Legion which controlled the area from 100AD until the Empire eventually fell to the Barbarians. Prior to the Emperor Constantine's conversion to Christianity. The Legion had either a dolphin or dolphin and trident for their insignia. After the legion helped ... moreConstantine put down rebellions they adopted this new device. The design on the bezel is a Floral Cross over an"X" and the X is made up of four Crosses and instead of a single line to highlight the inside of each"petal" each one is filled with a row of punched dots. The newer design was adopted by the Legion after the famous battle of the Milvian Bridge. There are also decorations on each shoulder. Each shoulder has the classic"BULLET" escutcheon decoration on them that are on a lot of these Legionary rings especially the Legionary Eagle and pentagram rings. Absolutely outstanding Ancient Roman Legionary Silver Ring of Legion III
Absolutely outstanding Ancient Roman Legionary Silver Ring of Legion III Small ancient Roman Legionary silver ring of Legion III. Whether Augusta or Cyrenica is not known. The ring consisting of a solid band slightly rounded and ending in wider bended shoulders and a transversely oval bezel. The bezel depicting a straight forward eagle, the wings vertical and standing on a rod or similar. Right and left is engraved a legion standard. The lower end of the rod is incised with the inscription LEG and III. The last two pictures show the ring in the original uncleaned condition. We have cleaned it a little so that the details are easier to see but tried to preserve the original condition and patina. Legio III(Third Augustan Legion) was a Roman legion raised in the year 43 BCE most likely by the consul Gaius Vibius Pansa and the emperor Augustus ... morewho served the Roman Empire in North Africa until at least the late 4th century CE. It is possible that it fought in the battle of Philippi against the murderers of Caesar. It is probable that the Legion served Augustus while he waged war against Sextus Pompeius who threatened the grain supply from Africa to Rome. After he had won. Augustus turned on Lepidus and defeated him, winning the province of Africa in the process. The next movement of the legion is unclear but“it is certain that from 30 BCE on, the Third was permanently in Africa, although it was not always stationed in the same camp. The increasing importance of the grain supply from Africa made the presence of the legion all the more important. The legion suffered several wars, constant border skirmishes, rebellions, disbandment, reformation, and yet, it managed to defend Northern Africa for a period of 500 years. During this time, it was a military force but more so, it was a building and cultural force that was a major mover in the urbanization of the province. 3.4. C. AD Weight 7.4 grams. Size 1.8 x 1.6 mm. Multiple temples were erected in her honor. When her statue was removed in 382 CE by Emperor Gratianus there was much anger in Rome. She was normally worshiped by triumphant generals returning from war. Also unlike the Greek Nike. SCREAMING EAGLE This ring was found at a Roman encampment site in Ancient Thrace and dates from 200- 400 AD This is one of the most highly sought after ring designs by collectors of Roman Antiquities. These rings were ONLY worn by soldiers in Rome's Legions and this is one of the most highly decorated examples that I have EVER come across. Get your piece of Legionary history by bidding high and bidding early. Or better yet, use ... morethe"Buy It Now" option to make sure you win this beauty. These ring are getting EXTREMELY hard to find. I love wearing these old rings myself but can safely say that these Eagle Rings are getting so rare that I would ask that you take care when wearing them because any more lost due to breakage would be a shame and it would be nice to be able to show off these GEMS for years to come. With that being said. This ring seems quite solid and makes a clear, ringing sound when dropped on my desk. This ring features extra design features that we do not usually see on these rings. The best feature of this ring is the AMAZING engraved signet design on the bezel face. This ring has a very wide and tall bezel that measures 18mm X 16mm. The center of the bezel has a nicely engraved LEGIONARY EAGLE. This is not the typical design as it was carved sideways to make it easier to use as a signet ring for sealing documents with wax. The color and high polish of this ring are both SPECTACULAR Just IMAGINE if this ring could talk.Oh the stories. It would tell! The Eagle was made the Legionary standard by Gaius Marius at the tail end of the Republican Period and continued in constant use un

