Ancient Roman Pottery Bowl II-Earthenware-Roman Empire-100-200 AD!
ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS Artifacts. Antiques& Fine Collectables Ancient Roman Empire Pottery Earthenware Bowl II Roman Empire c. 100- 200 AD Original. Authentic, and Extremely RARE! This ancient Earthenware Bowl dates to the Roman Empire and is from my personal collection. It is a museum quality example of an ancient Roman terracotta bowl that would have been used in daily life or to hold offerings to the Gods or as ritual tomb object that would hold offerings to the Gods. This 100% original and authentic bowl dates to the Roman Empire circa 100-200 AD and was unearthened in Northern Italy. I purchased it in the late 1960s from a museum that had decommissioned it. This unglazed earthenware bowl measures approximately 3.0" in diameter x 2.5" tall(76 mm x 63 mm) and weighs just 3.2 oz. or 92 grams. The bowl has a footed base that ... morecan be best seen in photo# 6. This is a unique piece of ancient pottery that you can add to your collection. It is truely Museum quality and is Extremely RARE! It would also make a super Gift! Condition: This fired earthenware bowl is in excellent condition for its age. It is solid with no cracks or repairs. It does have one small chip on the side of the bowl that you can see best in photo# 3. It still has the original earthen deposits encrusted on its inside and outside-as would be expected for an item that was buried for 2.000 years. This natural process does not affect the solid integrity or beauty of the ancient bowl, in fact, they help to date this artifact as an authentic piece of fine pottery that is very, very old! I have examined this piece under 10x magnification and it shows no signs of modern tool marks-only human hands worked the clay to make this ancient bowl. I also examined it under Black Light and found no signs of modern repairs. This bowl has not been Oxford Thermoluminescenece(TL) tested to determine its exact age. As that testing cost over $1,200-several times the value of this bowl. But I assure you this ancient bowl is 100% authentic and original and will

Roman - LARGE bronze bowl FRENCH FIND La Turbie 100% original unrestored
Found in the south of France. A large Roman bronze bowl, this came from an area near La Turbie which in Roman times was a significant military outpost and important military base for several centuries. It is exactly as it came out of the ground, it hasn't been cleaned at all. There is loss to the base as you can see in the photos but what remains is perfectly solid and stable. It is a thick bowl of good quality, sometimes these things were thin sheet but this is heavier and a better made item. The diameter accross the top is 10 1/4 inches and it stands 2 1/8 inch tall. Roman Bronze Ceremonial Bowl and Spoon Set
Roman Bronze Ceremonial Bowl and Spoon Set measures bowl: 34 mm/ 30 mm measures spoon: 94 mm/ 16 mm weight: 60 gm The Roman Empire was the post-Republican period of the ancient Roman civilization. Characterised by an autocratic form of government and large territorial holdings in Europe and around the Mediterranean. The term is used to describe the Roman state during and after the time of the first emperor, Augustus. The 500-year-old Roman Republic, which preceded it, had been weakened and subverted through several civil wars. Several events are commonly proposed to mark the transition from Republic to Empire, including Julius Caesar's appointment as perpetual dictator(44 BC) the Battle of Actium(2 September 31 BC) and the Roman Senate's granting to Octavian the honorific Augustus(4 January 27 BC) Roman expansion began in the days ... moreof the Republic, but the empire reached its greatest extent under Emperor Trajan: during his reign the Roman Empire controlled approximately 6.5 million km2 of land surface. Because of the Empire's vast extent and long endurance, the institutions and culture of Rome had a profound and lasting influence on the development of language, religion, architecture, philosophy, law, and forms of government in the territory it governed, particularly Europe, and by means of European expansionism throughout the modern world. In the late 3rd century AD, Diocletian established the practice of dividing authority between four co-emperors, in order to better secure the vast territory, putting an end to the Crisis of the Third Century. During the following decades the empire was often divided along an East/West axis. After the death of Theodosius I in 395 it was divided for the last time.8] The Western Roman Empire collapsed in 476 as Romulus Augustus was forced to abdicate by Odoacer. The Eastern Roman or Byzantine Empire ended in 1453 with the death of Constantine XI and the capture of Constantinople by the Ottoman Turks led by Mehmed II. ANCIENT ROMAN DECORATED GLASS SHARDS part of ribbed bowl Romain Romano
