A very rare set of three ancient Chinese Western Han Dynasty painted bowls. Dating to approximately 206 BC- 9 AD. Of simple. Elegant form, the decoration ... moreon these vessels perfectly expresses the boldly assertive character of the Western Han Dynasty. The minimalism of the shape is beautifully opposed by the vibrant orange-red hue, similar to those found on painted ‘ear bowls’- used during this period for the consumption of wine. The Han Dynasty is notable for its concentration on organised ceramic production. Mass-produced. Functional vessels, some stamped with place names and government offices, suggest that a true nationwide industry had come into existence and that some ceramic workshops were already state controlled. Yet these striking pieces appear to be of a rare and distinctive type. Diameter of large bowl: 10 ½ inches. Diameter of smaller bowls: 4 ½ inches. Condition: Excellent. Unrestored and with beautiful pigment preservation. Provenance: Ex. British private collection. Acquired mid 1990's. Three Ancient Chinese Han Dynasty Bright Orange Painted Pottery Vessels - 206 BC
A very rare set of three ancient Chinese Western Han Dynasty painted bowls. Dating to approximately 206 BC- 9 AD. Of simple. Elegant form, the decoration on these vessels perfectly expresses the boldly assertive character of the Western Han Dynasty. Diameter ... moreof smaller bowls: 4 ½ inches. Condition: Excellent. Unrestored and with beautiful pigment preservation. Provenance: Ex. British private collection. Acquired mid 1990's. Authenticity All items are unconditionally guaranteed to be Authentic as described. For added security we offer a full money-back guarantee if a recognized authority disputes the authenticity of any object sold. Lot Pre Columbian Pottery Vessels Stamps Spindle Whorls Bowl Vase Pot Ecuador?
Great lot of what I have been told are authentic. Pre Columbian pottery artifacts. I showed these to an expert in the field and he confirmed they are up to 1,000 years old and possibly from Ecuador(not the proto money) Everything appears to be in very good condition with no visible repairs or cracks or significant chips, just expected age use wear and minimal rim wear. Included in the auction are 3 vessels, spindle whorls and/or beads, longer pieces that may be stamps, seals or for body paint, and what I think is a proto money ring. I purchased all these together but they may have come from different areas. Please ask questions before bidding. I am not an expert on these items.
