It is very difficult to show the quality of 2.000-year old Roman glass, at least under the time and cost constraints of working on ebay. Given a day in a studio with proper lighting, I'm sure we could offer a better look at the item. This vase is about 65mm in height and relatively symmetrical. Just like today. The Romans created glass for every day use and for royalty and for visiting dignitaries and so on. The pieces considered today to be museum quality would for the most prt be those in which the finest artisans spent long hours producing as close to perfect as the skills and glass of the day would allow. The first Roman glass to which we were exposd was in Israel in 1980 and the pieces were very delicate and the glass was very thin. That would subject the items to breakage quite easily. Especially when these small pieces were intended ... morefor daily use-for perfume or other oils and uses. Large glasswork was intended for daily use as well, at the dining table, for example. The fancier pieces and those with adornments might well fetch $10.000+ if you could even find them in the commercial market. The next step up, museum quality and under the watchful eye of collectors is the level where sales agents are employed ala Indiana Jones to find the buyers and museums anxious for the works of art must act quickly or lose a desired piece to the agent for a major collector. Such pieces may not scream value to the uninitiated, but to the knowledgeable, they recognize the million-dollar pieces. We're just a tad below those levels here. But we can offer a very attractive fairly thick walled glass piece that has a non symmetrical top lip and a very symmetrical wide base at the bottom. It has about 15 ribs around the bottom 1/3 that are quite even, but the design stops after completing perhaps 80+% of the circumference of the vase.