Roman glass shards Some information about Fectio(Vechten) Fectio. Modern Vechten, was a fort in the limes, the frontier zone of the Roman empire, situated at the site of the bifurcation of the rivers Rhine(which continued to the North Sea) and Vecht(to Lake Flevo and the Frisians) Numismatic evidence suggests that it was founded by the Roman general Tiberius(the future emperor) during the campaigns of 4/5. rare Bottom fragment of a Samian ware bowl with incised sun roman ca. 100-300AD
The Roman Empire was the post-Republican phase of the ancient Roman civilization. Characterised by an autocratic form of government and large territorial holdings in Europe and around the Mediterranean. The term is used to describe the Roman state during and after the time of the first emperor, Augustus. The 500-year-old Roman Republic. Which preceded it, had been weakened and subverted through several civil wars. Several events are commonly proposed to mark the transition from Republic to Empire, including Julius Caesar's appointment as perpetual dictator(44 BC) the Battle of Actium(2 September 31 BC) and the Roman Senate's granting to Octavian the honorific Augustus(4 January 27 BC) Roman expansion began in the days of the Republic, but reached its zenith under Emperor Trajan. At this territorial peak, the Roman Empire controlled ... moreapproximately 6.5 million km² of land surface. Because of the Empire's vast extent and long endurance, the institutions and culture of Rome had a profound and lasting influence on the development of language, religion, architecture, philosophy, law, and forms of government in the territory it governed, particularly Europe, and by means of European expansionism throughout the modern world. Large Roman Bronze Ceremonial Bowl with Handle weight: 173 grams measures: 239 mm/ 120 mm The history of the Roman world is an epic story which stretches out over the course of more than two millennia- the story of an small group of villages which went on to dominate a major part of the western world and was to substantially define its culture. It is obviously impossible to summarize the entire history within a few lines. However. Most chronologies distinguish between the following phases: Origins and Roman Monarchy(753- 509 B.C. A somewhat less familiar period, at the end of which Roman territory was only one small area, Latium, which remained threatened on all sides by Italic and Etruscan peoples. The Roman Republic(509- 27 B.C. paved the way for the institutions. Administration and organizational structures that were to sustain the force ... moreof Rome. By 264 B.C. Rome controlled the entire Italian peninsula. Its ambition would then be to dominate the Mediterranean. Following the destruction of Carthage in 146, this was achieved for the western part. Macedonia, allied with Carthage, was then defeated, and Greece was“liberated” from the Macedonians in 194. Rome occupied what is today the Turkish coastline. Julius Caesar was at the origin of the change which, within a few years(49-29 B.C. would change the Roman institutions into an empire which covered almost the whole of the Mediterranean shores, plus Gaul and present day Spain. With the rise of new peoples who threaten the borders of the Roman empire. Within the empire, Christianity progresses and the Emperor Constantine converts to it in 324. In 395, Theodosius shares the empire between his two sons. The Western Empire fell in 476, whereas the Byzantine Empire remained, with many trials and tribulations until 1453. However things are not that simple. The rise of Rome and the fall of the Empire ca

Ancient Roman Ribbed Glass Bowl - 25 BC
A beautiful ancient Roman glass ribbed bowl. Dating to 25 BC– 50 AD. This stylish Roman bowl is a fine example of its type. The pure turquoise hue of the glass shimmers like a gemstone. Cast formed, the deep lathe-cut grooves are crisp and uniform, melding together to form a vessel of pure elegance. The striking effects of the translucent glass combine beautifully with the tapered rib design. Of all the ancient crafts. Perhaps glass is the most pleasing to the modern eye, there is something in its smooth gleaming surface that transcends age and culture. It is no wonder then that at the height of its popularity in the Roman world, glass was present in nearly every aspect of daily life; from a lady's morning toilette, to a merchant's afternoon business dealings, to the evening cena(supper) This particular design was revolutionary in ... moreits time. And became hugely popular in the Hellenistic and Roman world between the first century BC and first century AD. For a similar example currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum. Condition: Excellent. Unrestored. Diameter: 4 ⅞ inches. Provenance: This piece is from a large number of mostly Chinese antiques. Purchased from a shop clearance in the south of England.