ROMAN BRONZE RING Triple"SIGNUM" Battle Standard Motif Size 9 1/2 Average Opening = 19.41mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. Legions on the March! This ring was found at a Roman site in Ancient Moesia and dates from around 300 A.D. This ring features a flat. 16mm x 14mm oval bezel with some SUPERIOR engravings on it as well as an interesting lip decoration running along the bezels edge. Depicted on the bezel. Are a trio of Legion Battle Standards. This type is related to the"Vexillium" and has a pendant flag, this type also always had disks ... moreor circlets upon it. There is some debate as to which part of a legion these represented but there are some theories that these represented a particular Cohort within a Legion. You see a LOT of these on the reverse side of many Roman coins that had a Legionary significance. This is probably the most detailed example of this ring type that I have seen in quite some time. If you look closely at the little banner in the middle it looks like there is a XI for the Roman numeral 11 which may mean this was made for a soldier in the 11th Legion which was active in Eastern Europe for a few centuries. This is a well made ring with splendid decorations all the way around. Even the recessed rim has nice linear engravings on it. The color and shine of this ring are both 1st Rate and the solid looking band makes for an attractive ring. Above and below are 2 more views of this GREAT ring. The picture below shows the shine of the group of rings that I am offering tonight. This ring is Round& Sound and 100% wearable This ring has a Wonderful Golden color to it with faint patina traces remaining This ring is not a perfect circle but measures

CV Roman Silver Ring **NEW**DECORATED CHRISTIAN LEGION SHIELD ~large size 10 1/2
ROMAN SILVER RING Fancy Legionary Shield Great Design! Size 10 1/2 Average Opening = 20.20mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This ring has a SUPERB design! This fine ring was found at a Roman encampment site in Ancient Moesia and dates from between 100 and 300 AD This ring features the Roman Legionary Shield design. There is a shield design in the center of the bezel that I have rarely come across. Where the more common rings have a diamond surrounded by sets of lines in a diamond shape or a chevron. This example has three vertical panels with fine linear ... moredesigns that were carved in such a way that they REALLY jump out at you. LOOK.at the vertical lines that make up the panels. You can see the fine zig-zag lines that are only about 2 hairs wide. I have no idea what kind of chisel was used to make these designs but it was exceedingly fine. The design on this ring is in TIP TOP condition. There appear to be a squiggly line in one of the panels. Perhaps it is a snake? The center panel has a cross with a six pointed star above it. The last panel has what could be rays of light shining outward. I am unsure what these rings represent. I have another excellent example that has two of the panels completely empty and the third has an anserated cross with a star above and below it. These rings have to have been made to"say something" to whoever saw it. Much like wearing a Mason's ring today would signal your membership to other Freemasons. The design is crisp and clear and very well done. There are also some EXCELLENT shoulder decorations of a checkerboard or"net" pattern that fills these shoulder panels. The surface of this ring is as smooth as glass and the color is a deep. Bright, silver color due to the alloy tha

ROMAN BRONZE RING Deeply Cut- Palm Frond Star-Cross with Superior Decorations Size 9 1/4 Average Opening = 19.20mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. What an INTERESTING design! This ring was found at a Roman battlefield site and dates from between 100- 300 A.D. This ring features an 11mm X 12mm oval shaped table bezel with a nicely done Star-Cross on the bezel. While I have seen quite a few of these Star Crosses. We do not usually see example where the"arms" are done in this way. The four arms are made in the form of"Palm Fronds" This is ... morea great, added detail that really sets this example apart from it's more common cousins and is closely related in style to the example up above in my Antiquities Corner banner. There are also some nice linear decorations framing the center of this ring's bezel to make a nice geometric frame decoration. This ring has the sloped shoulders that have nice knob decorations with linear decorations to highlight them. The knobs on both shoulders and the one on the rear of the band are in SUPER shape that we just do not see on many of these rings. The color and shine of this ring are both 1st rate as it was cast from a super"high copper" alloy which is reflected in the rosy color of this ring. It was quite common for Roman soldier's to build up quite a little cache of"liberated" jewelry which they would use as a form of currency for their favorite activities. Gambling, women, food and drink. Above and below are two more views of this EXCITING ring. Below are both side views of this great ring against a white background. Above is a picture that shows you the knobs all around the band. I was able to get a GREAT shine on my rings as you can see in the picture

Richmond in 1960/1961, during an archeological excavation at the site of the fortress known as Inchtuthil, near Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. These nails were part of hoard buried by Roman soldiers, around the year 89 A.D. This fortress housed 5500 men who were successful in defeating the fierce Caledonians, who used immense swords and small shields made of iron as their primary weapons. The nails had been sent to the Roman general, Julius Agricula by 78 A.D. at the latest, to aid him in the Roman war against the Caledonians in Scotland. This Roman general commanded one of only 27 Roman legions, the XX, which later was responsible for building Hadrian’s Wall. In 84 A.D. General Agricula was recalled to Rome, the legion dispatched to Germany and the fortress at Inchtuthil was ordered dismantled and moved to Germany. CV Roman Bronze Ring ***NEW*** AWESOME LEGION SOLDIER BATTLE FIND ~ Large Size
ROMAN BRONZE RING Large Size and Sparkling Design with Crisp Engravings Size 9 1/2 Average Opening = 19.44mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This is a AWESOME ring! This ring was found at a Roman Battlefield site in the Balkans and dates from 100- 300 AD This ring features a VERY LARGE bezel that is an 20mm X 12mm"EYE" shape and which has a mirror finish to it as you can see in my pictures. Well actually.maybe you cant. Because I had to take the pictures without direct light because of the glare but believe me, the slightly concave surface as well ... moreas the bold pattern REALLY makes this ring a Light Bouncer. The bezel has a well done design. There is a large double"X" that overlays a big diamond. To make an oblique, checkerboard pattern. Inside of each smaller diamond, is a group of dots. Both the lines and dots are deep and bold, making for a very bold end product. The band is wide. Solid and of a nice wearable size. The color and condition of this ring is excellent. The pictures above and below show two more views. I must confess that I was not planning on selling this ring because it made for a bold design but it is just a teensy bit tight for me so one of you lucky people will get the pleasure. I can tell you. That during the short week that I wore this ring, it got at least a dozen comments. The picture above shows both side views of this attractive and solid ring. Above is a picture
Genuine Roman Silver Legionary Ring from Legio Decima Gemina (tenth twin legion)
Genuine Roman Silver Legionary Ring from Legio X Decima Gemina(tenth twin legion) Authentic Roman Silver Legionary ring either from Legio X Fretensis or probably due to the locality information near Carnuntum rather Legio X Gemina. The ring consisting of a flat band rounded from the outside and ending in a round bezel. The bezel depicting a Roman legionary Eagle with outstreched wings with two stars and a moon on top. One shoulder with engraved letters LEG. The other one with"X" The letters with massive abrasion and the" X" is better seen in the photos than in reality. Legio decima Gemina(Tenth Twin Legion) Was one of the four legions used by Julius Caesar in 58 BC, for his invasion of Gaul. There are still records of the X Gemina in Vienna in the beginning of the 5th century. Early on in its history, the legion was called ... moreX Equestris(mounted) because Caesar once used the legionaries as cavalry. In the Gallic Wars. X Equestris played an important role on Caesar's military success and for this reason is sometimes said to be his favorite. The legion was reconstituted in 42 BC and fought for Augustus(then Octavian) Lepidus and Mark Antony in the Battle of Philippi against the murderers of Caesar. The newly formed X Gemina was relocated to Hispania Tarraconensis, where Augustus was preparing a campaign against the Cantabrians. During the 3rd century. The legion fought for several emperors, who awarded the legion with titles showing the fidelity of the legion and the favour gained by the Emperor himself. The titles Antoniniana(awarded by Caracalla or Elagabalus) Gordiana(by Gordian III) Deciana(by Decius) Floriana(by Florianus) and Cariniana(by Carinus) were short-lived, however, and dropped after the death of the Emperor. For its support of Emperor Gallienus against Postumus, the Gemina was awarded the title Pia VI Fidelis VI, six times faithful, six times loyal"At the time in which Notitia Dignitatum was written(late 4th century) the first detachment of Decima Gemina was under the command
CV Roman Bronze Ring **NEW** GREAT TENTH AUXILIARY LEGION ~ Large sized 10 1/4
ROMAN BRONZE RING Roman Auxiliary Legion Ring! Size 10 1/4 Average Opening = 20.01mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. What a SUPER ring! This ring was found in Ancient Moesia and dates from 200- 400 A.D. This ring is from one of the many Auxiliary Legions that Rome raised from the native levees in her provinces. You will notice in the picture above that this ring was made to use as a seal. The center of this bezel has a nicely engraved monogram. LOOK.at the design! It is still as clear as the day this ring was made. The central design is of a Fancy"Diamond" ... moreshaped Cross with four"Lightning Bolt" designs framing it. Each shoulder has that typical Roman slope to it and have panels of linear decorations on them. I have been looking through my records to find which units were operating in that area and may account for this design. But haven't identified it so far. I believe that it may have belonged to one of the Auxiliary units that were attached to the 10th Legion. The Romans would levy troops from people who had skills in war that weren't standard to the legions and employ them against their enemies. It was common for career soldiers to move from legion to legion based on which Legate would see the most profitable action and therefore amass more loot for his troops. This ring was probably used to seal dispatches carried by runners between units when on campaign. This ring was also cast from an odd alloy that is mostly bronze but seems to have some raw copper in it. Probably for strength. You may be able to tell if you look closely at my pictures that the colors seem to swirl like there was not a 100% merging of the metals or maybe the centuries in the ground have had an effect where the metals are startin
